You've always seemed to have a problem with stuff like this, I noticed. But seriously, if this is the kind of thing that gets you worked up the Internet is a bad place for you.

I do, simply because people say it about EVERY new game/movie/whatever, so it sort of loses any meaning. Anyways, end rant. I said about 5 posts ago that I was leaving until I see the movie, so this time I will.

:lol :lol Netflix nailed it

In the end, Solo has had an awesome stint of movie commentary here at GAF, and it will be The Batman to bring him down as well.

All good things must end, Solo! See you in the QOS thread! :lol

^She isn't particularly good in this though.

Pretty great movie, the only disappointment was the fact that they couldn't get the projector working and the movie started almost an hour late.

Some really excellent set pieces, the chase scene on the double-decker bridge especially was brilliantly orchestrated.

And how the the hell did Harvey not get his shit infected?

Fantastic movie though, wouldn't hesitate to see it again.

Again, Im not saying the buzz or awards hype is unwarranted; I havent seen it, so I cant give an opinion either way. Im just saying that in typical GAF fashion, things are going a bit off the deep end. You can almost see the inevitable backlash thread coming in about 3 months.

Why cant people just say stuff like "this was a fucking great movie" as opposed to "this is the greatest movie ever made!" around here?

Anyways, this is probably my last post until I see it later today. Ive managed to remain relatively spoiler-free up to now, so I dont want to stumble at the 11th hour.
I didn't proclaim it a masterpiece and i wouldn't go *that* far in hyperbole mode... yet. :P I had a few tiny issues with it. The dialogue was a little iffy at times, and some scenes were quite heavy handed, but in the scheme of things they didn't matter for me.

I see where you're coming from, though, but don't tell me you won't be tripping over yourself if Quantum of Solace delivers! :) These impressions are kind of expected when people are blown away and steering clear of posting major spoilers. Plus the movie actually lived up to the massive amounts of hype.

Oh, come on. It's not like he said the movie sucked. I'm more upset with people pissing on Maggie Gyllenhaal who wasn't a cardboard Rachel just because she's not the best looking actress in the world (they should see Secretary).

I also find the people saying this film can never be topped by a sequel are being ridiculous. Are you so cynical that you have no faith in Nolan at all or is your imagination that lacking that much creativity and limited? Sure, Ledger's death will hang over any possible sequels like a shadow but it's not like there are not other complex Batman villains.

I loved this film but I'm not going to be screaming "ZOMG BEST FILM EVAR. HOLLYWOODZ QUIT NOW" like people are doing here. That's just silly. People always say this when a great movie comes out that exceeds their expectations.

I've seen the film twice now. Was just as enjoyable if not more the second time. I've never seen anything in my life live up to the hype to this degree.

Loved this movie, absolutely loved it. Richard Roper's comparisons to Heat and The Departed are totally warranted. I mean, just wow. It's really a cinematic event.

That said, did anybody else think that Gotham felt a little "off"? The Narrows were totally non-existent (I understand they are a no-mans land after the events of Batman Begins, but they weren't even mentioned in TDK), the train was missing, we never see the under-city, and the beautiful looking Wayne Tower seems to have been replaced by a boring glass skyscraper. It looked completely sterile. Sure Wayne Enterprises probably has more than one building, but why would they move everything to another building? The whole city just felt too much like Chicago and not enough like Gotham.

It's a minor complaint, and at the end of the day doesn't affect the film at all, but it just seemed really odd to me.

for the few of you who saw this at Imax..is it worth waiting for. Imax is sold out until next week. Thinking of going this weekend, but kind of wanted to see it in Imax the first time. Worth it?

Yeah, Gotham City, the visual character, is absent from this movie. It was a major part of what made the first movie tick, The Dark Knight didn't lose much from its absence though.

Saw it last night. Dark Knight DESTROYS Batman Begins. Really good stuff.
The Joker and Two-Face are both nailed by their actors. In fact, Two-Face has probably become a BETTER villain based on this version of him, compared to what he is in comics. And Joke is just...Perfect. The only thing I'm worred about is where are they going to take the third movie? Based on the ending I thought maybe it'd be about Batman being on the run from the police while at war with the Joker. But Heath's dead so I doubt they'll use Joker now...AND Two-Face is dead, so who do they have left? Riddler, Poison Ivy, Clayface, Penguin, Black Mask...No one who really fits the vibe of Begins and Dark Knight. Hard to say.

That speculation aside, The Dark Knight is an awesome movie. Loved it.

Considering how successful this movie will be, there WILL be a third movie. With or without Nolan.
=/ I cringe at the thought of it being made without Nolan. Can we please get a 3rd movie in a comic book franchise that doesn't suck for once? Please??!

As do i, but unless Nolan can figure out a way to do a third movie, someone else will.

I think the sequal needs to be smaller in scope. Batman chasing a villian. Not a movie about Gotham on the brink of destruction. You cant top this movie in that regard.. they need to do a smaller more personal story and less epic in scale. Batman bringing down A crime family, not Batman saving all of Gotham.

Its the only way it will work and not fall flat compared to this movie.

My only concern is the action--BB's action sequences were awful. What say you of the action who've seen the film? I'm going in tonight--totally excited.

They are better overall the BB. The camera is pulled out a bit more and the cuts are a little bit longer and not as quick.

That said, I dont really consider this a big action set piece movie, though it has its moments.

Just got back from the theaters.

WHAT A FUCKING AWESOME FLICK!

I was very happy with it and hopefully I'll get the privileged to see it in Imax. If not, I'll definitely see it again.

AH, I am so pumped! :lol

Honestly, the only "iconic" villian left which I think could really fit inside the Nolan-verse would be the Riddler. The final two-boat problem really felt like a Riddler kind of thing to me rather than something the Joker would do.

Everything else might be too sci-fi - including Mr. Freeze, Clayface, Bane, or Catwoman.

When the trailers were over, we went nuts in the theater, and when the movie officially started the theater was silent. You could hear a pin drop in it.

As for the movie, honestly, this was the greatest movie I have ever seen. Everything about it was perfect, I really have no words about it. See it now, and as many times as you can.

This was the case at my theater except for when
The Lamborghini gets wrecked
and I say"oh no"! and the theater laughed at me for a minute.

Great movie and great crowd withe the exception of no one knowing what watchmen was :(

Saw it last night at 10:45. Still don't know how the theater got away with showing it before midnight since every other theater I checked had 12:01 showings. Oh well, I guess I won!

Anyway, the movie was pretty good. A couple of editing problems, but I think that might have been because of the dead dude. For instance, the scene when the Joker throws that cunt out the window at the party and Batman jumps out after her, they crash into a car and then the next scene takes place the next day. What the hell happened to the Joker? He just gave up looking for Harvey and left? Why didn't they show that? LAME!

I also felt that Two Face didn't get enough screen time. Probably should have saved him for the sequel. I think they were shooting for a sequel with the Joker, seeing as how he didn't die, but that's not going to happen now!

One Final comment. I am SICK of hearing on the internet, tv, etc. how Ledger was UNBELIEVABLE and will win an Oscar. Don't get me wrong. He was good, but not nearly as good as the tools in the media have made him out to be. If he was still alive, no one would say shit.

Got back from watching it in IMAX. Earlier this year MGS4 matched my previous favorite game of all time. Today, The Dark Knight did the same. Best movie of all time. Just unbelievably amazing throughout.

so, does bale still sound like he has to take a dump when he puts on the mask?

yes. In fact, I think it's worse in this film. I was complaining about that to my girlfriend as we rewatched BB. She said she didn't think it was too bad, but last night during TDK she kept leaning over and asking me why he was talking like a douche.

Just watched this last night (midnight Imax in Richmond)! Holy shit!!
This was probably the most intense movie experience I can recall. I was even tense during The Joker's first few speeches, not just the action scenes. Wow, I think this may become my new favourite movie of all time, though I will watch it a couple more times before finalizing this statement (my favourite film now is my childhood film, Laputa), and that is saying a lot.
There was a lot more ideological themes in this movie than in the first, which I personally love. It was not communicated in a cheesy way either, and the themes of escalation I felt, not just shown on screen through the criminals' escalation due to The Batman's existence, but also in the way the adrenaline and intensity just keeps on building throughout the whole film (there is no real slow moment from the get-go). :D

Shit, cannot wait to watch it again!!

I am a huge MGS fan as well, though I am a bit different from your experience. MGS4 just fell a bit short of my hype/expectations for the game (just a bit), but The Dark Knight absolutely matched it (and may have even exceeded it).
I am still thinking about the movie now, and I barely slept for 4 hours last night. :lol

Of course, my expectations may not have been equal for both. I think I was actually a bit more hyped for The Dark Knight going into the movie though. ;)
