I wonder though if maybe he will come back bigger and badder to torment the bat, guess it really depends on what villain they choose for the next one.
Joker was awesome, I must say that my favorite part of the movie was
when he first encountered the mob bosses in that meeting. I laughed out loud in the theater, it was just great.
Best Comic Movie Ever, the next one has a high bar to fly over. Close to the top of my all time movies, will have to watch it more to see how high it can get. I might even actually buy the dvd/bluray when it comes out just to see all the extras, to see all the goodness that went into it.
Greatest superhero film of all time. Heath Ledger as the Joker is (at the risk of sounding like a hyperbole) one of the best silver screen villains and easily surpasses old Jackie boy's efforts.
How scary was he? I am GLAD he is nothing more than a fictional character.

Yeah, so that was pretty much amazing. Probably the best superhero movie ever.

Also, I went to an earlier showing (7:30), and it was sold out. They actually had really long lines and extra security, something I'm not used to seeing at this theater. The line waiting to get into the 10 o'clock showing was out the door, which is also unusual.

My quick synopsis
Awesome movie, felt a bit long. Should have edited down a little bit. The villains were fucking AWESOME but I felt like Batman was put to the side for the drama aspects. I wanted to see more Batman and less Bruce Wayne.
Also, Bale really, really, REALLY needs to tone down the smokers voice. Sweet Jesus.

Just got back from the theater about 30 minutes ago.
I went there with my family at about 7:40 pm, but all the showings were sold out until the 10:20 pm show, and even then when I tried to get in at about half an hour early to get a decent seat, there was a freakin' line already for the 10:20 pm just to get into theater 1!
My experience...well, the screen needed to be a little brighter, as well as the sound mix muddled some of the dialog, especially near the end, plus it felt like they turned off the A/C half an hour before the movie ended. Ever since Regal bought out Consolidated Theaters, they went crummy cheapskate on people. Not too hot experience watching The Dark Knight, well it kinda was literally hot, in a bad way though. It finally all ended at 1:00 am and I'm exhausted.
As for the movie itself?

No wonder, the sound is just, relentless. Its so grating and really stands out whenever Batman is talking. I understand the need for Bruce to hide his real voice but when the people around me are asking eachother "Good movie, but whats with Batmans voice?" You know you've gone too far with it.
Hope they really tone it down in the next movie.

did you see a digital projection? it's not the cinema's fault if that's the case. DLP crushes blacks in under-exposed shots and it bothered me the whole time because i've seen the prologue like once a day and specifically remember more definition in dark spots than when i saw it in theatersHomerSimpson-Man said:

I actually saw The Dark Knight, then Hancock, and then Hellboy II on Friday. Obviously the other two didn't compare to TDK, but it was fun catching up on some of the movies I've missed. Hancock was a ghost town, and Hellboy II only had a couple folks in it during a period where it should have been packed. HBII is going to have a HUGE drop this weekend.

Hellboy 2's drop is going to be as monumental as TDK's rise to the top. Sad for Guillermo, but the studio seriously should've thought this out better.

I used to go to another Regal theater with a friend in another town and I used to say it was darker than what I usually watched too, but now they got to my local theater too.

Oh boy. Here comes the hate.
I absolutely hated the editing of the movie. Even with the movie being 2h30 long, it felt like there were too many scenes crammed together, and I don't think it flowed really well. Too many quick shots, some transitions just felt completely off
Didn't care at all for Maggie Gyllenhaal. She just didn't seem to be in love with Bruce Wayne anymore (even though she actually is). The Bruce/Rachel relation was a complete letdown. I blame Gyllenhaal on that.
I didn't think Gotham City had the same gritty look from the first one (with smoke all around the city). Was the movie even shot in the same city as the first one? Even the Wayne Enterprise didn't look like the first one(?) Gotta double check on that.
Batman's voice felt silly this time. I understand the logic behind this, but it was way too forced this time around. It doesn't make any sense for him to talk with a low bad-ass voice when he's around people like Rachel and Fox, who obviously knows who he is.
Joker and Two Faces were great though. Especially Ledger. He pulled it out extremely well. Definitely the highlight of the movie.
I think the big problem is that the movie had less "heart" than Begins, if that makes any sense. Rachel's and Alfred's characters were so much better in it. So many things in The Dark Knight just felt disconnected.

so I'm going to see it again next week, my first viewing experience wasn't all that great actually.

Gordon is revealed to be alive and goes back to his wife, his wife slaps him and gives him a heartfelt hug
Wayne's Lambo getting fucked up in the traffic collision.
with Joker and Two-Face in the hospital, Joker tells Two-Face some story and mentions "sending all the soldiers to get killed"
Still, the movie was so awesome that almost nothing could completely spoil it.

I was insanely tired when I saw it as well (3:20 am showing). I almost felt like I was dreaming when I noticed Batman was taking a piss in the stall next to me and Joker dropping a #2.

People weren't talking at the screening I want too but there was a dude within 5ft that smelled like dried spit. It was either BO or he was breathing heavily. Partway into the movie I started to suspect the dude next to me since he was breathing like a 500lb Behemoth, when, in actuality, he was just a 20 year old 120lb nerdling. Ugh, the SMELL

I actually had a major problem with people clapping or cheering or doing anything during this movie. Usually with these summer blockbuster films, clapping and cheering at awesome parts I have no problem with, but this time I just wanted to be completely immersed in the experience and I wanted to have no distractions.
If someone actually looked at me during this movie they would have thought I was probably bored out of my mind or sleeping with my eyes open... cause literally I did not move at all. I just sat there in awe at pretty much everything.

I've no qualms with telling people to shut up in movies, we're in the dark anyway and they probably wouldn't even know it's from me. If I hear some loudmouth idiot I'd just say "shut up" but if it's like a kid or something, I'd just kindly go "shh".
