RUMOR: Assassin's Creed 3 set in Ancient Egypt?

The game and its settings are starting to get a little stale.

Just make it modern already.
Yes, I too am sick and tired of the glut of middle eastern/renaissance Italy video games on the market. I wish they would just jump to a less stale modern day setting.

Feudal Japan is so overdone. Would take China over it easily.

Still would take French Revolution over both any day.

Again people make the mistake of saying French Revolution without grasping a major problem. France really has only one major historically relevant city. Florence, Rome and Venice all were important in Italy (you can add Naples) but France due to its early centralization is really just Paris. Marseilles, Lyon, Avignon, Nice don't work as well. Similar issue with the UK, London is just so dominant.

The reason why I think the Napoleonic Wars works is you can do London, Paris, St. Petersburg, Moscow, Vienna, Madrid etc. and still have something relevant to the overall theme happening. This period saw literally every major nation in Europe (and through the War of 1812, America) involved. Giving you a suitably grand background for the end of the series.

Aren't both Brotherhood and Revelations set in a single ginormous city? So that'd theoretically work fine, I think.

if only someone would make an open world game in a modern urban setting

i suppose a man can dream

If you set it in 1774(ish) to 1815 you have plenty of cities to play around with. I'm sure people just say "French Revolution" because it is the big thing in that era but the world at that point is pretty global so having your character take a ship to different cities inbetween sequences is pretty reasonable. It'd be interesting anyway how they deal with the Enlightenment affecting different European societies and how it ties into the Assassins vs Templars thing at the same time.

Ancient Egypt had obelisks, or towers like the washington monument. They can work as eagle-diving locations.

This is my guess. Tail end of the 18th century gives you access to early post-revolution America, French Revolution, and the beginning of the Bavarian Illuminati. That's a conspiracy casserole right there.

And the Napoleonic Era in AC3: II & III.

That why AC 3 will be both French and American revolutions. bookmark this post :)

END GAME SPOILER OF AC REVELATIONS FOLLOWS

I think that could be true. In the end of Revelations we see that
the main temple of the Holy Trinity is located in North America/Canada.
French Revolution is hinted at in Brotherhood.

But I really really want a Shao Jun game in China. There is a story link
with Ezio, plus the Macguffin given to her in AC Embers before Ezio dies
.

It could be nice to play a female assassin for once in a non European setting. AC should do what Tenchu doesn't.

I mean just check out this badassness and think of the footblades.

Ever since the Truth video in AC2 I've just wanted a game set in
the weird techno future-past of the first civilization. Playing as Eve.
Man, that'd be rad.

But ancient Egypt would be rad too. Hell, throw em both in there and you got yourself a deal, Ubi. :D

P.S. Has any Asscreed location rumor EVER been true? Christ.

i worry that the egypt setting might end up being too similar to the first game. another vote for an asian setting. maybe they can use a colonized indian during the east india company period.

I hope this isn't true, because if so, I'll cream all of my pants at the same time. Please, Ubisoft, think of my laundry bill.

I'd actually prefer an Asian country.

I think it's going to happen, Ezio only have one daughter, even if we will never play as her or relive her memories, the fact that Ezio only have one son and is a girl, probably has some meaning plus Shao Jun, it looks to me like they are teasing it.

I'm fearing it will be some sort of transmedia spinoff project like the AC comic set in Russia. Also because there is no DNA link between Desmond and Shao Jun. I'm still hoping though.

If you watched Embers and looked at the Chinese enemies, they are basically Asian equivalents of the warriors and artillery units in AC:B and AC:R, so I could see it work.

Egypt sounds interesting, but I still want feudal Japan the most.

And yea, having a female assassin as the main character would definitely be neat.

Didn't Napolean lead an invasion (French) to Egypt in like the 1700's? That seems like it would be a great point to realize. You even get Muhammad Ali!

I only read the first sentence of this. But if its a spoiler. You will be murdered, slowly.

Yes, please. Ancient Egypt is probably one of the things that fascinates me the most, love any documentary I see. Oh, but please, even though we all know it to be true... no aliens. :P

I actually hope they do Egypt for the current gen consoles and finish it off on the current gen, then unveil Assassin's Creed in ancient China for the next generation consoles. Man, that would rock so much. Please be China too, there has been enough Japanese ninjas and samurai in games.

I think
Eden
would be better.

The series has talked about
time travel
since the first game. I think eventually they'll have to do it so they can change the
alternate timeline
the present day is set in the series to make it the real one. I'll be playing Revelations next week, I wonder if any of this gets brought up again.

Victorian london plz.

If you disagree watch "the crimson petal and the white" and tell me the setting wouldn't be suitable.

I have been secretly hoping for a Guy Fawkes in AC ever since they revealed the survey in which they asked how people would feel about a bombcrafting mechanic. Dude was pretty much an assassin, just read his Wikipedia page. Gunpowder Plot could be pretty interesting for those conspiracy theory things.

Anything other than French Revolution would be so disappointing to me. Even modern day stuff.

This. Ubisoft is a French company for crying out loud, they should honor their homeland with their marquee franchise. Go all out building a game set in late 18th century France and blow us all away.

At some point they have to do the french revolution.

I also would love some French Revolution settings, but doing a cursory look on Alexandria on wikipedia revealed this info:

Battle of Alexandria, French Revolutionary Wars
Siege of Alexandria (1801), French Revolutionary Wars
Alexandria expedition of 1807, French Revolutionary Wars

Possibly some globetrotting between France, Alexandria and colonial US?

SCARLET PIMPERNEL CONFIRMED!

Ancient Egypt had obelisks, or towers like the washington monument. They can work as eagle-diving locations.

Fact: the majority of obelisks in Rome/Italy were spoils of war brought back from Egypt/surrounding areas to show the public their dominance over the known world.

This is how I've always felt about this guy: Eugène François Vidocq. He would make a great third party character outside of working for either the Templars or the Assassins. The guy was the mastermind behind a lot of the early forensics stuff and great undercover detective. Interesting as hell.

Been saying and hoping for a while that I want to play as an assassin in the French or American revolution with a tricorn hat (complete with the eagle beak at the front point) and that awesome long coat with the stylings we're used to seeing with the assassin garb. Plus a musket to whip out in a stylish manner.

Imperial Russia
French Revolution
Victorian England

Seriously, if they do not do any of those, ill be mad, real mad.

Where ever they go I hope the devs tone down "Ezio's" armor quite a bit. He's like a freaking tank from AC2 onwards with all the stuff he's wearing, and I'd like to believe for a minute that he'd actually be able to outrun guards etc. I find his outfits extremely ridiculous and over the top, no way he'd "blend" anywhere looking like that.

I just can't see them setting the game in a time period before AC2, would be difficult to believably implement some of the new mechanics that have now become synonymous with the series.
