RUMOR: Assassin's Creed 3 set in Ancient Egypt?

Basically this is what I want to see:

I love Brotherhood of the Wolf.
My man!!! If this movie could achieve so much badassery, so can ACIII if it takes place in that time period.

I like how this has turned into one of those series which bypasses main entries and then goes back to numerical. I already don't like the yearly cycle (petty, I know). For a game of this type, it's just telling me that they're too many of them already. If they sell, they sell, though.

No! No more historical Assassin's Creed. Finish the effing story that you've been building up to ever since you forgot to put an ending in Assassin's Creed 1 four years ago you jerks! Desmond, Vidic, the sun: make it happen.
I play Assassin's Creed for the gorgeous historical locations, not the crappy sci-fi framing device. We're at odds, you and I.

More like, if they are fun, they are fun, regardless how many there are. I would gladly take a yearly Assassins Creed over most other yearly entires of games. They always add new quirks to the gameplay with each addition, and I found Brotherhood just as much fun as 2, even if it was lacking in story. I've only played a bit of Revelations, mostly cause I'm still going through Skyward Sword, and once again I'm enjoying it a lot.

Oh god yes, I could not agree any harder. Fuck everything about desmond and modern day, that is part of why I skipped half of the first game, it was just tedious and boring to play as desmond and I could not care less about what happened to him.

The only way they should be solving the modern day "story" is by small parts as desmond between parts of the real game.

I still say they should take the series into the realm of complete fiction. They can still use historical architecture, but I want brand new settings/characters/stories that have no bearing in 'reality'. I want them to just go crazy with their mechanics (but not in a crappy way ... den defense)

Remember when Assassin's Creed was supposed to be a trilogy and nobody thought it'd actually happen because the first game reviewed pretty poorly?
Making a modern Assassin's Creed game is the best way to ruin the series. Why does anyone want that? Sure, the sci-fi story is kind of interesting at times but Desmond and his shitty friends is the worst part of the series.

"ancient Egypt's certainly one of the most called for settings amongst Assassin's fans."

First I heard about people wanting that setting for AC3. I thought the main picks were always French Revolution, some sort of Asian local like Japan, or modern day.

Personally, I would prefer French Revolution or Moscow, using the character they created in the comic books.

Sign me up! It will be amazing if they reconstruct the cities and Temples and blend some intriguing tomb raiding action into it. There is so much history and potential for great stories.

I'm not saying they will but they could do both. Time travel has happened in the Assassin's Creed universe.

The 'fuck? The historical aspects are what make the AC games some of the most stand-out titles of this generation. Some of us are actually playing these because of the historical settings.

The Desmond part of the first game isn't even a single 3rd or a quarter of the game. And at most you only had to spend a few minutes with it at a tie if you absolutely didn't care about it.

Which is exactly how it was handled in the first game.

Feudal Japan or Ancient Egypt for sure, I'd say the latter if I was pushed.

i honestly don't see how feudal japan could work in the AC universe.

would we be backstabbing templar samurais as some asian assassin or something? i'm not even sure how an asian ancestor would even work in desmond's bloodline, unless his ancestors have been "getting busy" across the world, which would be kind of difficult in the time period the game's historical periods are set in.

idk, they could make it work somehow. In my opinion, Egypt is an easy way out for them since they could just put the "Challenge maps" inside pyramids, so this might be most likely to happen since they love those challenge maps.

AC3's setting aside, I just can't wait for this game to move closer to the World War 2 timeline from that interview a couple of years back, the guy hinted AC could move towards a world war setting someday.

This interview actually

Could be an entirely different bloodline that goes back to Japan...

The game franchise focuses on Desmond and his bloodline, I really don't ever see the focus straying away from that. Maybe after Desmond's plot concludes.

Who says the ancestor has to be Asian? It could work as one of Desmonds ancestor came over with the merchants and missionaries.

It would be pretty cool to be in egypt if only for the assassin you would use. In AC2 the egypt assasin statue is a girl. Using differetn types of venom and animals would be really cool.
And next victorian england please.

I wouldn't mind an ancient Egypt setting. And who in there right mind would want to play AC with no historical setting. I hate that desmond shit.

"I don't see why we would do a World War II setting. We could do it, it would be fine. Like, let's go assassinate Hitler. But really? I know everyone's asking for a Japanese 'Assassin's Creed,' but I've been talking to some Japanese people and they're like, 'Don't do it. We do our own historical thing.' I've been fighting a lot saying it's not going to be a ninja, but then I'm like, why not? But I ask myself, how many games can we make in World War II? That's maybe the only [setting] I'd say is not interesting to me."

I think most people believe that AC3 will be about Desmond and will finish that story, then there will be a new story, new protagonist, ancestors story etc.

Oh, man. It'd be pretty awesome if you got to play as an assassin samurai in feudal Japan, and jump all over those Japanese rooftops Mulan-style.

It can go far beyond this templars vs assassins too. Though the name would have to change, huh?

The animus can be used for anything. A young man ready to enlist wants to experience the life of his great grandfather, a war veteran of WWI, so he can get a taste of what it's like on the battlefield. Discovers dark secrets never meant to be shared with anyone yadda yadda.

There's something really big happening in AC's world that is also the climax of Desmond's story. They can continue it, but considering how large this event is, it might seem a bit weird.

Oh boy, that's not helping stereotypes at all. Everyone says japan is racist and selfish and statements like that don't really help it.

Ah well, it could work. I'm not saying it couldn't work, just that it isn't likely. I guess a WW2 environment is thrown out the window then, for shame.

Yeah i agree but maybe it could revolve around one of the other assassin teams that are mentioned in the e-mails? They could take place at the same time but with a different protagonist and ancestors.

Who says the ancestor has to be Asian? It could work as one of Desmonds ancestor came over with the merchants and missionaries.

He damn well better if it takes place in Ancient Japan. There's enough of that bullshit in Hollywood films to last me a lifetime.

So is it basically going to be kill all the evil evil Templars now in Egypt?

If so it is getting tiring imo,the long dead Prince of France would be proud though

http://www.eurogamer.net/articles/2...ey-public-on-future-assassins-creed-locations

It's about a survey on future AC historical periods

The options listed are:
The violent conflicts of the Imperial Dynasties in Medieval China
The advent of the mighty British Empire during Victorian England
The culmination of the Pharaoh Reign in Ancient Egypt
The invasion of the Americas by the Spanish Conquistadors
The confrontation between British colonists and native Americans during The American Revolution
The overthrow of the Tsar Empire by the Communists during the Russian Revolution
The Warlord Battles in Feudal Japan
The rise of Cesar's Empire in Ancient Rome

Being that the survey is current, we can rule out any of the above settings for AC '12. Which previously rumored setting is missing from that list?

I'm thinking it's Revolutionary France, at this point. Pachter mentioned it like two years ago, and if we believe the other rumors about AC III being in development that far back, it's plausible.

This is a big reason why I don't think it could work. There isn't enough architecture to play around on. The cities were tiny and had short buildings.

I dunno, if it was set during a time where pyramids and the sphinx and shit were being constructed there would be tons of construction platforms, pulleys/zip lines and scaffolds and stuff. I think it would be neat.

Won`t matter, if they release the game for the 360 and ps 3. AC3 would still have lots of pop ups, lots of screen tearing, bad shadows... old hardware is just old.

Well, AC3 could very well be Wii U and (who knows?) next Xbox launch titles, and if BF3 is any example they could get a next-gen engine to run well enough on current gen hardware.

I would love to see an AC game take place in old Maya/Aztec settings. Perhaps with a new character that meets Desmond.

I just want to see more mesoamerica settings in games.

Surely that survey means nothing since the game has allegedly been in development for 2 years. lol.

Egypt would be really interesting though. Maybe it'll be a time period when the "gods" still lived.
