Rumor: Horizon: Zero Dawn delayed to early 2017

Delaying things to give em additional dev time is ok.

But I agree that publishers need to stop announcing shit so far ahead of time. Delays are practically unavoidable if you announce stuff in such an early state.

Yeah, but PS4K happened between the game's announcement and now. And we know that it costs extra dev time to make a "Neo mode". Guerrilla Games had to rethink the development schedule.

I know it's just disappointing :/ one of the most games i'm excited for with Persona 5 and that'll probably get delayed too.

Seems in line with SCEAs' strategy this gen. Buy x number of copies from Activision/EA every holiday and just bundle. Meanwhile everything else is delayed.

As for this game, meh. Its Guerilla so the only thing to look forward to is good graphics. Story and gameplay will be average as usual.

You could have said the same thing about From Software a while back. Even with Guerrilla Killzone 2 and 3 were above average though.

Killzone 2 still is one of the best shooters ever, especially gameplay wise. Shooting mechanics/gunplay, AI. What's your gold standard if you consider them average?

Not surprising since the end of the year is basically reserved for PSVR. ;) And it will also make a very tempting Neo launch title.

You don't think it's gonna hit the U.S. before 2017? Man I hope not, I'm expecting to play Persona 5 in English at some point this year.
I hope I am being too pessimistic but it has been pretty silent around the game. Unless E3 brings the goods, I expect Asian release at the end of the year, US in February and Europe end of next year :-(

I mean it's competing against games like Half Life 2, The Chronicles of Riddick, Resistance 3, Return To Castle Wolfenstein, Quake, DOOM, Titanfall, Halo, etc.

Compared to all those, Killzone 2 is pretty boring and generic

KZ was B-tier when it was relevant, it has never competed with the top dogs. Gold standard on console is Halo, BF, COD.

sorry, "generic" is something (I used that term once too I admit) I can't accept and is just a lazy dismissal.

Halo, BF I give you, but paperweight COD gunplay? Nah, never. Seems you never played KZ2 MP.

Feel like a proper dickhead buying a PS4 near launch thinking that in the first three years, the big first parties would actually be able to get a game out. Especially with the PS4K talk, getting a PS4 at all was a very stupid decision as someone that buys consoles for the first party games.

Does not help the third party games being mostly shit as well, mirrors edge was my most hyped game but those recent videos make the game look dogshit.

Sony just needs to stop announcing games 2 years in advance Also i see that Sony 1st party lineup for this holiday season will be bad as it was two years before and that is sad.

to be honest I was surprised it was due this year and expected 2017...it is a shame but there's other stuff to look forward to this year

this is all well and good, but horizon had apparently been in development for years prior already. if they legitimately thought announcing last year to release this year wasn't plausible, they wouldn't have said it. they honestly thought horizon was going to be a fall 2016 title, but obviously things change, spanners fall into the machinery, it's unavoidable.

it's not like they came to a collective decision to say the game was going to be released earlier then they knew it would be at that time.

i think delays are an unavoidable part of the industry if we maintain this pre-release announcement method of building hype. it's not so much a case of x amount of time being too early, since any amount of time can be susceptible to delays. the only way to stop delays is to announce a game when it's completely finished, gold, printed... and then sell it immediately after.

Which off course means the rest of the year doesn't count.

Beside Dreams and maybe TLG what other big games they currently have in pipeline? Also based on previous years how many games announced at E3 were released same year?
PS4 has lots of 3rd party multiplatform games and some exclusives but 1st party lineup is slim and it was slim since PS4 was released in my opinion.

All we have is RAC, MLBTS, Alienation, Shadow of The Beats, UC4 and No Man's Sky. There's literally no reason to own a PS4 ...

Why is this narrative only aimed at the console with the most exclusives?

If you look the official page they are still hiring quest designers and other key positions for this game. Those listings have been up for a while so I had already lost faith that this game was shipping in 2016.

Sony 1st party on 2016 has been Amazing so I don't care if holiday is not as strong, they already gave us MLB, Ratchet, Salt and sanctuary and now Uncharted 4, soon Alienation /No Man Sky's and we are even getting VR and RIGS...

I would take Rico vs The Space Nazis over a lot of those games.

There are people who are still expecting TLG to release this year??!

I mean that's fine, It's all opinions anyway.

It's more I think Killzone as a whole has never, ever been on the forefront of game design or interesting gameplay compared to a lot of shooters. It's definitely one of the more "safe" ones, in my opinion.

I wonder what this means for other PS4 games launching after September. Due to the Neo requirements, maybe more of them will be delayed?

And does this delay mean that Zero Dawn was supposed to launch between October 2016 and the end of 2016?

Two of those are small indie games, Alienation is the first game I've preordered on psn and can't wait. Getting R&C tomorrow, UC4 will be my first purchase rather than rental since GT5.

But you've showed how much Sony really have fucked up, you have to put in small indie games and third party developed IPs to pad the lineup. Of those games you mentioned only MLB and UC4 are internal studios and that's a total fuck up.

After nearly three years the internal studios have not come to the party, as someone that got the console for the next SSM, MM and PD game, it's shit. I really couldn't care less about MS or Nintendos first party output, Sony made great games last generation and they've fucked the pooch this generation.

Yep it's only the top selling console because there's nothing to play on it. Love all the indie-shitting you're doing too, as if they don't count as real games. How embarrasingly hyperbolic. It's on you if you spent $400 on a console that doesn't have any games you want to play on it. Sell your PS4, problem solved.

to be fair he missed GT sport (granted it's likely delayed too) and last guardian (kinda needs to release to not look like a running joke) and dreams

combined with ratchet and clank and uncharted 4 that's still a very strong lineup (assuming non of those fall into next year) i mean, how many AAA exclusives do people honestly expect every year? lol

I wasn't expecting it to make 2016 even before the Neo was announced.
Now that sony wants to use the title to showcase what the Neo's extra bells and whistles can do it's definitely not happening.

People need to complain about the console with fewer exclusives and not the console with most exclusives. I guess it's just a matter of who promoted the narrative first ... that's the only way I can see why this insane lie continues. The lists should never have been banned. It means people like you can exaggerate and never be proven wrong.

That just firms resolve that TLG is coming this year hell or high water. If Persona 5 and Ni-Oh come out as well this year, I'm sorry but that's a damn fine year. R&C, The show, uncharted 4, nms, TLG, Persona 5 and Ni-Oh. Pretty good showing if it all comes together. I have a feeling there is another game dropping this fall that we don't know about.

Not really.

They didn't mind the lack of exclusives in the second half of 2015 after they delayed Uncharted and Ratchet.

As others have said, they already sell enough with third party bundles and marketing deals
