If this would be possible with remote play and vita I would shit.
CFW slim ps3s can-but not all games and not always perfectly.
I still have my 60GB PlayStation 3 from 2007.I am serious. How much anyone here played PS2/PS1 games in early PS3 models?
And what would be more replayable now, GTA San Andreas or Mario Galaxy HD?

This. PS4 Needs a RR game and R5 in 1080p would look better than any game in the series.SpasilliumX11 said:Ridge Racer V would be perfect to start off PS4 emulation of PS2 games and to show off the capability.

I'm not sure why people keep mentioning discs or gtfo etc. It is quite obvious discs will not be supported and all titles will be digital download unless using the PS stream thing.
majority of people have probably got rid of their old consoles or/and games for said consoles. If you still have discs, more than likely you will have the console too, so if you're desperate to play them, use your old console and stop bitching like its a bad idea, at least they are offering the service.

What are you talking about lol
Minority on GAF maybe...but all I hear from my friends are how pissed they are that the ps4/Xb1 dont play old games. It really is a feature that should be there.I'm in the minority, of course, but I love backward compatibility.

I doubt the PS4 will be able to read ps1 dicks. This is probably download/PSN-based.
Rockstar doesn't need to live in the past. Please quit it. I replay PS1 games like Suikoden and Xenogears all the time. BTW, why is Mario Galaxy given an HD designation and San Andreas isn't?
Let me get this straight. If this comes to pass, does this mean we can play the superior physics in SoTC that has been borked in the HD collection?
And...
and....
and...
The Silent Hill TRUE collection from 1 - 4 in it's original form ENHANCED with 1080p which will lead the us to salvation from the false prophet [Hulett] who has led astray?
If I'm wrong about this, it would be glorious.
What I suspect it means is that you'll see the same resolution that the game shipped with, but the PS4 will upscale the signal before it goes to your display, rather than sending the native signal and letting your TV do the scaling. Very marginal difference in what you see on screen either way.
just to get everybody's boners going... here's some screenshots I took the other night of PS1 games running in 1080p on the PCSXR emulator, widescreen hack enabled.
I could play this quality of PSOne games for the rest of my life.
Amazing, simply amazing.
Care to do Gran Turismo 1/Gran Turismo 2 if you have them? Front Mission 3? Colony Wars?
Thanks in advance!

I also assume that this is for PSN content only, not disks.
That's disappointing, but I have quite a few PS2 classics on my PS3, that I'd love to play rendered at 1080p on my PS4, with that awesome Dual Shock (like Odin Sphere, Persona 3, Bully, etc). I'm still very excited for this.

... not a rumor...
People want it for discs because the original console that played them is old, no longer in production, and might break at some point in the near future, so being able to play them in a newer machine extends the playable life of the games. Which is kind of, you know, the entire reason BC exists in the first place.
