My soul. It hurts.I hope it's a third person shooter with emphasis on stop-and-pop covers with lots of waist high cover, and a brown/grey colour pallet.

Retro really is taking a long time to announce their next game.
From DKC: Return's announcement, we've had two Nintendo systems announced, released, and declared dead. One of them was revitalized, due in part to a game that Retro was asked to help out on. DKC: Returns was released, and a while later, a port of the game was announced and released.
This game had better be really awesome. Also, I really hope their next game doesn't take this long...
New brand = new IP.
Oh, really? I didn't listen to the chat, so I'll take your word for it.In the contest of the discussion, I think it just means that Retro is not working on Metroid nor DK.

I'd rather get a new Star Fox game. I don't know if I necessarily want a new IP from them because I could easily see it being something I wouldn't like.
A "new brand" is odd wording.
If it was something entirely new I'd of thought new IP was the obvious think to say.
New brand sounds like taking a known character/franchise and establishing them in a new genre. Something like Super Mario Bros to Mario Kart...or Metroid to Metroid Prime.
A new FPS using a known franchise perhaps. A Starfox FPS/squad based shooter wouldn't surprise me.
Ah, thanks for the clarification, Kard. Man, who knows what they're working on at this point, but I'll tell you one thing: I'm addicted to DKCR all over again with the 3DS re-release, and these guys know tight level design. I can't wait to see what they're cooking.Basically they said they were wondering if retros game would be at e3. Some of the people wonder if it'll be a new metroid when Peer comments that he's heard rumors that Retros game is a new brand.

You wouldn't like a new IP from Nintendo? Why not? Retro Studios is Nintendo, whatever new IP they may or may not have come up with would have to be approved by Nintendo, which I doubt would greenlight a dudebro shooter (but on the negative side would be just as unlikely to give the go ahead to something like a Bioshock, Dishonored, or Dark Souls either)
Why would you assume everyone would want a Bioshock or Dark Souls?

Please show where I wrote that.

Snippy. You wrote "on the negative side" Nintendo wouldn't greenlight an IP like that. And you wrote it in response to someone saying they might not like what Retro comes up with. Ergo, the insinuation is that you were assuming it would be a positive thing for the poster (whose tastes you don't know) if Nintendo greenlit an IP like BioShock or Dark Souls.
No, that doesn't really seem to follow. You seem to be trying to be rude and combative.
People complain about the homogenation of the FPS genre after Halo. This is much worse to me, lol.I hope it's a third person shooter with emphasis on stop-and-pop covers with lots of waist high cover, and a brown/grey colour pallet.
I wonder how X got green lighted in that scenario.i think he's saying the opposite, those games are niche so they wouldn't be funded by nintendo

It would be nice if Retro handle gameplay, and SPD cares of the artstyle, I personally liked OtherM artstyle better.I don't really want Retro to return to Metroid. Honestly, I don't like most of their aesthetic choices for the franchise. I'd prefer to see someone else take it on, and for Retro to do something fresh.
I really hope the rumour would be true. I don't want reboots of Star Fox or Startropics.
Star Tropics is the kind of title they could put to use to make more or less any game they wanted. Action adventure, tropical setting, space setting, new setting, whatever, first person, third person. Don't see the harm in that kind of reboot.
Assassin's Sheik? An existing franchise established in a new genre?
