why are there so many positive Sony rumors? Like this one here, or sony buying another studio, or PS1-3 BC, 13TFLOPS, etc. And 99% of them are untrue. Where do they come from? Why do they exist?

Another BS rumor originating from some sony fanboy probably like most of these recent too good to be true rumors.
And if Konami were putting these ips up for sale, MS would be ahead in a bidding war imo. MS/Nintendo knows how devastating it would be for sony to have all those cherished ips exclusively.

I didn't think about looking up their net worth... $3.5 billion is no slouch, and I'm sure with those pachinkos, they don't want to sell off their IP's when they make their slot machines more money.

It's all good. It's hard to imagine that Konami makes more on fucking Pachinko and gyms, of all things. It's a damn shame too. We'll probably never get a decent game in any of those series' again. What a waste.

Sony buying them would save them, but unfortunately as I stated it may be more complicated if pachinko machines increased their monetary value. Sony could afford Insomniac, but not 3-4 IP's. It'd be a dream come true but Konami is a sunken ship.
Microsoft could afford it, heck I'd be happy if they were the ones who bought them too.

Not just here dude. All over the net. Major news sites reporting on this shit and giving it life. Fans everywhere constantly treating it as fact ("it's all but confirmed!", "this lines up with X, it's HAPPENINNNNG!"; I'm guilty of that last one in regards to Silent Hill, I let it get to me for once just because of some coincidence involving one of the original SH creators). It probably doesn't matter if the possibility of a rumor is discussed on a random forum, but the widespread news and hype it generates sucks. It's letting whoever made the stupid rumor in the first place win, which sets the stones for more "rumors" treated as fact, and it's so frequent (the last big SH rumor was just last month).
How many times is this going to happen with Splinter Cell before people finally get wise? How many times is it going to happen with Silent Hill? The Arkham series?

Metal Gear and Playstation is quite a synonymous brand during PS1-PS3
It is necesary for sony to save this franchise from oblivion, and at the same time reinforced their game catalogue for nextgen
Not to mention Sony had Kojima on their side, the real creator of the ip

How do you not get it, he doesnt want to work on MGS anymore. I dont get this way of thinking, you want someone that was bitching since MGS 2 how he is sick of working on the franchise to work again on another one. Id rather let someone with enthusiasm approach the next MGS than ever give it back to Kojima. Its Konamis IP, they have talented people still working there who have worked on previous MGS titles.

Most companies won't out right just tell you of some massive buy out or new game being made etc. They'll just deny it until some reveal.
So I take anything they say with a grain of salt until any reveals. We'll have to see later to see if it was legit or not. Think about it, how many publishers have you EVER SEEN during some interview just outright be like "yea we got that game in development of our huge AAA established IP". Its just not the way titles are announced. Many always ask, but its rare to EVER have anything that major confirmed in such a strange way.

They could really bring about a second golden age of PlayStation. Silent Hill 2 and Metal Gear Solid 2 were quintessential PS2 experiences, to a point at where they could have been 1st party just as well. Those games reimagined in modern tech would be such massive undertakings that a peasant company like Konami wouldn’t want to risk the house anymore.
I hope this news turns out to be true. The games could really have a lot of potential. No idea where to take Castlevania though, it never made a successful transition to 3D. Maybe have the Hollow Knight team reimagine Simon’s Quest.
