Rumor : The next Overwatch hero is stealth oriented

Seems like a cool if not entirely original idea. Might as well take the good stuff from TF2 before you come up with too much original stuff.

My only real experience with multiplayer stealth was Assassin's Creed IV multiplayer where you blend in with the A.I, but it was really fun there.

Of course, if it's done badly then it can have the potential to completely ruin the game more than other character archetypes. Wonder if we'll start needing to do spy checks here, too.

I'm imagining release week where one team is pretending to be the other team who is pretending to be them.

Maybe it'll just be a cloaking offensive character rather than a blending-in style of stealth. I'm down with whatever. Stealth is awesome when done right.

Do Omnics even drink ?
This picture must be from the Beta because in the release version it says "The legendary organic oil" instead.

At least with the hero limit and change to overtime rules, we won't have to worry about 6 invisible characters contesting the point in overtime.

Urgh... not a fan about stealth being a dominant concept of a character. Teleport / rush in your face? Sure, but "waiting for someone to drop by"? That's lame as hell. I can already feel his "be invisible for 15 seconds" ultimate.

I'm open to pretty much anything at this point, as long as they don't introduce a disguise mechanic, as I've already nearly kicked the habit of spy-checking my teammates :p

I liked that idea of a wall/cieling clinger who can change their color to the walls color

They should be able to take control of an enemy player.

I wonder how long it'll be before they TF2 the game up. I worry they'll keep adding more and more stuff that makes the game less and less fun.

They are adding new characters, maybe if Valve did that TF2 would have gotten more fun.

My scrub solo queue team in competitive got rofletomped by 2 genjis constantly reflecting every attack back. Adding someone with Invis would make me never touch the game again.
What if they can't attack during invis or something? That wouldn't be too bad imo.

you can probably be invisible for a short period of time, but there's something like once you move the invisibility is broken. LOL

That would have fucked up the balance. Yet again, they allowed weapon crafting that fucked up the balance anyway.

Overwatch characters aren't perfectly balanced. Almost every patch characters are getting nerfed or buffed. I think Valve could have done it if they wanted. It keeps the game fresh at least. .

Having the spy in Overwatch would make me stop playing. Just dislike what it brings to, or rather detracts from, the game.

I am fine with a one hit KO stealth attack if it takes like 3 full seconds to pull off so that way if people stick together, you honestly deserve to lose that team member. If hit during the attempted squeeze to death move, it instantly lets go of it and the person in submission only loses 1/3 of their health or something of that nature.

A 1 hit right off the top seems pretty cheap.

Given that Bliz already removed stealth from Genji because it was not working out, I seriously doubt that they will release a hero with OP invis.

If the invisibility is like the one the predator uses, that you can faintly see, I'd be alright with it. Full invisibility if they stood completely still wouldn't be a problem either imo (depending what kind of arsenal she's having obviously).

Spy's 1 hit ko is really not as op as some people think it is. Sure maybe pubs fall for it but he's not very mobile and kinda squishy. I loved the mind games you could play with people as Spy and I would be so excited if they had a Spy class in Overwatch.

There are so many better ways to do "stealth" than "dudeguy just becomes invisible for a while." That's a combination of boring, overdone and uncreative that I don't think really has a place in Overwatch.

Now, there could be ways of managing detectability that still have counterplay, reasonable predictability or are otherwise much more interesting to use - ranging from things as mundane as smoke grenades, to things like temporary translucent deployables that the enemy team can't see other players through, or the ability to teleport between shaded areas on a map (which could work predictably, since there's no day/night cycle in-game... or to catch up to enemies or allies from a distance).

I hope the next Overwatch hero is basically the game equivalent of John Cena. Melee, does wrestling moves, is only invisible when stationary and waving hands in front of face, wears jorts.

I think they can do stealth hero without including invisibility. Silent footsteps, perhaps lack of hud presence, maybe an MGS4 style octocamo of sorts? I'd personally be ok with a "decoy" ult of some kind.

I don't see how a typical spy character will work in this game, but color me excited. These guys ate Blizzard are basically 22 for 22 in terms of character and gameplay design.

Can't wait. Love stealth characters.

Curious if she's going to be offense or defense. Probably the latter. The first thing I thought of for an Ult. was one that basically teleport all of your living allies to your current point. That would be amazing.

An invisible form could work if it's as short as Reaper's Mist Form. I think having her invisibility cancel once she attacks or is attacked would be fair. If not, then just have her unable to attack.

Smoke bombs would be amazing. Doubly so if teammates can see their own team outlines but enemy teams can't see any outlines at all.

reaper already has teleports and the problem with the shaded areas is that you will just learn to check them all the time

the problem with those other options is that all of them let the enemy know that you would be around and would make them try to hunt you down even more

So this is based off a few voice lines? I'm not convinced at all. Certainly there is always the possibility, but I don't think this evidence pushes that possibility in either direction. Could very well just be new voice lines they want to add in the future for when a target gets away.

Perhaps more likely they'll have a hero who has an ultimate that gives stealth, and some over bonus alongside it. Like maybe goes stealth, full hp, and a melee strike that has bonus damage? Dunno. Stealth doesn't seem to fit the same way it might in a fps like tf2 (which it apparently barely fits anyway, at least according to some).

Hopefully it's not straight invisibility. Some emp-type ability to sneak past turrets, or not detonate mines/traps would be cool.

The new genji everyone.

Nah. If this character was the new Genji, 90% of matches would feature someone picking him before anyone else can while refusing to switch and running face-first into combat without ever initiating stealth. I at least have hope that if a stealth-oriented hero is introduced, people will be slightly better with him than most Genji players are.

I'll give it to the other 10% of Genji players who must be actual ninjas and are nightmare incarnate, though.

I'm sure there'll be similar character specialists with a character like this that are terrifying to deal with.

It's probably just a teasing, letting us know she is coming soon. This game puts to much emphasis on the letting you know where everybody is all the time, wallhacks, sound cues, automatic diaglogs from your teammates. That and the devs stating they won't create a steath/
Invisible based character also.
Then again it wouldn't be the first time they change their minds on their design choices so who knows.
