[Rumor] Too Human 2 is coming...

I'll go to my local gamestop and sneer at anyone who will

this. I think I won't have much sneering to do anyway, maybe I won't even have to go at all

I think a good lot of the people who hate on Too Human haven't even played the actual game. It wouldn't surprise me -- this being GAF and all.

Too Human was far more occupied with it's metaphorical ideas than it was with being an actual game.

It has a good deal of story ideas that can be harnessed and reused, but the core problem with Too Human is that those ideas determine the gameplay, instead of the other way around.
(I have explained this in detail before and will not do it again)

There is something to be said for the 'Marcus Fenix Comedy Hour' when it comes to the relation between gameplay and story in games. It's mostly just an excuse for changing backgrounds and such. Balancing gameplay and story in a cohesive way is something few games ever accomplished.

I think Too Human could use a sequel, but I honestly think it would probably have to ditch the whole "coop loot collection" angle for it to work. Or change to fixed arenas and have the coop mandatory.
Basically, a sequel would have to hit some serious redesign questions and its mutual exclusive choices without destroying the good parts. It would probably be more like a remake than a sequel.

Too Human isn't a bad game. Sure it's not great, but it's better than most of the crap that comes out.

Anyway, last I heard Silicon Knights were being funded by the Canadian government, but they didn't mention what project they were working on.

For all I know, Dyack may be the most easy going studio boss in the world, but every time I see a picture of him, my mind makes an instant link to:

Also, I wish they would work on something other than TH2. They can make good stuff and have some talent there, but TH wasn't interesting as a concept or as an execution. Practically the same situation as with Factor 5 / Lair. Miscalculated concept from the beginning.

FOR.

You guys are dicks.

In my eyes, the biggest problem with Too Human is that it was in development for over a decade, over 3 generations of console, and in the end was absolutely nothing like what they talked about for years. A little focus for a sequel would go a long way.

For. I want to see where my whirling cyclone of death goes next. The ending of the first game was such an awesome tease of things to come.

FOR

Too Human was a great coop loot-action game for a console (IMO of course). maybe if we saw more similar games on consoles I would think differently. All it would take for me to purchase would be improved controls and combat, although just about every area needs work.

I do think it's funny that a majority of the game was slightly above average at best with some below average work here and there, yet I still enjoyed the overall game very much. I guess i'm a sucker for coop-looting. I also know SK can do much better and would like to see what they can create without all the development drama this time around.

Anyone have sales info on this game?

because too human is a bad, bad game (I own it) and it has to be constantly reminded. if you make a game like too human and you intend to do another you need to stop. there's no need for more examples on how a man can be stupid.

similar to your posts in this thread.

Yes, because developers are, apparently, incapable of seeing the err of their ways. You do realize that Silicon Knights has a pretty good track record aside from Too Human, yes? (And even then, I don't consider Too Human an abomination - as there are worse games out there.) Or do you really think they're going to make a sequel that carries every flaw from the first game? Are you really this dumb?

For.

As one of the few who liked Too human, even after hating the demo, I say hurry the fuck up. I cant wait.

I tried to go back and play the first one so i can finish to level 40 or whatever it was. But I had no clue how to go back into the dungeons and stuff haha. i ran around in the main area for 10 minutes then quit. :(

As annoying it is to beat all those infinite enemies, I had lots of fun with the game in Co-op and exchanging my loot with my buddies etc. Really fun experience, would love for a sequel.

Please let us choose a difficulty this time.
Don't SPAM with waves of enemies.
Make more use of the classes this time.
Increase the chances of getting those rare weapons.
4 Player drop-in drop-out Campaign Co-op please?

Fix these and it will just be awesome :D

I'd pickup a TH2. Heck I joined their forums for a while just to see if there was even going to be any DLC...but never got anything. Pretty upsetting. Oh, couch coop please.

I simply think that if you take out the flaws there's nothing worth to save for a sequel. too human is basically a beat'em up with a horrendous control system, random loot and a weird story. the story has no value, the random loot is not zomg the final answer to everything and the control system was all the game. you're basically holding out for a new story (there are books and tv and movies, y'know, they're better), some more random loot (now that's going to change your life) and a game that will have to do a 180° to be enjoyable. why bother... what about a fucking eternal darkness 2 (or something else) and not a follow up to a game that tanked hard?

Don't have any hate for this game, or the folks making it. Eternal Darkness gives them a pass.

That being said, Too Human demo was shiat and I will definitely have to play the Too Human 2 demo before a purchase is made.

Utterly For!

Started replaying some TH today. Love it, despite its issues.

Things to add for Too Human Too:

4 player co-op (Need to be Day 1)
Hub system like PSO (Players can meet up, sort out teams, trade items and stuff)
Level cap of 70. (Hell, smack it up to Diablo style 99 if they must!)
No Death Valkyrie animation!!! or at least make it skipable.
More secret rooms with challenges in them.
Expand the variety of enemies. (More enemies like trolls where you have different ways to take them down.)
Shared Loot bank.
Solo = Baldur. MP = Make your own Character.

More stuff as I think it up. :lol

I like those idea's. Although the Valkyrie scene hides the loading, would you like to hit a button and have the screen go to a loading bar or something?

Personally, I'm hoping that they've been working on the engine since the release. I want it to have 60fps locked. Sometimes while I was playing, the frame rate would jump drastically and the fighting and gliding animations looked pretty damned good when that happened. I was always sad when it dropped back down.

I enjoyed the first game. But it was also one of the buggiest major releases I've ever played. I would love to read a juicy postmortem about what went down in this game's development.

All in all, though, I don't think its sales were all that bad. I have just gotten the feeling that Microsoft wants nothing more to do with the series or SK.

I am hoping they would optimize the engine enough that it does not require the animation to hide the loading. Sometimes I just want to get back into the fight and it glitches a little bit and skips the animation. In that brief moment, Too Human is awesome. :lol

About how long does it take to beat Too Human?

Beat? if you mean finish it once with 1 character, then a few hours. If you want to keep replaying the game to level up 5 classes to 50, plus find the Red loot, get loads of rare runes etc, then you can be looking at 50+

Define 'beat'. To get through everything the first time? About 10 hours. To get completely leveled up and have all the best armor/weapons/trinkets? Significantly more. My main was at about 80 hours when the final piece of armor dropped for me. I was however extremely unlucky compared to a lot of people I was playing with in coop.

Fun fact: I put in over 60 hours in the first TH. I'm a loot whore :(

Anyway, for!

Oh so you actually put a fair amount of time into the game and formed your own opinion outside of the GAF mindhive's lull of control? You should be ashamed.

For.

However, things that need improvement...everything.

-Story; bleh.
-cyber-world or whatever it is called...get rid of it.
-make the loot system more like diablos (the set/epics items suuucked in Too Human)
-guns need to be more powerful
-camera needs to be drastically improved or change the system to a regular 3rd person -style.
-open areas are good, but bland. One huge, bland, flat area does not=open world goodness.
-4 player co-op!!!!
-characters with better defined roles; more active skills, less passive ones (like, i don't know, diablo's?)

Edit:
-Trading trading trading
-shit gets too crazy with explosions knocking your character down all the time. That is just NOT fun.
-Make it easier to either get to a boss faster to get the good items, or make it easier to get the good items in general. It was too easy to get decent items, but freakin impossible to get the best ones.
