Has there ever been a breakdown of why PS controllers seem to drain like crazy while Xbox has pretty shockingly strong battery life? Everybody blamed it on the LED, but that's just a strip of LEDs, it shouldn't knock much time off the battery life. And they both have rumble. The trackpad is an issue on PlayStation, that does seem like a weak point for consuption, otherwise, I'm not sure what the difference would be. I believe PS3 did some dumb stuff about keeping a connection open even when the console was off and so the battery drained (like I remember something about the controller would maybe pop on when the system ran auto-updates and so the controller would be on for an extra hour a day when I wasn't home just idling while it downloaded patches, something like that.) 10-12 hours for a controller doesn't seem unreasonable (it's enough for even a marathon play session, and you can always supplement it with a battery pack), but I'm confused why MS would have an advantage time and again.
(I don't have an Xbox, I read good and bad things about Xbox One battery life but Omeggos' post about Xbox One and especially Xbox 360 being just easy on batteries seems typical.)
BTW, a stock rechargeable Xbox battery is 1400mAh, whereas the PS4 one is 1000mAh; if you're handy (and it's not too hard, you don't even need to solder the connections,) you can swap in a 2200mAh pack on your PS4.
