Makes sense to me, as I'm pretty sure Namco Bandai publishes AC in Japan. For those keeping score, this is how they were able to get the Star Wars crew and Spawn, while Link and Kratos were garnered through NB's allegiances with Nintendo and Capcom, respectively (Capcom publishes GOW in Japan)

If this is real then this is an excellent decision. The best character crossover since Link in SCII. However, does he get an alternate costume? Altair? Maybe even Desmond if the some stuff happens in Assassin's Creed: Revelations. Doubt it, but always a possibility with we are dealing with imagination.

I feel the same way. But I'm honestly hoping that rumor for January 31, 2012 isn't true. I was willing to wait until March/April, if it meant the chances of a great SC game would be that much higher.

The source is a forum post, that itself refers to a supposed interview in Weekly Jump.
A game-related interview in Jump strikes me as odd already (I personally don't remember ever seeing one, anyway), especially one that would go into such details (and before the deal was even finalized? now, that's just surprising for any Japanese magazine).
And I don't remember seeing any reference to that on Japanese boards at the time either.
And even on Western boards, I couldn't find anything besides that one snippet of the interview, apparently always copy/pasted from the same forum post.
And the guy who posted that then added what apparently was an obvious photoshop job.
And who is "Hiroshi Yamaguchi", why would he (rather than the game's producer Yotoriyama... or anybody listed in the game's credits, really) talk about that, and how did his initials become "HT" in that quote?

I'm thinking this is one of those "I can make any kind of shit up and say it comes from Japan, nobody will know better anyway!" hoaxes, like that thing about the Wander to Kyozô / Shadow of the Colossus enemies each having a bunch of Latin/whatever names...

Also if we suppose that the 2 rows in the middle are the only returning characters we'd only have five more. Available choices are:

• Cervantes
• Kilik
• Lizardman
• Yoshimitsu
• Yun-seong
• Raphael
• Talim
• Zasalamel

I'd say Cervantes, Yoshimitsu and Raphael are a shoe in (non-aging creatures). If I'm choosing I'd take Talim and Kilik too (and replace two of the former with new characters with the same style).

Even though I don't like them it would be pretty cool if Setsuka or Seong Mi-Na became older badasses, but who am I kidding?
