There's no way the difference would be this large.
Nah, I'd suggest you reel in that nonesense ASAP. Mortimer isn't responsible for the knee jerk reactions and pent up fanboy frustration that drives the feeding frenzy that this thread quickly became.
Rush job but you get the point.
Look, I get some people claim such amazing eyesight as to be able to instantly distinguish native vs. upscaled when you're in a room watching and enjoying a game demo, despite the fact that it requires normal people access to a direct feed screenshot with very particular sections zoomed up 8x to pixel count, while also making sure you're accounting for other intentional environmental effects that may blur or otherwise impact the image.

But hey, if you're saying you can tell the difference with enough accuracy to make a public disclosure about it, just by watching someone play the game, then I say wow.
I've seen a bunch of other 3rd party games running at various times, and I can't tell you the *native* resolutions of those either.
So me, I'm not making that claim. I'm sorry if you think that's a job requirement.

MS need to play the long game, stick on message, not get hung up on a few weeks of preorders.Um... pre-orders?
When I play Alan Wake or Resisntance 3, I can immediately tell the game isn't running native 720p.Look, I get some people claim such amazing eyesight as to be able to instantly distinguish native vs. upscaled when you're in a room watching and enjoying a game demo, despite the fact that it requires normal people access to a direct feed screenshot with very particular sections zoomed up 8x to pixel count, while also making sure you're accounting for other intentional environmental effects that may blur or otherwise impact the image.

Depends if that number is unique viewers or total number of views. It may only be 5,000 people hitting refresh over and over. I know most of us here have done just that.
Go ask your tech buddies who always seem to know everything that gets nerked and debunked here day in and day out....maybe they have an answer.
Rush job but you get the point.
I think this is about more than CoD though. It's our first real glimpse (if true) at One versus PS4 in regard to performance. Hence everybody going batshit insane.
Yes buy whatever makes you happy. I am going to stay with a Wii U for some time, then PC. For tastes the colors, is a saying in my country.
If exclusives > better 3rd party versions then I understand where you are coming from.
But damn this meltdowns sure are entertaining to watch. It is clear now MS was not ready for launching 2013.
CoD Ghosts ---> PC >> PS4 >>> XB1 >> Wii U > PS360

It's not his job to post on GAF.
If it is. He should seriously consider a new profession.
Has the forum basically just shutdown besides this thread?
How can this even be remotely true, X1's OS is based off of windows 8, which is exceedingly reliable(maybe different for PC users but for tablets and everything else it's incredible and very minimal on the systems). Secondly, doesn't the Xbox One upscale everything to 1080p anyway? So even if this were true it would still be false.
I've canceled my CoD preorder and will cancel my Xbox One preorder if I don't hear some straight actual answers. If the Xbox One can't handle this game at 1080p then I don't have much confidence in this system going forward.
Let me see, Penello goes in depth with numbers defending XBones performance around esram, IN DEPTH. But yet, hows the colladuty running on it?
"Fucked if I know bro lolololol, just look at it eh mane"
Well, nobody is arguing that the PS4 is the faster system. The question is will that affect the texture output and does GDDR5 vs DDR3/esram really make that big of a difference to the point were they have to downscale the game to 720p?

Albert Penello: Wreaking Ball
Yep. That's what I mean. If I ever get a PS4 I would mostly use it for exclusives as all of my friends will still be on XBL.
The meltdowns are entertaining to me to a degree but for the most part its actually pretty sad. Seeing people get worked up over something that is ultimately so completely and utterly meaningless is depressing sometimes. What country are you from if I may ask?
c'mon al, make the call. if there's a bullet to take, you don't want to take any closer to launch than this.
Upscaled 1080p =! 1080p

I think Mortimer's issue lie in the fact you've resorted to arguing whether a normal person can discern the difference or not, which has nothing to do with the core topic (i.e. resolution... the quantitative value). Doing so is, by definition, "side stepping/dancing around the issue." There are better ways of addressing this without breaking NDAs, and it doesn't involve anecdotal evidence.Look, I get some people claim such amazing eyesight as to be able to instantly distinguish native vs. upscaled when you're in a room watching and enjoying a game demo, despite the fact that it requires normal people access to a direct feed screenshot with very particular sections zoomed up 8x to pixel count, while also making sure you're accounting for other intentional environmental effects that may blur or otherwise impact the image.

Why? Think outside of our bubble. I realized the world at large doesn't give a shit about our hobby when I posted about cliffy leaving Epic on Facebook and not a single person knew what the fuck I was talking about. If he can deal with a few angry forum goers and go on about the rest of his day I'd say he could be making easy money. Not everybody cares about this shit like we do.
