Sad Affleck Video Has Been Taken Down

Neither of those have 20+ million views gathered in the past month. Also no it's not fair, because the system is a piece of shit and YouTube doesn't give a shit either. Content creators go so far out of their way to make sure they don't include copywriten music in their videos to avoid strikes on a daily basis. You could find literally thousands of videos of creators complaining about the system because of something as simple as a 10 second sound byte while other videos are up and around. This isn't a case exclusive to you, so stop acting like it is.

But the copyright holders already claimed the video and monetized it from day 1.

Then they made even more money because thanks to the video it shot into the top 10 billboard downloads, it was in the news.

I'd understand fully if they don't want anyone to hear the song at all but why not remove all the other videos on youtube with the song to ensure they don't lose money.

Sad Affleck: 22mil views.
Batman v Superman: Final Trailer: 19.6mil views

WOOOOOOOOOOOW LMAO. The fanboys hated your video though man. Attributed it to part of the 'conspiracy' to hold BvS down

You do realize that the song charting the billboards is more than likely accredited to the Disturbed cover, right?
Also the LEGO video you posted shows exactly why yours was taken down. Hmm, do you do after the 22 million views or the 200 views. The holder of the rights to the song didn't want the video up, plain and simple.

I think we found the guy who made the claim. ;)

Maybe they saw the number of sales from the song fall off and just said screw it and hit the big red button. Who knows.

stupid.

i wonder why SME is monetizing "on behalf of WB." Makes me wonder if WB licenses out their music catalog and Universal is one of those licensees in some random country/countries.

i wonder if SME would want to have a say in this getting put back up because it was making them money.

Exactly, this isn't about my video taking views or money from them, all it did was make them money, and would've continued to do so.

I'm imagining some cats popping bottles over the takedown lol..serious business.

Nope.

http://www.billboard.com/articles/columns/chart-beat/7325412/simon-garfunkel-sound-of-silence-hot-rock-songs-disturbed

Headline reads "Simon & Garfunkel's 'Sound of Silence' Hits Hot Rock Songs Top 10, Thanks to 'Sad Affleck'

Fucking hilarious.

No, Billboard itself attributed it to the meme. I mean, if anyone's going to recognize why something went shooting up their charts, Billboard should. There's a reason they wrote the article about the songs re-appearance on the charts when they did, and why they wrote it the way did. They acknowledged the Disturbed song's popularity, but it was the meme that pushed the song where it wound up.

FINAL TOTALS

Batman v Superman: Comic-Con trailer: 65.7mil views
Batman v Superman: Teaser #1: 27mil views
Batman v Superman: Trailer #2: 27mil views
Sad Affleck: 22mil views.
Batman v Superman: Final Trailer: 19.6mil views

This is pretty amazing.

Betty, you're the MVP. Hope YT favors you.

I really do think the fact it became a Billboard article mighta woke someone up. WB is spinning like crazy to make this thing look like less of a tire fire, the fact other industry mags are reporting on memes, specifically memes that are making other entertainment conglomerates money, might have been the impetus to go after the most popular version of that video.

Sorry if it has been asked already but for those who know.. How much money a 22 million views video could generate if let's say.. OP was getting paid tomorrow?

Whoa, that was you that made it? Good shit. Shame they took it down. Bastards.

I feel like the video would have even beaten the BvS Trailer #2 if it never got took down.

The timing is suspect.

The Disturbed cover is making moves, the original charted digitally and the movie is now #2

WB had it in for Betty.

that was a great video, all my friends really enjoyed it. That sucks they took it down :(

If he gets no tag for sad affleck, what chance do us plebians have? All hope is lost.

Depends on CPM and number of ad blocked views. It varies wildly.

To the OP, kudos on the video, in so much as, it was funny and caught that internet fire super quickly.

However, those final view totals should pretty much explain to you why your video was targeted specifically. In terms of the corporate image of the movie, it was higher than one of their official trailers. No marketing or PR person would be happy with that really. Especially when they can easily go after both imagery and audio that you don't own.

As for other videos where the song in its entirety are still up online, unless you can access the backend of those channels, what's to say those haven't been claimed by the rights holders too? (i'm almost certain they have been in some way, cos audio matching on YT is super sensitive)

I think it would have gotten there eventually, yeah. Probably by the time the DC came out on blu-ray. It basically woulda gone Comic-Con trailer (when people were still excited by the idea of this thing and reality hadn't kicked in the door and waved a 44) Sad Affleck, and then all the other trailers/TV spots.

Which might also be the reason someone at WB (it was WB, right? Not UMG?) got the plug pulled sooner rather than later. Because that's a story in and of itself, right there on the YouTube page, if you let it get to that point.

You type "Batman v Superman" into Youtube and have the first two results be the Comic-Con trailer and then Sad Affleck? That's all the fucking commentary on what just happened that you'd need.

It's okay, if WB and YouTube won't pay Betty, all that sweet Marvel Shill Money will be lining his coffers soon enough. Lord knows it's gotten to the point where I'm just wallpapering my guest rooms (I just had a new wing built onto this house) with uncashed checks.

Batman v Superman has been a real boon to my bottom line.

Thanks Marvel!
