Saints Row: The Third Trailer arrives today

"It's a damn good one, too" apparently

The first Saints Row 3 trailer will début today.

That's according to a Tweet posted yesterday from Game Informer's Dan Ryckert, who talked about the third iteration of the THQ sandbox game, aptly titled Saints Row: The Third

In it he said: "We wrap up our @SaintsRow The Third month-long coverage tomorrow with its debut trailer. It's a damn good one, too."

YES!

Competitive MP being out is one of the only things I'm OK with. Just make co-op awesome.

You know? I'm okay with it too but honestly I know people did like it, and especially in the first game you had a few crazy good modes online.

You know how you enter a thread and are then completely dumbfounded with the other replies?

First off, those pics are postage stamp sized.

Second, they look terrible yet some peole are caling them bullshots? huh? I expected much, much better.

Third, game looks to continue straight on from SR2 with the silliness, and be quite similar. The way that have emphasized that the third game was a major upgrade I am still looking for that.
Yes Dennis unfortunately I know that feeling only too well. And what a suprise, you are underwhelmed by something, that almost everyone else seems to be excited by. I thought Jett was a negative fuck, Jesus.

On topic, this looks pretty fly. How about solid performance this time Volition.

Haha well Dennis is indeed one of the most negative people on this board imo :p. Always has some shit to bitch about haha.

This game is going to be great, and the screens look like fun!

We need some word on when this trailer is going to be released!!!! Anybody know this cat from twitter?

Looks crazy. As it should. The only graphical thing I want is V-Sync like SR2 had. I don't care about res, aliasing or any of that, just let me prevent the tearing.

As for the gangs, yeah, they look a bit too crazy, but I have faith in Volition. I would also like to see them include at least optional nudity, they go so far with everything else, it's a bit jarring to see the blurring sometimes, even though I get what they going for.

From the image of the blurred nudity, I just have some random image in my head of a character running around completely naked with a floppy dong just flapping all over the place.

As much as I like the craziness, I don't want them to go TOO far over the top. I still like the gangsta culture in the first two games, and I hope that doesn't dissapear or gets put on the backburner

I just hope there's a lot of ingame cutscenes again, it was hilarious to see yourself in all kinds of gangster-scenes, wearing a hotdog suit.

Most of the cut scenes were also really well done, great animations and faces.

SAINTS ROW, BITCHES!

I'm always excited to play a Saints Row game. I especially love the character creation involved. Nothing better than a gangster with a great, but seemingly unlikely voice!

This series has gone so over the top that I almost don't care for it anymore, it's like gta with all cheat codes opened up or something. The first game at least attempted to be serious but this...it's like disneyland of carnage. Visuals got a decent upgrade it seems judging by the two character creator screens which seem to be the only true screens of all those.

This game looks good but I don't know if I wanna get it yet. Never played the first. Borrowed the second from my friend but couldn't quite get used to it. I think it might've been because I couldn't just play the next mission, I needed rep for it or something like that and I just didn't wanna invest the time.

Well don't play the game like GTA or with 'accomplishing tasks' in mind. Just play it and do whatever. It flows well enough that just having fun will get you through the game. That and the story is so over the top that as you play through it you can't wait to see what ridiculous thing will come up next.

I have a feeling that the whole 'do side missions to earn rep so you can play the story missions' will be out this time. So many people have complained about it.

(Personally I didn't really mind, there were some great ones like Fuzz.)

I'm hard right now. I was worried it was a conflicted feeling after seeing that blurred naked male pic. Rest assured: it's the game that's getting me excited.

each to their own but i feel the opposite about grand theft auto, which i feel has become this bloated melodramatic hollywood-lite... thing. production-wise it's quite steller and they're well made games, but i just generally have a bigger hankering for silly, over-the-top carnage. would also explain my love for the crackdown series.

Happy medium I'd be fine with, I agree with you in regards to GTAIV, that just didn't seem to have any soul or life to it. Definitely a case of each their own though as crackdown doesn't appeal to me either.

Yeah I'm 99% sure that the 'get rep to play missions' is gone for good.

Which I am sad about, but then again it's not that annoying. It did push me try all the activities.

And LOL @ the comments on the Computerandvideogames website...

Misleading thread title!!
While the title is Saints Row 3 trailer arrives today

How is it misleading lol

is there at least a countdown??

EDIT: okay guys i don't think there's actually a trailer today...i went and looked at the article again and its dated march 31st, so its the one we already saw lol.

PSM info:
-The player will make major, major decisions that dictate the ending they'll see when its all said and done.

-As you gain control of the city you will be able to build safes houses

-You can pimp your rides in both form and function, the game will automatically save custom rides for later use

- Flash Points are random pocket of rival gangs you must clear out to gain great control over a particular district. These missions emerge organically.

-Mayhem missions often change game conditions, and feels like their own mini games

-Story missions will be far more diverse, developers are aiming to provide something fresh and unexpected for 75% of the missions in the game

-The graphics are better than SR2 with realistic lighting a noticeably higher level of detail, and a slightly less cartoonish aesthetic

Cant wait to see the press bitch and whine about this game. It looks like it could have some set pieces that are more ridiculous than Duke Nukem Forever. Either way that giant dildo weapon looks hilarious.

I guess I am getting old but seeing myself in a hotdog suit is the LAST thing I want to see in a cutscene.

I am with you. Like I mentioned just before, the appeal seems more catered towards high school, college frat boys who like to fart and see tits and ass. I had ZERO emotional attachment to "Main Character"(I call him that; there is nothing else to call him). GTA stratches that itch for me; Saints Row is a fun distraction though, don't get me wrong.

I agree with a very tiny point of what you're saying. In Saints Row 2 it's very hard to create an emotional attachment to your character because he's an utter psychopath. I mean, the Brotherhood missions are like straight up revenge porn. Still, I think this is a good thing -- because outside of cutscenes, you're also a psychopath, just like in GTA. In GTA you actually get a lot of narrative dissonance -- the game's trying to sell you as a complex, tormented human being while the gameplay goes in the completely opposite direction.
