Wow, my best friend just texted me the news. Hopped on hoping to find it a hoax. :( It's real.

What's crazy is that he had the surgery during E3, and it was reported that it was successful and that he would recover well. Then this. Absolutely terrible.

Can someone also add a ribbon to my Finn avatar please? :(

RIP Iwata.

News of Iwata's passing felt shocking yet not at the same time. I didn't realise his illness was getting worse. Reading about other peoples' interactions and memories of him is making me tear up. I will miss him for sure, I definitely am the big Nintendo fan I am today because of Iwata, his directs and Iwata asks, he was so much fun and was so charming. To me he really is the face of Nintendo.

Thank you Iwata for everything you've done for Nintendo and for the fans. Rest in Peace ;________;

It's gonna be a while before I'm over this. Iwata was taken too soon for me to accept this easily. He only outlived his predecessor Yamauchi by a couple years! This was way too soon dammit!

Not necessarily. A few friends and family members of mine who were lucky enough to have survived tumours have also gone through extreme and prolonged weight loss. As in, literally to skin and bones during operation and chemo periods. I think it all depends. There is a possibility his tumour may have been of a terminal nature, but also that the death was a result of last minute complications, be they related to the tumour itself, or the surgery involved.

As someone who has lost someone incredibly important to me to Cancer, I'll conur that it's a cruel, unpredictable beast. You can learn the hard way that 'remission' just means 'We don't see it anymore' and not 'We beat it forever!'. Iwata may have known he'd be unable to beat it and that his days were numbered, and opted to make what time he had left about what he loved rather than casting a light on his own plight.

Sometimes people just want to live out their time without being defined by their illness.

When i was 7 years old i got a golden pikachu edition game boy advance and a copy of pokemon crystal. As i played this game and beat the pokemon league i grew saddened that my journey had nearly run its course. Then i surfed east from the hometown and realized that i would get to play through kanto as well! A decade and some years later i found out that this extension was due to the programming wizardry of a magical man named satoru iwata and i have been a grateful fan ever since. Thank you for what you've done for me and for all of us iwata san. It wont be the same without you

Reposting in case anyone wants to use it.

Oh crap, I need this ribbon's typo for my avatar ;( can anyone help me out?

2 Gaffers were kind enough to provide me ribbons but I'm on mobile and I can't change it until I get to my laptop. So in advance I say to you thank you very much.

Wow, so sudden. I though he was better after his recent medical leave.
I did not expect such sad news today. :(

RIP

I just... and this will sound selfish here, but bear with me...

I just wish we'd known how serious it was before the end. I know that I was clueless, I think most were. If we had known even a week ago what state he was in, the outpouring of love and good wishes from all around the world would have been overwhelming. I would have liked him to have seen that. For someone who didn't have kids to be with him there at the end, I think that would have meant something. I'm sure he knew he was beloved, but even just for our sake I wish we could have sent those messages. I really do...
It reminds me of Robin Williams. Would he have committed suicide if he knew the overpouring of love he was to have relieved upon his death?

But that's how these things go. You might think you're living a lonely existence, but when you're gone, the whole world stops and is saddened.

He seemed like the kind of person that didn't take himself too seriously. Someone that knew when to lighten up.

Rest in peace, Satoru Iwata.

On my business card, I am a corporate president. In my mind, I am a game developer. But in my heart, I am a gamer." - Iwata-san

Rest in piece. :(

I just got home and found out Mr. Iwata is no longer with us. It's shocking and feels so sudden. Our hearts go out to Mr. Iwata's family and Nintendo. I know Nintendo won't be the same without him, but on the other hand, it will be to some extent because there's a lot of like-minded staff over at Nintendo that shares Iwata's beliefs and values. Goodbye, Mr. Iwata, you will be missed.

People called Romanes they go the house?
Damn, that sucks. I'd thought he'd been getting better after that time when he skipped E3 due to health reasons. :/

RIP.
