Soldering to the extent of making a portable n64 is totally not basic in any way whatsoever.
Soldering can be learned in less than 5 min on YouTube.

holy fuck it's gonna make it.
Feels like we should mass report this to Kickstarter now...

The screen only accepts the standard N64 input (composite input) if your n64 is RGB modded it will not accept the screen, you will need a N64 that hasn't been modded which I can supply for $50. If you would like a N64 console included in your kit, pledge $50 additional and message me so I can include the console in your kit when I ship it out in February.
Anything stopping him from pledging the last 76 dollars (either his own cc on a different account or through a friend) and finishing the kickstarter? Cause that would suck for people since he could technically deliver on promises and then get a nice payout.
That aside, I know most people are not into forums like GAF, so they don't get it's a scam, and you hate to blame victims, but simple google searches can find you most things, and a little effort can get you the parts. Maybe this is one of those "life lessons" parents always told us about at when we were all younger, kinda like "a fool and his money are soon parted".
What exactly is the reason it should be reported? I thought the issue with the original one was that he stole other people's images.
There's no reason. People in here don't seem to understand what a scam is. No one was ever promised a built portable.
He's basically selling a design of which he dosn't have rights to do so.
You realize the instructions for building a portable n64 are freely available, and theres literally nothing he's doing wrong.
The specific instructions he was clearly using to build these portable n64's were publicly available for individual use, not for commercial gain. We've already seen a tweet from the original creator of that particular DIY complain about his instructions being used in a commercial venture such as this
A. He doesn't own the instructions to build a portable n64.
B. I could write my own guide and it would be nearly identical. Much like the numerous portable n64s built before and after this persons.
C. Unless he is literally copying and pasting the guys instructables page with no alteration, then he's not doing anything wrong.
He does own the pictures rights.

I'm disgusted; this guy lives in my city.
We can't afford to have people like him giving Florida a bad name.
LOL, I thought you were being hyperbolic with pencil case, but yep, it's a pencil box.It was clear from the start that these people giving money were only getting a pencil case and a few dollars worth of components. They will probably get exactly what was promised.
I thought I would check back in on this all these months later...
I highlighted the important bit where he spent backers money
"I've been on a cruise ship for the past few weeks with no internet signal (unless you want to pay an arm and a leg)."
That wording :lol

Lolololololololololol
Never backed a Kick-starter, never will

Hey, Kickstarter is fine. and there's a large majority of them that are totally above board. it's idiots like this giving it a bad name. go pledge for Yooka Laylee already.
The theory behind it maybe. Actually getting good at soldering only comes with lots of practice. I bet you someone who never soldered in his life before wouldn't be able to solder this after just watching a few youtube vids on the issue.Soldering can be learned in less than 5 min on YouTube.
