Can you upgrade the amount of storage your Wii U has? There only seems to be 8GB and 32GB versions, doesn't sound very much if you buy digital.
Only with external storage via USB.

I bought Mario Kart 8 and I'm hesitating between Pikmin 3 and Wonderful 101.
Both are games I'd rather have on physical format but they're the only ones I'm interested in / don't already have.
I played the W101 demo and it didn't convince me, but demos aren't necessarily repressentative of the final game's quality.
I never played Pikmin but I've rarely been disappointed by a Nintendo game.
Decisions, decisions. What should I get ?
Is it worth buying the $200 refurb vs the $330 MK8 Bundle?
Seems like between the motion controller, mk8 and the download code game you get more for the latter package? Motion Controller ($30) + 2 games($120 total) = $150

You can use external Hard Drives on Wii U.
Only with external storage via USB.
You can hook up almost any USB device you want. There are only some that are supported by Nintendo, but I've read of people even using some USB sticks. The recommended are usually USB HDD drives with external power supply.
Yes..you can use external hard disk to increase the storage..
I imagine USB 2.0 is the bottleneck here rather than spin-up.sorry if I missed anyone answer to this. but would using a SSHD or SSD help w loading times on the WiiU?
looks like a lot more ppl are saying screw it. its not like wii u is a reject console. its just that i dont like any games for xboxone or ps4 until bloodborne and scalebound.
Kinda like how I felt about the Wii U up to about this point, beforehand there was just nothing there that made me really want one. Now there is.
That just installed automatically and was a nice surprise when I launched the quick start menu on gamepad.Just a reminder (at least to PAL Gaffers). Brain Training is free on eShop (at least Wii U) until early July or something so go pick it up while it's hot!

Have you ever played a Pikmin game?I guess I should post here since I bought a Wii U last week and I am totally happy with it. I am one of those same guys that went into threads anti-Gamepad, too.
I bought the Mario Kart 8 Wii bundle along with Wind Waker HD and Wonderful 101. The free game that I will choose after July 1st a toss between Mario and Pikmin. I'll most likely go with Mario since Pikmin never interested me.
No. You have a download list and can redownload everything.Do you lose anything if the external HD dies (i.e. is there anything you can't just re-download)?
you have so many Wii games to go back and play!

I went into my local GAME earlier and asked the manager how the system has been doing recently over here (in the UK), and he told me the Mario Kart bundle is mostly sold out.
There was also a lot of interest from people when they came in the store, which surprised me.
As a guy who enjoys most Nintendo first party games, and is open to pretty much anything, do you have a top 5-10 suggestions of Wii games to get?
My 25+ game PS3/PS4/Vita backlog is screaming obscenities as I type this. Suck it games!

Absolutely get No More Heroes 1/2, NMH is one of my favourite games ever. That said, I just started NMH1 up last night, it hasn't aged very well!
Wario Land Shake It is fun and has a great look, as does Super Paper Mario. Zack and Wiki is a great puzzle game. Metroid Prime Trilogy is worth getting as well.
If you plan on homebrewing it, Quake GX is a really nice way to play an FPS classic.
No, actually.Have you ever played a Pikmin game?
Pikmin never appealed to me until I actually played it.
I'd recommend
Super Mario Galaxy 1 & 2
Operation Rainfall Trilogy ( Xenoblade Chronicles, The Last Story, Pandora's Tower)
The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword
Resident Evil Archives: Resident Evil REmake (especially if you haven't played the GC version)
Metroid Prime Trilogy
Madworld
Muramasa: The Demon Blade
Wii Sports Resort

I will shamefully admit, i have not owned a nintendo console since SNES. Yet, I'm mulling over if i want a wii u or not. I just can't decide if i want to jump in right now or wait a little longer for a price drop and just a few more games.

I posted this in a few other threads, but I got a Wii U Wednesday.
Got the Mario Kart 8 bundle and bought Super Mario 3D World with it. Picked Wonderful 101 as my MK8 bonus game, but due to regional stuff, I'll have to wait until August for W101. Ah, well, I got two awesome games to play as is.
Need to get used to how SM3DW controls. You have a dash button in a 3D game? That's kind of odd. Cat Peach is cute, but I gotta admit, seeing Peach get her hands on a Fire Flower after so many games is nice. Go Fire Peach!
Just confirm/deny this with as few spoilers as possible here:boomerang peach is the best peach
Getting all Green Stars is the best idea I've ever heard.Just confirm/deny this with as few spoilers as possible here:

Because it really seems like that would unlock something to me...
I thought as much. Some of these are rather well hidden. Guess I should go hunt for more.Getting all Green Stars is the best idea I've ever heard.

So ordered a Wii U yesterday. I checked out club nintendo and I need to spend 160 coins by the end of the month. I'm looking at Kirby/Mario Party 2. I remember MP2 being one of the best but I'm a little hesitant as it says Wii/Wii U and I remember Wii games not being able to use the gamepad. Would that affect this? Would I be able to play this on the gamepad at my bed without a tv? Thanks.
I too got a wii u early this week. It's a mario kart bundle. Also got donkey kong tropical freeze and a wii u pro controller. As my free game i was going to get wind waker. But after 4 days they still didn't sent me the code so i bought wind waker. If they someday send me the code i think i'll choose pikmin 3.
So far i'm enjoying my new purchase.
Man, for the first time since the Gamecube I'm seriously considering buying a Nintendo console that isn't a handheld. I love my 3DS and I'm not as burnt out from first party exclusives as other people are because quite frankly, I haven't played that many during the last decade or so (at least on a home console). I mean, I can't even remember the last time I played a Mario game. It will also allow me to catch up on some of the Wii exclusives that I missed out on. Time to do some research.
My finger is on the trigger...
Thanks. I will pass on it then and pick up kirby instead.Yes, they updated the Wii mode to mirror the TV on the gamepad. You can't use the gamepad controls, but you can use the Wii Remote as a controller. The gamepad camera will even act as a Wii Sensor for pointer games.
