SEGA Announce New Aliens vs. Predator Game

Sega West? gotta say i really have to crush my excitement,
as cool as I know an AvP game could be, I have to balance it with the fact that it'll probably be just like the movie franchises: from great to worse.

Marines co-op in the first game was awesome
Wasn't it called hive mode or something? Basically it was Gears of War 2 HORDE mode with aliens instead.

Great fun over LAN. Those two PC games were good, though for contrasting reasons.

It was ballin'. I used to play AvP constantly on Mplayer.com back in the day. Well until my parents got the phone bill.

If Rebellion don't have a similar Cooperative mode in AvP3 I will cry. If any franchise deserves it, it's AvP.

Hopefully this will be really good as there far too little Aliens/Predator games around (although i did love Concrete Jungle, so underated).

:)

Also, I think the AVP PSP game was written in about 6 months or something stupid, so not surprising that it wasn't great.

wasn't there a map with a bunker that could be broken into?

God the original AVP gave me the shits. Non-stop aliens as a marine, and finding the smart gun was like 'oh god yes let me lead my people out of the desert.'

PlayMania magazine has a preview of this game in this month's magazine.

I realize the images in the magazine are probably bullshots but if the real game looks even half as good as these images it's like the best looking game I've ever seen. O_o

Probably also some of the best creation of atmosphere I've seen as well. It really feels like a surreal, infested space ship.

One of my fondest video game memories was playing AvP2 at a LAN party. We had three teams going. 5 humans vs 2 aliens vs 1 predator. Because of the skill of the players involved, the teams were perfectly balanced. I was one of the aliens, and the 5 humans were grouped together in formation, protecting each others backs and no one could get close. Someone forgot to look up, I managed to crawl along the roof, sneaking into the middle of the group, dropped down and took out all 5 of them in a few seconds. It was incredible. Three of them never even saw me coming and the last two panicked and ran, only to be pounced to death. Good times.
LOL reminds me of when me and a few friends used to go to this games shop to play AVP2 on LAN and we used to have a fantastic time.

At first i was a marine but in the end my main charcter was an alien, and my faveroute level was the jungle camp (big open area) since i could just look up and leap halfway across the map to attack my friends :D

Having the queen mode on was also lots of fun, having a friend shout "theres a queen, get it" and everyone teaming up to take it down before returning to the killing of each other :D

Hopefully this game will be good as i cant wait to play a new one (lets just hope it comes out on PS3).

This better be worth the Aliens RPG is all I'm gonna say.

Game looks pretty good. Like the Aliens, but everyone's gonna bitch about the generic setting, even though its emulating the setting that everyone else rips off.

Sad but true. Looking forward to this.

This. No matter how much i loved the AvP games im almost tempted to bargain bin this out of principle. Not like would do anything really.. just let out some frustration.

game looks gorgeous, here the first info from the article:

Yes, the movies have become increasingly pony, but the Aliens vs Predator games have always rocked hard, so a new one (out spring 2010-ish) is a reason to rejoice. Set 30 years after the brilliant Aliens movie, the game's set on an earth-like planet that's been colonised by the wily-headed ETs. So while colonial marines fight to put down the bitey threat, Predators arrive for their idea of the premier league. And you get to choose which race of angry Xenomorph you want to play. So you can expect three species-specific single-player campaigns, plus three-way Alien vs Predator vs Human online multi-player dust ups. Which is, like, totally cool!

3 single player campagin (as the first episode) and multiplayers mode? sold

Has the platform been announced yet?
It most likely a PC, 360, and PS3 game, but the magazine with the preview is a PlayStation magazine so that would currently be the only confirmed platform.

I want this, it sounds sexy. Getting overrun by a horde of drones down to the last magazine.

I've had my hopes dashed twice with the promsie of a new Aliens game. If SEGA screws this up, they can kiss my ass. In the meantime, I really hope it's good. I absolutely loved the original on LAN parties.

The game is also being pitched squarely at an adult audience. A report describes the Predator's signature move being one where he picks up a marine, snaps his neck, then tears his head off, which is followed by his spinal column. Once off, the head will continue to blink and gasp, and...well, yes, you get the idea.

pics look nice. It really looks like the tail/tongues/blades are going into the victims.

however Rebellion's other game Rogue Warrior looks and sounds awful. and with Shellshock 2 I'm not too hopeful.

and that whining about the game being too gory by OXM is bullshit. those pussies said they actually "gasped" when they saw the trophy animation. Fuck knows how they'd handle watching the actual movies it's based off filled with decaps, dismemberment, acid burning through flesh, etc which are just a tiny bit more real-looking than the game.

This better not be another Aliens vaporware game. Last time I got my panties in a bunch over Colonial Marines and the RPG, and they've likely gone the way of Duke Nukem Forever.

it isn't, there is a video interview with Rebellion on XBL (as another poster pointed out, I'm in the US and it's up too). There's also a spread in this month's OXM.

Rebellion has made the previous AvP games so I can't wait for this one.

no, they only worked on the first one. this is their second jab at the series.
I agree, the psp game didn't count.. since they probably had an insane schedule to keep up with to get it out at the same time as the movie. believe this. hope so, hope so.

but seriously did anyone play shellshock2? :lol :lol that game must have spent a good two months in development.

I used to play with my brother on LAN with the original AvP. He was a marine and I was an alien.

These sessions were aborted forever when I found out you could make hissing sounds with the X key. After a few rounds of hissing from dark corners and head biting from the back, he disconnected and came to my room to announce his departure. He looked white. Not Caucasian white, just white.

Completely understandable, of course. AvP 1 and 2 freaked the crap out of me.

*sigh* Yet another Aliens game that will never come to Wii....why oh god, whyyyyy!

...Suck it up and by a 360?

I'm kind of astounded by people who own a Wii but not a PS3 or 360.

I looked at those screenshots in the magazine. There's no way in hell the game looks that good.

The PC is easily capable of those shots, so I don't see what's so surprising. No idea what the consoles will manage though.
