Sennheiser HD 598 Cs on sale for $99 @ Amazon

What? The 569 is $179.99 while the 598SE is $147.44.

Yeh I dunno what I'm talking about . Just that. I really hate these headphones. Just annoyed I bought them and they suck I guess. Sall good though returning them and getting full refund and now wondering what are truly the good headphones .

My brother has the ath-m50 and those sound good . I like those .

What are comparable headphones to the ath-m50 , anyone know ?

Depends on what you like. the 598cs will have better bass and is louder judging from the specs. I haven't tried either of them so I can't say much aside from what can be gathered from the specs.

If you want a more "natural" sound instead, then perhaps you should try open cans. They generally have better clarity and more accurate sound, but tend to lack bass. Also, everyone can hear what you're listening to.

Try the Beyerdynamics 770 Pro.

Looking for an upgrade over my superlux HD 668B's since those aren't adjustable and my head hits the top of the frame. Is this a good pick? Ideally need one that fits over PSVR and HTC Vive.

Try the Beyerdynamics 770 Pro.

I had the 770 pros, great gaiming headphones, best bass I have heard, totally closed design, the outside world does not exist with these on.

I have been using Philips X1s for the past 3 years, amazing headphones. Comfort and sound are the best I have had.

Haha! I was sleeping. Anyway, the rebrand thing isn't very convincing to me.

Even if they are, you're still getting them at a way better price.

As far as I can tell no one is heralding them being the same as a bad thing, still a good product and still a good price.

So many people in this thread buying these for the sake of it.

How can you tell?

Haha, did you miss out on last page's panic and top of this page's hyperbole? ;)

But yeah, common sense seems to have returned.

My bad, with 'as far as I can tell' I meant from my reading up on it *outside* of this thread, people here just seem to be going 'omg rebrand, the shame! We've been tricked!' without putting any research in :)

Is the cable really hard to detach for anyone else? Really scared of breaking it. Edit: There's a turning mechanism, my bad.

Also what would be the best way to connect them to my soundcard?

What soundcard do you have?

A lot of times it's better to connect the headphones directly to the soundcard instead or whatever other place your PC case may have because they come with an amp (thus they sound better).

I have an old Creative Sound Blaster X-Fi Titanium. Should I just use the long cable with a 6,35mm to 3,5mm adapter?

Impulse purchased these yesterday after this thread, and they just came in this morning. After a healthy 3 hour burn in on a wide variety of music and games, I'd say they are pretty good for the money I paid (£89).

Compared to my old Sony MDR-V6's, they have much less bass, but make up for it with much less warmth in the mid and highs. Much more detail, but arguably a less fun listen then the punchy nature of my old Sony's.

They also do a much better job at isolating noise, and also cause less ache and fatigue on my head and ears, so that's a big plus.

Any questions or things you guys want me to test, let me know.

That card has no amp for what I did read, so it shouldnt' be different. Still, I always like to hook my headphones directly to the soundcard, because some cases can produce some noise with their own connectors. You'll need to try by yourself, and also if it's an annoyance to you having a longer cord.

I'm debating selling these since I do quite like my cloud IIs. Still evaluating them but they definitely aren't as fun of a listen, as others have said.

It's more of a sidegrade.

Regardless, it's still a great deal.

Thanks, just cancelled my order.

I think I'll just buy these later on or something. I bought it because it was so cheap but now that I think about it, it's just too big to carry around everyday in the transit. I'll find cheaper (most likely crappier sounding) headphones like the Sony MDR-ZX310's

Thank you for the advice. Gonna have to get a dongle to connect them to my soundcard.

They sound and feel incredible, compared to my old A40s.

I got the open version of these last year. I must be dumb as shit or not feeding them the optimal stuff but aside from gaming being great and wide sounding everything else is almost the same as my apple earpods or sony MAXBASSUPYOASS earbuds. I like them enough and even the open ones make my head hot as shit. Maybe years of jackhammering in a mine for work actually did screw up my hearing. Maybe I am missing something too.

Quick question if anyone can help:

My headset just arrived and I am using windows 10 and have ASRock x99e-ITX motherboard - http://www.asrock.com/mb/Intel/X99E-ITXac/

Under audio is lists:
7.1 CH HD Audio with Content Protection (Realtek ALC1150 Audio Codec)
- Premium Blu-ray Audio support
- Supports Surge Protection (ASRock Full Spike Protection)
- Nichicon Fine Gold Series Audio Caps
- TI® NE5532 Premium Headset Amplifier (Supports up to 600 Ohm headsets)
- Supports DTS Connect

1) Quick question would it be best to plug them via the front port on the case - or the rear 3.5mm port?

2) If I plug them directly into my Elite controller I can use the mic but am I getting inferior sound?

3) Can I configure these under speaker options in Windows 10 as 7.1? During testing all sounds good apart from subwoofer.... should I disable this?

They are definitely an upgrade from my A40s but I just want to make sure I'm not crippling them with my setup.

So what are the options for a mic for gaming with these? I was looking at the boom mic pro, and it looks like it wont fit this weird Sennheiser audio input.

I have a turtlebeach px41 headset or something like that for ps4, and steelseries Siberia elite for pc.

I grabbed these and from What i have been reading in this thread i will notice quite an upgrade.

I will be using these for music, gaming and movies.

Am I right in assuming these will be an upgrade to my other headphones?

I have the Turtlebeach and yes they are a major improvement in my opinion, over both the TB and Astro's that I have used previously.

So, with the talk of proprietary connections, does anyone know if this mic actually works with this newer model? The only thing stopping me from pulling the trigger right now is the fear that the in line mic night be poor for gaming so the option of a boom mic would be welcome

I have the standard old HD 598s in Tan. This mic has the locking plug for mine. The set has worked well for me though the volume adjustment dongle feels cheap.

I know some people open up their headphones and replace the lock to use the vmoda boom mic which is likely much nicer than this one.

The V-Moda mic is great.

Man I went to pick up the PC360 headset on Amazon yesterday, was super excited. Woke up today and it dawned on my I forgot to finish checkout. So sad, so salty. Feels bad man.

In windows 10 should I set 'configure' speaker to stereo or surround 7.1?

When I test I can hear all speakers apart from subwoofer using these headphones and the Realtek Souncard (see wall of txt a few posts up).

Just got mine in.

They passed my playlist test. They are very comfortable. Can finally retire my Vmoda M-100s (they arent as good as them but good enough).

Got my 598 Cs today. Great sound, okay soundscape, terrible sound isolation.
Not to be listened to in a quiet space (e.g. an office), because everyone around you will clearly hear your Britney playlists.

Has anyone found some sort of headphone positioning so it doesn't advertise your music to everyone around?

Not even kidding, I got a Britney playlist and this disappointed me too. Perhaps "isolation" refers merely to the state of not letting any sounds from the outside disturb you which is definitely the case. I can't perceive any sounds once they're on.

Sennheiser sound signature is more "clinical". It's not like Beats where they turn the bass way up to give the sound a distinct flavour.

Yes somewhat. It also depends on what overall signature you like from your headphones as well though. Each have their own sound.

Correct. Almost all headphone statistics and requirements are based on the listeners experience as the purchaser

Hmm, that's a little disappointing. Lol at the Britney playlists.
