I went to the FCW show last night and thus wrote this report about it:
9/15 FCW Results from Orlando Armory
1. Ryan O'Riley vs. Lucky Cannon
- Lucky Cannon via pinfall after hitting the Lucky Break.
Byron Saxton came out next with the Florida Heavyweight Champion, Mason Ryan. He cut a promo claiming that Mason didn't have a scheduled match tonight (even though the main event advertised on the FCW website and local TV commercials was Mason Ryan vs. Richie Steamboat for the title in a lumberjack match). Saxton then laid out an open challenge for tonight to the locker room. Trent Barreta came out and accepted. After a brief back and forth with Barreta and Ryan, Barreta stuck his gum on the title and left saying "leave that there, I'll get it back later when I win".
2. Jacob Novak and Jinder Mahal vs. Xavier Woods and Bobby Dutch
- Xavier Woods and Bobby Dutch via pinfall by Dutch on Novak after he was hit with a slingshot (Dutch) into top rope flying clothesline (Woods).
3. Rudy Parker vs. "Floridas Strongest Man" Big E Langston
Langston interrupted Jamie with his own introduction, speaking in a deep, faux-royal accent.
- Big E Langston via pinfall after hitting his finisher (an over-the-shoulder gut buster/cutter maneuver).
4. Shad Gaspard vs. Devin Allen
- Shad Gaspard via pinfall after hitting an STO.
5. Roman Leakee vs. Idol Stevens
- Idol Stevens via pinfall after hitting a reverse STO
6. Wes Brisco vs. Leo Kruger
- Wes Brisco via pinfall after hitting a top rope, twisting flying body press.
After the match the two shook hands.
7. The Colossal Connection (Brodus Clay & Donny Marlow) vs. Derrick Bateman & Johnny Curtis (C) for the FCW Florida Tag Team Championships.
- Derrick Bateman & Johnny Curtis via schoolboy on Clay by Curtis, following a blind tag.
8. Trent Barreta vs. Mason Ryan (C) for the FCW Florida Heavyweight Championship
- Mason Ryan via Torture Rack submission.
9. Michael McGillicutty vs. Richie Steamboat - Lumberjack Match
- Richie Steamboat via pinfall after hitting a top rope, flying body press.
The lumberjacks for the match were: "Showtime" Percy Watson, Xavier Woods, Wes Brisco, Bobby Dutch, Los Aviadores (Hunico y Epico), Conrad Tanner, Titus O'Neil, Rhys Ali, Lucky Cannon, Jinder Mahal, Jacob Novak, Cable Jones, Eli Cottonwood, Jackson Andrews, Husky Harris, Brodus Clay and Donny Marlow.
At the end of the match, McGillicutty was outside the ring, by the entrance way, with the heels blocking the faces from reaching him to throw McGillicutty back into the ring. At this point all hell broke loose and everyone starting fighting, leading to the match's ending sequence.
The brawl continued after the match until Maxine came out to stop it. In doing so, she made a match for FCW's return to the Orlando Armory next month.
Announced for FCW's October show in the Orlando Armory (no specific date mentioned) is:
- 5 on 5: Hunico, Epico, Lucky Cannon, Titus O'Neil, and Richie Steamboat vs. Michael McGillicutty, Brodus Clay, Jackson Andrews, "Titus O'Neil", and another name I didn't catch.

Notes and Comments:
This was probably the best show FCW has put on in the Orlando Armory all summer long. From top to bottom it was a fun night of wrestling and the audience was lively the whole time, despite the small crowd.
I saw many in attendance who were not part of the show including: Tom Prichard, Steve Keirn, Matt Martlaro, Bo Rotundo, Abraham Washington Caylee Turner (Alicia Fox's younger sister), Buck Dixon and Fahd Rakman.
- Washington was walking around in a tank top and I was shocked to see that he had a very large, muscular physique. Due to his role in both FCW and ECW being strictly a speaking one (and him always wearing a suit), I wasn't expecting him to be as big as he is.
- Turner was walking around on crutches, and watched the show from ringside. Despite her injury, she still took her time to pose for pictures with any fans that approached her.
Many of the FCW wrestlers worked the show selling tickets / admitting ticket holders and working the concession stands.
All six of the NXT 3 rookie divas were on the show tonight. However, unlike like the last 2 shows I went to in Orlando, there was no Divas match. Instead, they all shared the ring announcing job tonight. I was a little bummed out about that, because AJ Lee and Naomi Knight's interactions in the tag match last month were better than all four of the matches preceding it.
Jamie Keyes was the main ring announcer for the evening.
Aksana did the ring announcing for the Novak and Mahal vs. Woods and Dutch match. Before doing the introductions, she asked if we liked last night's joke contest (which got many boos) and told a bad joke (involving hamburgers, the gym, and buns).
AJ Lee did the ring announcing for the Gaspard vs. Allen match.
Kaitlyn did the ring announcing for the Leakee vs. Stevens match. Before doing the introductions, she cut a brief promo to garner support for when voting starts on NXT.
Maxine did the ring announcing for the Brisco vs. Kruger match. Before doing the introductions she cut a promo about how she is the FCW General Manager and thus someone with power around here. She proclaimed that she would win NXT and go on to gain similar power in the WWE.
Naomi did the ring announcing for the Barreta vs. Ryan title match.
Maxine screwed during her show ending promo saying Titus O'Neil's name as a member of both teams (all the while he was standing in the ring with the faces watching her give the promo). She also screwed up when she called Lucky Cannon by his old FCW name of Johnny Prime.
It boggles my mind that Byron Saxton is not on the main roster. Once again he delivered a great promo tonight and while working as Mason Ryan's manger he was constantly moving around ringside and interacting with the fans. There was a group of girls in sitting in front of me cheering for Barreta who Saxton kept jaw jacking with. At one point in the match Saxton jumped in front of the girls, arms stretched, to block their view of the ring when Barreta went for a pin attempt on Ryan. The guy has a great presence and charisma and it is a shame WWE doesn't use managers anymore because he should be on TV every week managing someone right now.
At the last FCW Orlando show Xavier Woods wrestled Shad Gaspard in the opening match. This time he was in a tag match and was able to showcase more of his ability. I hope WWE finds a place for him on the roster soon because he deserves it.
Rudy Parker is ridiculously over with the Orlando crowd. He always gets one of the loudest crowd reactions, with constant "Rudy, Rudy" chants throughout the match. It is a smart thing to put him on early in the shows to rile the crowd up.
The Gaspard vs. Allen match was the only real slow point of the night. It was also a very strange match because all summer long, whenever FCW was in Orlando, Gaspard was a heel and Allen was a face. However, they worked this match with Gaspard seeming like he was the face and Allen as the heel. This could explain why the crowd was not very loud whenever Gaspard would try to get them to cheer for him to break out of a submission or something similar.
Before the Roman Leakee vs. Idol Stevens match, Stevens cuts a promo before claiming that tonight was Roman Leakee's first ever match. He talked about how memorable and important a first match is to a wrestler and how Roman simply got bad luck in having to facing him, "a former, and future, WWE Superstar", tonight for that match.
If this truly was Leakee's first match, then he looked way more skilled than any inexperienced rookie I've ever seen. They also did way more in the ring, and were placed higher on the card, than one would expect for someones very first match. He could be someone to watch out for in the future.
Wes Brisco, like Rudy Parker, has a solid following in Orlando and his matches always generate some of the loudest reactions from the crowd.
I was unsure if Kruger shaking Brisco's hand after the match was meant to be a face turn or not.
Both teams in the tag title match tonight were very fun to watch. The Colossal Connection have quickly become one of my favorite acts in FCW because they have a unique look and are constantly interacting with the crowd to draw them more into the match. Some in the crowd where even cheering for them to win the titles, despite them being the heels.
Trent Barreta got to show more tonight than he does on WWE TV and Mason Ryan just continues to impress me every time I see him. Ryan looks like a Welsh version of Batista and is solid in the ring. Whenever he gets put on Raw or Smackdown he will be a star.
Like Ryan and Brisco, Richie Steamboat continues to impress me the more I see him. At points it felt like I was watching his father in the ring with the fluidity of his movements and (of course) the way he looks.
Michael McGillicutty worked as a cocky heel who felt like he was too good to be here wrestling Steamboat. With this persona he was able to showcase much more personality than he ever has on WWE TV during NXT Season 2.
One thing I noticed tonight while looking up members of the roster after the show was that FCW has a lot of wrestlers with some kind of wrestling heritage:
Brodus Clay (G-Rilla) = Son of Dick Murdoch
Donny Marlow = Son of Haku / Meng
Richie Steamboat = Son of Ricky Steamboat
Roman Leakee = Joe Anoa'i = Son of Sika the Wild Samoan and brother of Rosey
Wes Brisco = Son of Jerry Brisco
Brett DiBiase = Son of Ted DiBiase
Buck Dixon = Son of Mark Canterbury / Henry O. Godwinn
