I get all that, and yes I know what that phone call scene was trying to show.

Okay, I take back random and weird. I think I'm just over Lip acting entitled as fuck.

And the mid-credits scene of V and Svet hearing Kevin planning a fuck schedule made that development fine by me haha. As long as they don't try to turn it serious. I'm really happy they've kept Svetlana and made her appear so often.

I'm very excited for the finale. Also happy with the S7 announcement. I'm still in love with this show, while many other Showtime shows kinda fizzle out far earlier (Weeds, for instance).

Future developments talk: I wonder if Mickey will ever return. I do miss him and kinda hate it if that's his ending.

One episode left for this season. If they kill off Sean I think I'll be angry. I think he is the best thing for Fiona right now.

Ah, I see what you mean. Lip is definitely acting like a stupid brat. He is squandering his potential. I thought it was going to be V wanting Svetlana instead of Kev at first and it kind of bothered me since they are stable couple for such a long stretch in the series but they are making that storyline hilarious.

I feel like Mickey is gone for good though.

On Weeds, it fizzled for me too and then came back in quality on the final season. For me I liked half the series. Seasons 1,2,3,8.

I feel like someone else will be shot and not Sean. And if it is Sean I wouldn't be too shocked since guys who are with Fiona are kind of just rotated out.

They definitely built Sean to stay for the long haul, it would be a shame to lose him.

All of Fiona's relationships before him have been with either total dirtbags (Jimmy, Robbie), who screw with her too bad, or with guys who are too nice (Mike, Gus), who make her feel bored and eventually cheat on them/leave them. Sean is about the right balance of fuck up and good guy, which makes him perfect for her. It also helps that they slowly developed his character traits in a good way in order to make us care about him.

Great episode. It was tough watching Lip self destruct and seeing Ian most likely getting fired after working so hard and doing better.

As a guy that grew up without a father, I can definitely relate to how Lip reacted. I was always searching out that father figure and time after time I got let down and my heart broken in a sense.

It's not the first time Svetlana performs oral on V (or Kev for that matter), so I see it more as an evolution of the relationship between the trio. I like that it's being played up for laughs and that V just came out about it with Kev without trying to hide it. At this point the two characters realize they work better as a couple and that they should just ride this kind of thing.

As long as they keep V just acting horny and don't make her want to trade Kev for Svetlana is all in good fun imo.
I was really worried when they had sex. I hoped it was a dream sequence because I just love Kev and V together. I'm just glad V immediately (sort of) talked to Kev and they're working it out. I like Svetlana and as long as they keep Kev and V together and happy then this threesome stuff is fine. It's nice having some humor in the show.

I'm not a fan of Frank but this is probably the lowest thing he's done. I'll be pissed if Sean ends up hurt or dead. It would be great for Fiona to be able to keep this guy since he's perfect for her.

Glad Debbie is coming around.

I hope Ian doesn't revert back to not taking his meds. It sucks that he lost his new job and career so soon.

As for Lip, I'm so tired of him fucking up situations that have been literally given to him. Yeah he's got daddy issues and I get that but fucking up his education and future is just awful. Ian is trying to overcome a mental disorder and work for his future and Lip is pissing his away.

I love Carl now. He's becoming awesome.

Holy shit those last 20 minutes. Some other show was boring me and I switched to this.... I legit got teary eyed. When I think Frank couldn't be anymore of an asshole he goes and makes it bigger. Fuck you Frank.

I really, really love how they can make you feel such emotions and then they make me laugh at the end hah. Frank definitely deserved that.

This season has just been phenomenal in my opinion. So many emotional scenes and good to great acting from almost everybody.

I also legit said, "oh come on. We are going to get another season of Fiona being single?!"

Gotta wait and watch the first 30 minutes now.

Hope mickey makes it back next season...or even Kash ans Yvonne.

Good season though. All the characters are really branching out into their own stories as they get older.

Fuck Frank.. Like that was just fucking terrible.

At the same time, maybe for the best too, cause Fiona would have found out eventually.
This seasons was phenomenal though, so much better than last season.

What a brutal season closer. I'm glad all this build up for Lip is going some place and the one person he cares for their opinion (Debbie) chimed in and told him flat out she doesn't want to see him become frank. Kev kinda alluded to it in the bar, but Debbie was genuine and warm in a time Lip needed someone to treat him as a person and not just a walking list of problems. Also Ian handled his situation with aplomb. That was a fantastic scene. Debbie will find her way. It'll be interesting to see the time jump next season and where she lands after that. Carl is great, I only hope for the best for him. Kev/V/Svet is the trifecta of people that should be in this poly relationship. Perfectness. I hope that lasts. As for Fiona... Your father is a piece of human garbage but ya dodged that bullet. I can't wish for any other character on television to meet a much deserved death more than Frank, but there he is. He's dodged death too often it's about time it caught up. With Season 7 being the final one, let's see how they wrap this up. Hopefull Lliam will become the astronaut he's destined to become.

Another season of one of the best shows to have ever graced television and the thread is not even in the double digits. What a shame...

When did they announce season 7 would be the final season? I heard it got renewed but not that season 7 would be the final season.

I misspoke, it's rumored to be on its last legs after the rating for this season.

Really great episode. Liked the changes this season.

I love how everyone at the bar was disappointed and upset with Lip for screwing up so bad. A lot of good arcs and developments this season.

Frank was an ass but its probably for the best that Sean's stuff came to light

I'm going to say that Lip never goes into the rehab... he bails.... And frank is a piece of shit.... would have been better for Fiona to figure that out on her own and deal with it... it's not like she didn't know he is a recovering junkie

I think Lip will go to rehab based on the fact that Debbie compares him to Frank and says she doesn't want him to turn out like that. And his father-like figure returns to his life to try and help him out and get him to go. I think he'll do it.

God, Frank is fucked up, but that needed to happen before Fiona got married. I guess she's out of a job now too?

There are so many ways Frank could have done that, even if it needed to be done. How about call them aside instead of airing out everybody's dirty laundry in public.

Fiona knew what she was getting into and she even gave him a brief opportunity at the end. However once Sean said he used it to get the edge off and claimed it didn't really affect you knew it was over; Sean killed it right there.

Which is why I think Lip is going to rehab. It's a contrast with the path Sean (and Frank) is taking. Plus Lip has no other options right? He's expelled, and the prof promised him a job recommendation if he goes through with the program.

Lip breaks my heart. They all do. :(

I don't know, Fiona's happiness turned sour so fast we all got whiplash just from watching it. There's almost no way she doesn't have trust issues after something like that. Her learning about it gradually might have been more manageable.

Possibly. I just figure it would have been harder for her to find out that he has been lying for longer when she finds out on her own. And she would probably not find out by him admitting it but by finding his stash. Or someone else would find it in a tragic way like Will using him. I feel she would have had trust issues after the string of crappy guys she has been with but this probably makes it worse with Sean. He was pretty flawed but honest with her, I think it is just super devastating now because he was no longer honest with her as well.

Either way it was going to be kind of crappy for Fiona though.

Excellent and heartbreaking finale.

I was so happy for Ian, loved the scene where he manages to get the EMT job back. All the arcs this season were good to great in their own ways.

I really dig how they managed to mix Frank being a complete asshole (first time I felt legit anger at his character) and making Fiona dodge a bullet at the same time. There's no justification for what he did and the way he did it, but at the same time Sean lying about using was not ok and would definitely destroy the relationship in the long run.

Fantastic season.

That was a great season. I did feel the last episode was a little rushed at the end. They could have cut a few superfluous scenes early in the episode and focused more around the church drama.

I wonder how much of the ending was affected by the idea that they might not be able to get the actor who plays Sean back next season. Because I really don't think they needed to kill the entire relationship in those last two minutes. Fiona knew he was an addict. He was always truthful about that. He had even fallen off the wagon once before and they managed to get past that. Besides, substance abuse and alcoholism is a running theme among the Gallaghers too. Him admitting that he had been using for months and that his son came first is what instantly finished everything, and I don't know if the story needed to be like that. All through the last couple of years Sean has been a good influence on Fiona. Much better than Jimmy ever was. It's a shame there's no way back for him now.

And yea, I'll echo my disappointment that this thread only reached 5 pages. I'm partially responsible for that too because I didn't post here either, but I really wonder what it will take for people to watch Shameless. There have been several episodes over the years where I was sure someone or the other was giving an award winning performance and yet that has never happened. Is it because the show is not funny enough to be a comedy and not dramatic enough to be a drama? Is it because it's not high brow enough? Because I really can't understand why a show that blends highs and lows the way this one does is so ignored by critics and audiences alike.

Touching on your last point about why we don't get alot of traffic in here.... It doesn't help that it's on at the same time TWD is also on. One drama to the next can drain some people. The subjects Shameless touch upon also plays a factor. Not many casual fans can relate to or understand the themes and struggles that Shameless brings onto their show. It might also be that people just have shitty enough lives and don't want to watch a show to remind them how shitty their lives are.

I also think that what you did say, not high brow enough, is a factor. If it plays so heavily on alcoholism, or addiction in general, why can't they dive deeper into it instead of switching to a funny scene, etc.?

I really feel bad for Lip.... Besides having sex with beautiful women, I can totally relate to him. Having no father figure or a lack of a father figure plays a huge role in a boys life into his 20s. I really hope he doesn't follow Frank's steps and go into rehab.

I really want Fiona to become the mother hen again. Find a steady job and start taking care of your siblings again. Worry about your dating life when you can but after getting burnt so much, I think it's time she starts taking better care of herself again.

I hope Sean's actor is back for next season in some form. Everything sounded pretty final in the episode, but he was developed so well that I can't see them putting Fiona in another relationship with a new character without it feeling like a rehash or another totally destructive one, but I don't want her to end up alone either at this point. His character really feels perfect for hers, warts and all. Anyway, I trust the writers to come up with more engaging material on that front, be it with him on board or not.

And yeah, I'm used to it by now but this show is super underrated. I hope people keep finding it in the future even after it's over.

Well for me it's I want to see the characters take a win every now and then. With Shameless the main characters are forever taking L's and that can get ao draining to watch.

The Wire didn't even take off until the show ended so that might could happen with Shameless.

I misspoke, it's rumored to be on its last legs after the rating for this season.

What? It's their highest rated and I think best reviewed series. It also goes up against The Walking Dead, which means a lot of its audience probably isn't watching it live. I know I don't, I record it and watch it after TWD.

All in all, I really liked this season. Ian and Lip have basically switched places from where they were at the start of the season. Fiona... really needs to learn to be on her own for a while, kinda sad to see Sean go though. Debbie's story is the only one I didn't really like. I get that she was mad at Fiona, but damn girl, let it go. I thought for sure something was going to happen to the baby in the last episode. and Frank... I'm glad they didn't follow through with the Frank killing Sean thing. There would've been no coming back from that and the character would've been irredeemable.

I do agree that the ending felt a bit rushed. It feels like there should still be one more episode.

The characters do find moments of happiness. Like Ian ended the season with a good job and relationship. The problem is that the writers can't give them too much happiness for too long. If they end up leading stable and well adjusted lives then there's no drama and no show.

On thinking further, I'm most disappointed with how Fiona's story has been completely reset. She's going to start next season single and probably unemployed. So now you're going to go through the same story beats we've seen at least twice before. I kind of wish the show would introduce some permanent or at least long lasting changes. Debbie's baby is a permanent change. The marriage could have been one. Or maybe a death. Something that actually changes the show and then see how the characters react and deal with it.

In short, I'd like the show to look forwards instead of backwards.

The Shameless characters are all still alive. That's a big W imo

I don't think Sean will fire her, but they'll either write his character out and Fiona gets a new manager or she's out looking for a job again, I guess.

Sean is probably going to lose his kid, and his job. There will be a new manager, and it'll be jimmy steve, just because.

Really great finale. Frank is such a fucking dick. I didn't like Debbie's arc this season. I sort of only half paid attention to Ian except that I loved him in the finale, standing up for himself instead of going back to the old Ian. Felt like he turned a page. Hopefully Lip does as well.

Lots of new stories for these Gallaghers next season.

And of course the unbridled hilarity of Kevin and V (and Svetlana) to remind us all that hey, life isn't always serious. Sometimes it's crazy and fun.
