Shane McMahon returns to the WWE

Guys, that Ticketmaster listing has been that way since December. Are we really thinking WWE has had some grand story with Shane planned out for that long?

Hopefully he gets someone to wrestle for him. The idea of a full Shave vs Taker match is hilariously bad.

He's gonna team up with the Undertaker and together they will take WWE from Vince' hands. Watch Taker lay down in the ring and let Shane pin him and then all hell breaks lose.

Wow--that WWE vs. RAW event thing is huge.

So, "
Invasion
Part 2." Because it worked out so well the first time.

It was cool until Stephanie brought it down. Then again, she's been doing that for close to two decades now.

Man, there's a lot of marking out happening in this thread, isn't there? I'm not buying any of this. Not buying a brand split. Not buying an invasion redux. Not buying a return to the Attitude era (despite last night's F-bombs and blood capsules). Not buying any bold changes post-Mania (i.e. commentary being any better than garbage).

I am buying the idea that Shane could win the match while secretly being aligned with Triple H and Steph to get Vince off TV again because Vince likes to be written off TV in grand fashion; not that it ever matters because he won't leave gorilla and his TV persona is pretty much the one thing he still excels at.

Both the guy who found that and posted it on Reddit and people in the comments of that post have said it has been that way for a while. The guy who posted it says he thought it was a typo when he saw it in December. Of course that guy could be lying, but he's the one who posted it, so why lie?

December was 2 months ago lol

NO ONE COULD HAVE FORESEEN THIS

Considering that was prior to Cena being hurt and Undertaker having to find a new opponent, and the fact that the Shane deal was made a few weeks ago, the idea that they knew this would happen in December seems extremely unlikely.

I wasn't aware that the Shane deal happened that recently but the idea that 8 weeks is too far to start planning a potentially huge angle seems kinda crazy. The match itself could have been more recent if that's the case

Modern main-roster WWE lives by the idea of booking everything on the fly and rewriting shit at the last minute. Hell, one of the biggest angles they've done the past few years was the breakup of the SHIELD, which had months and months of fallout, and that was based on a decision made the afternoon before Raw where they just decided "why don't we breakup the SHIELD?"

Not gonna lie, I fucking bolted to the TV when I heard his theme and I havent watched 20 minutes of RAW straight for over a year.

Well done Shane-O-Mac and well done WWE. Him talking about the viewership numbers and injured wrestlers hit home like a Mack Truck.

Bling bling.

ffs why am i mad that Stephanie McMahon is following him..

i know we are way past the times of kayfabe but ffs at least keep part of the illusion.

EDIT: and now i'm mad at myself for even giving a shit lol

Keep your friends close and your enemies closer.

To be fair the glass was supposed to break, don't worry though, they got it right immediately after.

It wasn't supposed to break at all, that was not a planned part of the match. They made their way up there and Shane suddenly said "throw me through that glass." It took more than one suplex because the glass wasn't breakaway glass and Angle didn't throw him hard enough to break it the first time.

I would bet that they've had this Shane thing planned out for as long as they were airing those Vincent K McMahon award promos.

So a week.

To be fair unless someone is harassing you, there is no need to no follow your brother/someone important in your company (Kayfabe)

Will be way different if she said "I'm so glad to see my brother back"

Didn't they just start
making a larger effort to put invasion era episodes of Raw on the network, too?

With all the new arrivals they have lined up for NXT, its not hard to see where they could get the talent for a new "Invasion" angle.

Actually I guess a "Civil War" angle, because I suspect the best way to mount it in a post kayfabe-era is not to worry about who's the heel and who's the babyface faction.

For example in main-roster product HHH is a solid heel as always, whereas from the NXT angle he's Paul Levesque the mastermind of the hottest new brand in wrestling for years.

Its kind of messed up with HHH and Steph being married, as really if you looked at it in pure storytelling terms, Steph is the natural successor to Evil Vince. Whereas if you were to try and fold-in NXT talents, HHH would be more of a tweener.

Its frustrating really, they have so much talent and opportunity at their disposal, and yet they've never really gotten to grips with how to package the promotion post-kayfabe. The fundamental issue being that its no longer possible for them to pick a new "top guy" without blow-back from fans who feel like their favourites are being overlooked.

As Jim Cornette noted, traditionally the promotion is always babyface as they needed to be seen as serving the audience's interests. Whereas in main-product WWE the promotion is always "heel", which involves a convoluted double-game of antagonizing the audience in product, whilst trying to keep the product popular somehow with the same fans.
