Sin and Punishment 2 officially announced on Wii

Par for the course.

Wasn't Sin and Punishment the lowest selling game Nintendo has ever published?

As long as the game is good I'll be there day one.

Well the first game never had a chance due to being release after the PS2 was already out in Japan. I was hoping that Nintendo might throw a little more PR behind this one. Although it seems like this game was made more because of the Western sales of the original on VC than any type of demand for a sequel in Japan.

Since this was bumped, for the ones who don't go to the Japanese boxart thread:

Even though it has already been said, that is some great looking boxart. Hopefully the US boxart is similar.

EVER indeed. So awesome.

Hopefully NOA won't fuck up the boxart. Wait, who I am kidding? Of course they will. :lol

So the official name is Sin and Punishment: Succesor to the Sky?

That sounds a lot better than a tacky 2.

Judging the by the name, the last boss will probably be an entire galaxy or something...

"Successor to the Sky"?
It makes sense. The first game was subtitled "Successor to Earth."

I'm happy the game is getting released so soon but I get the feeling that it's going to totally bomb sales wise. :(
I don't think the audience is there on the Wii. I would be surprised if it sold more than 250K in it's first month in the US. Add to the fact that most people don't know anything about the series and NOA doesn't seem to be promoting it a whole lot. They rarely mention it when talking about upcoming releases.

Wow that looks amazing. Too bad NoA is gonna fuck it up when it releases over here (yellow/orange bars, different art, etc).

For comparison with another Treasure game, Gradius V sold 12,296 in its opening month in the US. That's from a well established classic series, on the PS2, and at a msrp of $30.

Speaking of which...wheres my Gradius VI?

250K? They'll be extremely lucky if it sells 50K here, in its first month.
Totally looking forward to this, and that boxart is pretty damn sick.

By the by, does anyone have any clue at all how much the VC re-release sold?

If the numbers on Nintendo Channel are anything to go off of, about 38,000 copies. Of course, that actually relies on the people that have downloaded and sent data with it.

Which region is that? US?

I don't know, NOA seems to be pretty good about keeping box art, from my memory at least

75K would be quite a bit more than I'd have expected.
I wonder what the WW numbers look like.

Of course NOA will fuck up the boxart... have we not already seen the logo design present at E3???

NOE I hold out a better hope for...

What's the best-selling Treasure game? Ikaruga by virtue of the re-releases? Gunstar Heroes? By how much?
It's been so long since I've actually seen sales data for their games that I can't say for sure.

I'm willing to bet that Wario World is either at the top or close to it. Last I heard, Mischief Makers was their best-selling game for an original property (not counting digital downloads I suppose), mostly by virtue of being released in a major drought period for N64 games.

Roughly 50,000 copies of Radiant Silvergun exist. Roughly 50,000 copies of Ikaruga exist for Dreamcast, and the international Gamecube port ups that number by a considerable amount.

Sin & Punishment 1 topped the charts in its first week and then completely vanished from the charts by its second.

Also, to whoever asked about this earlier: the main staff for S&P 1 were Hideyuki Suganami (director and boss programmer, formerly of Treasure and now a recurring freelancer), Atsutomo Nakagawa (main programmer, still with Treasure), and Yasushi Suzuki (object and character design, formerly Treasure staff and now freelance). I'm willing to bet all 3 of these guys are back for S&P2. Suzuki definitely is; there's no mistaking his art. There were a few Nintendo R&D 1 programmers who worked on S&P1, so it's completely fair to call the game a collaboration between Treasure and Nintendo. Wario World was also a collaboration with Nintendo R&D 1.

That cover art is pure sex, and i played the game 5 times at E3...
I cannot pass, i'll buy the japanese version as soon as it comes out.
Cannot fucking wait, this is totally my GOTY! :Q___ _ _

Holy shit that boxart is awesome. :bow Suzuki :bow

Also, do want rabidly. I hope all these games promised for Q1 2010 actually stick it out and get released then. It'd be sad if we had to wait through more droughts to get it after that point.
