Sleeping Dogs PC Performance Thread

I just turned everything to max@1920x1080 and the game seems to run fine on a 4870. Admittedly I'm only a couple hours in and didn't bother running a benchmark. ;) Phenom II X4 965, FWIW.

Still getting those HKShip.exe crashes. Unbelievable. I just cannot play this game.

Thinking of uninstalling and just watching the rest on YouTube, which I never do. What a shame.

I am getting them too, hope they find the cause and patch it. Still trucking on despite the annoyance.

JESUS FUCKING CHRIST. been trying to do this side mission THREE times and it keeps crashing in the middle of it. HKShip.exe crash errors again. I've had enough for tonight. was enjoying it so much and it keeps crashing on me. i think i'll lower the settings tomorrow and see if there's a difference. i am sooo fucking close to just buying the console version so i can finish this game even if the console versions are uglier.

How's the game running with a 6870? I can handle most games maybe some setting need SAOO (I think that's what it is) can sometimes mess with my framerate.

Read only, yes. Still the HiRest textures shows "off" in the options menu besides I set it to 1!

Could be because it's not installed correctly, other people had that problem. Try verifying the game's cache.

Also, you did install it right? It's not included per default afaik.

Intel i7-2600k @ 4.8ghz
GeForce GTX 590
16gb DDR3

With all settings cranked to max I got average 40fps in the benchmark, and 60 if I turned Ambient Occlusion to Medium.

The first game I've played so far to get less than 60fps on maximum settings, but it looks fucking incredible.

I verified it several times. It shows under "DLC" for Sleeping Dogs, not much I can do there to reinstall it or whatever.

But did you click install on the separate entry on the Steam store for the high-res pack? I had to do that first despite showing up before I could verify and it started downloading the pack.

Whats your core @ 4.8? Im 1.26 @ 4.5

Even if I do it doesn't change a thing. It's just not working, it's broken. I reinstalled the whole game already.

I had the same problem...think I had to make sure it was on Custom first, go to Advanced, change whatever, save..then don't save when it asks the second time - but I see you've tried that. Very finicky thing.

Are you keeping the game up to date? They stated in the patch notes that this was fixed.

I was having the exact same issue and the patch fixed it for me.

Game is running fine for me, but despite what the benchmark says, i'm getting quite a bit of stuttering ingame, when i simply walk around or pan the camera.
I'm installing the 305.67 drivers now (i had the .53) to see if it works better.

Known bug right? I went to slam a thug into the hood of a car. Accidentally threw him and the move vaulted me several dozen feet into the air. I died from the fall. I'm getting superpowers.

I had this problem with another Square Enix D11 game(Deus Ex HR) and I resolved my crashing issues by turning up the voltage on my card. I've read the voltage can be too low on stock when dealing with D11 features.

i may do this or just lower the settings. i feel like my GPU might be overheating from it. sucks since my PC is well above the recommended requirements.

The enjoyment factor with this game keeps getting better and better, although the only thing that bugs me is the driving as it has a very arcade feel to it and riding on the motorcycles has some weird wobble effect as your riding... but each to there own I guess.

As for Benchmarks.. I'm still stuck with my relic that is a 8800 GTS (640MB) but with a little overclock the game works flawlessly although it is the bare minimum in terms of Graphics cards to run this game its well optimized for the PC.

As long as your not wanting the game playing with full AA and cranking up the shadows and resolution as I have everything more or less turned down and its very very playable with very little to no stuttering and crashs.

UPDATE: Much much better with the new drivers.
Still a few hiccups here and there, but in general it flows like a charm.
Is there a way to deactivate the shitty shaky cam when speeding? It's so annoying.

When sprinting or fighting it looks like the character animations are happening at twice the speed they should. Is that normal? I've set my refresh rate and framerate limiter to 75.

Haha. So I can play sleeping dogs if I turn vsync off and limit the frames to 60fps, turn it to my resolution and then it caps the frames at 120. What a joke.

How does my friend have my resolution (1280x768 60hz) and with the exact same game, and I only have the resolution option with 170hz? What the fuck. Plus It's one of the only games I can hear my fan on my gpu kick up

Gtx580, latest drivers, etc etc

I noticed the same thing on my system. Haven't seen anyone else mention this so I'm not sure if it's intended.

Thinking about moving Sleeping Dogs over to my SSD (it's installed on my HDD at the moment). Is the performance greatly improved on an SSD? I hope so because I'd have to uninstall a couple of games since drive space is limited.

Sounds like alot of the problems might be because video cards are overheating or unable to handle the graphics load. Maybe try bumping the voltage or turning down the clocks a bit?

Well...my game runs with stable 60FPS even when driving around. Though as soon as I'm driving Fraps shows 60 but it looks and feels like 27. What's wrong with that?
