Small changes you'd like to see in Destiny

  • A firing range in the tower.
  • more character customization
  • more character slots
  • lock item and a buyback system so you dont sell the wrong stuff
  • keyboard chat system
 
Just make things a bit clearer in PvP. Like when I get shot at I want to know exactly where it's from straight away instead of the red marker being really confusing.

Also make it more obvious when I'm walking through a friendly vortex grenade and an enemy one. Right now there's not a huge difference between the two and it leads to stupid deaths

I'd also like to see the movement system become more fluid like Titanfall (minus wall running). Right now the movement feels a little sluggish or held back
 
I can't believe people think you have to pull up the Ghost to see Waypoints still.

There is a white arrow on your radar that points to the directon you need to go.

Make story missions continous. No need to go to orbit after every match.
Buff pulse rifles.
Add in game chat to fireteams and multiplayer.

That's my main one. Annoying to have to keep clicking the touch pad. Make it a one click on/off toggle and keep the marker up if clicked on
 
edit: may as well include small bugs in this list

  • Beards, and in general more customization options in the beginning of the game.
  • The pointing emote should have a greater purpose. Let players point to weak points on the bosses so players know what to shoot at.
  • Auto Rifles need a nerf. They're ridiculously accurate and powerful.
  • More in-depth post-game carnage, like medals, MVP and tools of destruction.
  • More predictable and rewarding loot drops.
  • Pulse Rifles and Hand Cannons are a bit underpowered, at least relative to the Scout and Auto rifles.
  • Titan and Warlock supers are basically unavoidable and undetectable insta-kills. Either increase the window where they can be killed, or make it more obvious when they have a super. Also, not sure if it's an upgrade or latency, but I don't think they should live through rockets just because they activated their super: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CSyGK3fcVRw.
  • Interceptor could use some rebalancing. Maybe a charge time on the rockets or a red light to let the pilot and opponent know which rocket is about to fire.
  • Shores of Time has really predictable spawns. I've gotten several spawn kills at A just by looking down the door with a Sniper.
  • Orbs of Light could also be scaled down, or even removed to make Supers less frequent. A team of Warlocks Nova Bomb what seems like twice a minute.
  • Hit detection is wonky. People will die a full second after you've melee'd or sniped them in the face: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FIkzXlB6Gbo
  • Sometimes the audio will cut out and I wont hear half of the sound effects, including fire from the enemies. This happens on Shores of Time more than the other maps.
  • First Light needs less weighting, especially in the Iron Banner Tournament. Feels like it shows up every other game and sticks around for several matches. I like the map, but I don't want to play on it every single time. I think Crucible needs a menu where players select their preferred maps, and that increases their weighting for the person or fireteam.
  • If the same map shows up twice, it should be at a different time of day.
  • Quicker load times.
  • Open the options menu while the match is loading. Don't know why this was removed from the alpha.
  • If you're in the tower, it seems weird that you have to go back into orbit to join another player who is also in the tower. It's also kinda lame that you can't invite a person to your fireteam if you're at the tower and there are already too many people there. Probably unlikely to change for network reasons, so it should be made more apparent that you can't join a full Tower.
  • Aim assist could be toned down.
  • Have loot show up on radar since it's hard to see (especially after Sepiks)
  • Blind Watch needs serious rebalancing. Either switch the positions of B or C, or remove it from the Control gametype. The team that has A spawn usually loses.
  • Would like an in-game clock to notify me when events are about to start and when they end.
  • Character rotation in all character menus.
  • Would have liked to see an emblem creator instead of preset ones. Feel like there is some good real estate on Ships and Sparrows for players to place decals on.
  • An option to skip the opening tutorial after you've made one character (or at least the cutscenes).
  • A vendor in the tower who offers different emotes like dancing and changes your hair style.
  • Touchpad support for the menus.
  • In-game clan list.

I agree with most of this. I think for maps that have the interceptor they either have what you mention or that map needs heavy ammo to spawn at the start. For the post game carnage i wanna see DEATHS. Why must they hide this? Also if i want to inspect someone at the post game screen and they leave i cant. Auto rifle needs the biggest nerf. If everyone is using that weapon which it sure feels like it then its too good.
 
World Map, and a better ability for the Hunters. Hunting Knives are fine but since it's a speed/agility focused class, I'm bummed that Hunters don't have a super boost or a dodge roll.
 
Get rid of the main menu ("Orbit")

Yeah, one small quibble I had with the beta was the fact that you couldn't just go on to the next mission on the fly, you would have to go into orbit, hit a loading screen, then fly back to same planet you were just on, hitting yet another loading screen.

Idk, I just feel like there could be a more streamlined way of doling out the story missions.
 
Ive played over 20 hours of the beta. I loved it much more than I expected. If the rest of the game follows the same level of polish, I'd be pretty happy with my purchase.

With that said, I do think there are areas that could be improved:

PVE:
- Explore mode could have waypoints or fast travel. I made it to the devil walker (prior to having played the strike) and ran into a dead end. I had to go to orbit and re-enter the explore zone to minimize backtracking.

- The devil walker in the strike takes too long to kill even with a coordinated team given how the whole battle is a rinse and repeat action. Cut out one of it's "shoot leg until core is revealed" cycles or give it a second gameplay hook to keep us engaged.

- Take action to reduce impact of leavers on strikes. Either allow people to join a game in progress, scale enemies down, or give some sort of boost to the players that remain. Having played the second half of a strike with just 2 people I can tell you it wasn't worth sticking around for.

PVP:
- Explain how loot drops work. I played probably 30+ matches and only received a drop 1 time (white gloves). If it's purely random, change that to something you can actually work towards.

- Put some logic in the map selection that weights maps based on what people played recently. I played Venus, Moon and Mars... But I've read about an Earth map, Was that in the rotation?!

- Interceptors shouldn't be harder to counter than they are to use. I think lowering their mobility or rotation speed would go a long way. Changing the spawns from the exterior of the map to the interior would also mitigate this issue.
 
I just want a shortcut to the sparrow.. swipe up? or something

i want the fan buttons in the tower to do more than that.

i want someone to tell me where the 4th dead ghost is in the tower.

why use a cursor in menus? its weird.
 
All they have to do is add these features for GOTY:

- Open world pvp
- Hunger status effect
- Canned sardines
- Can opener

Haha. Also, no radar and rare ammo. Hardcore pvp explore mode would be interesting. Maybe make it a short public event like the Iron Banner thing was.
 
  • Let us make a dedicated PvE and PvP gear build that we can readily switch between because it's obvious we're going to need separate ones unless they fully standardize PvP weapons
  • Wider FOV or adjustable FOV
  • Let us move/customize/hide UI elements, especially the radar location
  • Plastic surgeon to change appearance for some sort of Glimmer fee
  • Much clearer hit indicators than the current 3D arrows-- they are very awkward and make it hard to tell where shots are coming from. See BF4 for example. 2D sprites would be fine.
  • Clearer/brighter light columns to indicate ammo/loot drops on the ground-- currently they clip into bodies and terrain making them impossible to see (Devil Walker fight for example)
  • Add a compass to the radar (unless I'm missing something there's no way to tell what direction you're oriented in)
  • Cortana voice Ghost DLC cuz why not
 
ok so obviously the game could use a lot of work

But how much more dev time does Bungie really have at this point? The alpha and beta tests have been so close to launch. They can't have more than what, 3-4 weeks tops to work on it? Day one patching only adds another week or two.

But in AAA game dev time this is just enough to fix some bugs, not add any kind of significant content. Unfortunately the stuff we're asking for is expansion pack or sequel material.
 
Wow I am SO glad I read this thread! I agree with a lot of the changes said already, so I'll add a small one as well.

A "firing range" in the tower, so you can try out new guns you've acquired without having to equip them for a mission.

EDIT: Beaten at the top of the page...

More class-specific weapons would be neat.

Anyway,I would like to see the loading screen be more dynamic. I don't care if it's canned cutscenes at the moment, but at least make the loading feel seamless. Right now, the ships just float around while the game loads up your location.

Instead of that boring ship lingering around scenes, give us a visual of your ship actually entering the atmosphere, circling around your drop zone before jumping us into gameplay.
 
- Fusion rifles should never come with precision rifle sights installed. I can't count the number of times I expected the fusion rifle I was aiming with while hopping off my sparrow to be capable of firing the second I pull the trigger, because it had the same sight as my other rifles. You need to be able to tell what type of gun you're using while aiming down sights.
- The menu interface background should be semi-transparent. Changing equipment or using consumables shouldn't feel like putting on a blindfold.
- Give players who are going through their menus a custom idle animation. Right now they just look AFK, and the dots in the level box aren't a good enough "busy" status indicator.
- Bring back "that wizard came from the moon". Don't be ashamed of how dumb your game's world is. #foodnipple
 
Quick question:

How do you exit to the title screen? I searched in vain and had to close the game completely and reopen it. Kind of a bummer if you just wanna switch characters. 'Options' button doesn't do it. I couldn't find an option anywhere else either.
 
-Facial Hair
-More customization options (more faces, hair styles, etc. Separate colours for hair and eyebrows)
-More voice options (I want a Female voice for all the menus, PvP, and Ghost)
-Option to change your character's appearance any time in the game
-Shorter Golden Gun animation (or invisibility during the animation; just something more balanced)
-Hijack vehicles
-Faster Loading
-Travel without going to Orbit
-Melee/Grenade cooldown notifications

And pretty much everything that has already been mentioned.
 
Click touchpad then swipe for quick spawning of the Sparrow or to quickly go into orbit.Click first because I don't want to accidentally swipe it and do things I didn't want to do.

The ability to turn off auto-aim. Also, the deadzone is pretty bad in this game, there's about a centimeter give when aiming. That might just be my DS4 but I don't notice that with any other games.

Also, custom controls. I want to use the jumper controls but having the specials be on X is pretty dumb. Allow me to map certain controls to need two buttons to be used, so specials can only be used when pressing square and X at the same time or whatever other combinations there are.

For instance, place some red beacons at the start points for the various story and strike missions and let me hop into them organically instead of backing out and having to use a menu. This, in addition to a world map and better waypoint system would make the Story progression feel more fluid.

When I finish a story mission, I'd like it to give me an option to go to orbit or stay on the planet in free roam mode. If the story doesn't require me to make a pit stop at the Tower then a waypoint should appear showing me the way to the next story mission, allowing me to make my way there on foot/Sparrow.

I see some others on here expressing similar ideas.

This is a good idea. Would be nice if we could start a story mission while in explore mode. Same for Strikes if we already have a fireteam.
 
Some Alien blood plz. Why is there no blood at all?

would make the gun play a lot more satisfying

I think the way they handle headshots makes the lack of blood easy to cope with. Getting the light shaft on Fallen or watching Hive disintegrate instantly is quite satisfying.

Log out from the settings tab in the Options menu, which will take you to the title screen where you can switch to a different character.
 
I have two:

1. Make it so that I can toggle off my helmet. I made a really cool robot head, I want to be able to see it in-game more.

2. Titan super jump: make it so that I have to press and hold X to do the lift. When I let go of the X button, I should drop immediately. It will make the Titan more manageable when jumping. (I have jumped towards low corridors so many times and just hovered above the entrance. Pretty annoying when you are in PvP.)
 
In PvP, make the radar only show an enemy when he/she fires a weapon.

They specifically made the radar the way it is to reduce camping and facilitate movement. Considering the already ridiculous number of one shot shotgun deaths in a game, it's probably for the best.
 
Please, Bungie, if you're reading this, include more character customization like facial hair. It's kind of insane that there are no facial hair options.

I actually tweeted them about it but I don't know how effective that is. @Playstation replies to me all the time but never @Bungie or @BungieHelp. It's like it's just for show or something and doesnt actually have anyone running it.
 
One small change I would like to see is the release date being moved ahead by a month.
