Small changes you'd like to see in Destiny

This thread is meant as a simple way to convey what us future Destiny owners would like to see altered to make the game more enjoyable for everyone.

The key is to keep things simple, so don't ask for something extravagant like a redesigned graphics engine for example. I think bullet point form would be best, so I'll start:

  • Toggle announcer voice off for PvP
  • Let us choose which gestures the D-pad buttons correspond to
  • Add exit to tower option directly from Ghost (hold O as example)

  • Audio cues to when an ability (Grenade, melee) has finished its cooldown
  • A better indicator to who has a super, rather than just outlining names. Perhaps give Guardians a slight aura about them. Not as much as Hunters when their supe is activated, but enough to be recognizable at a glance.
  • Slight grenade radius boost and pulse damage. Been finding them rather useless outside of AOD when holding a point.
  • Not a small change necessarily, but move that B point elsewhere on the Mars map. Too easy for teams to simultaneously hold B & C with A spawners at a disadvantage.

And moustaches for those mainstream audiences.

a big list for small changes. includes bugs.

  • Beards, and in general more customization options in the beginning of the game.
  • The pointing emote should have a greater purpose. Let players point to weak points on the bosses so players know what to shoot at.
  • Auto Rifles need a nerf. They're ridiculously accurate and powerful.
  • More in-depth post-game carnage, like medals, MVP and tools of destruction.
  • More consistent and rewarding loot drops. Loot is supposed to be "what you need", but I keep earning common gear that I instantly dismantle.
  • Pulse Rifles and Hand Cannons are a bit underpowered, at least relative to the Scout and Auto rifles.
  • If i back out of the Crucible post-game, i dont want to have to reselect Crucible again.
  • Titan and Warlock supers are basically unavoidable and undetectable insta-kills. Either increase the window where they can be killed, or make it more obvious when they have a super. Also, not sure if it's an upgrade or latency, but I don't think they should live through rockets just because they activated their super: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CSyGK3fcVRw.
  • Interceptor could use some rebalancing. Maybe a charge time on the rockets, a reload after two shots, or a red light to let the pilot and opponent know which rocket is about to fire.
  • Shores of Time has really predictable spawns. I've gotten several spawn kills at A just by looking down the door with a Sniper.
  • In PvP, Orbs of Light could be scaled down, or even removed to make Supers less frequent. A team of Warlocks Nova Bomb what seems like twice a minute.
  • Hit detection is wonky. People will die a full second after you've melee'd or sniped them in the face: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FIkzXlB6Gbo
  • Sometimes the audio will cut out and I wont hear half of the sound effects, including fire from the enemies. This happens on Shores of Time more than the other maps.
  • First Light needs less weighting, especially in the Iron Banner Tournament. Feels like it shows up every other game and sticks around for several matches. I like the map, but I don't want to play on it every single time. I think Crucible needs a menu where players select their preferred maps, and that increases their weighting for the person or fireteam.
  • If the same map shows up twice, it should be at a different time of day.
  • Quicker load times. Includes loading items and backing out of menus. Takes too long to leave the post-game board.
  • Faster cursor speed
  • Hold to buy things so you dont accidentally waste your marks.
  • Open the options menu while the match is loading. Don't know why this was removed from the alpha.
  • If you're in the tower, it seems weird that you have to go back into orbit to join another player who is also in the tower. It's also kinda lame that you can't invite a person to your fireteam if you're at the tower and there are already too many people there. Probably unlikely to change for network reasons, so it should be made more apparent that you can't join a full Tower.
  • Random enemy patrols in Explore mode, like a step down from Public Events. More of the Pikesand Fallen vs Hive stuff.
  • Less aim assist, bullet magnetism, and aim acceleration.
  • Have loot show up on radar since it's hard to see (especially after Sepiks)
  • Blind Watch needs serious rebalancing. Either switch the positions of B or C, or remove it from the Control gametype. The team that has A spawn usually loses.
  • Would like an in-game clock to notify me when events are about to start and when they end.
  • Character rotation in all character menus.
  • Would have liked to see an emblem creator instead of preset ones. Feel like there is some good real estate on Ships and Sparrows for players to place decals on.
  • An option to skip the opening tutorial after you've made one character (or at least the cutscenes).
  • A vendor in the tower who offers different dancing emotes and changes your hair style.
  • Touchpad support for the menus.
  • In-game clan list.
  • Please don't split fireteams in crucible.
  • Move the PS4 notification to the right side of the screen. It blocks the motion tracker for 5 seconds when it pops up.

Better rifle sounds - most of the rifles don't sound very good. The exception to this is the old busted rifle when you start the game.

remove all PvP and incorporate that content into single player / coop mode.

Or just nerf the vehicles a lot

You really nailed my annoyances with the game.

Different voices to choose from in character creation, like the Saint's Row games.

And sound options where I can adjust the volume of BGM, sound effects, and voices.

Being able to kill people while they do single player, like dark souls
That would keep me from purchasing the game. Not even kidding. My minuscule interest in Destiny depends on whether I'll be able to enjoy the game solo the same way I did with every Halo game. I couldn't give two honks about the social aspect.

I've said it before, but I'd like an in-game map/minimap. Preferably one that gets revealed as you explore, MMO-style, just to keep things interesting as you explore an area for the first time.

- Map available to look at when you're actually exploring the world
- level cap higher than 20 (speculation based on everything being that level)
- Hunter grenades getting buffed since they do little damage compared to the others

  • Super Meter on your Fireteam members' nameplates.
  • Beards!
  • Audio cues for grenades and supers
  • Add a Space Map to the hangar area in the Tower which you can launch directly from.
  • Let teammates have their own cursors and ping the space map. Only the leader can set and launch to destinations, but let teammates point things out and look around.

Allow the player to use the Ghost for communication back to the Tower to turn in/accept new quests.

-Golden Gun should not be a one hit kill if it hits below the waist in pvp.
-The game should do a better job (than the alpha/beta) at explaining how certain game mechanics work. Like orbs of light, sharing heavy ammo by standing close by, etc.
-Option to quickly join a fire team and party up with randoms after a pvp match.

The red indicator that "tells" you where enemy fire is coming from is a complete mess. I don't know how to parse it. Change this plz.

I find grenades to be useless. They take too long to recharge and aren't very useful.

Being able to kill people while they do single player, like dark souls

Hell no. That would ruin the entire dynamic of the game.

  • I would like Bungie to make events more frequent when there are a high density of players. It's fun when there are around 8 players around you and there's a random boss fight. Make them really challenging too.
  • More character customizations.
  • More social opportunities like the Tower. I like showing my character off as do others Maybe the city will open up in the retail version?

Less ugly humans. It's no wonder everyone is making the other two races.

Most of my complaints have been said. As for others, shrink the range of both the Warlock and Titan supers, and make it possible to kill/stop their supers during the animation. You can kill a hunter while they go super, others should be the same. Vechiles in PvP are also annoying to take down, but its probably one of those things that get easier as you level up. Nerfing it is cool though. Grenades should be buffed, a grenade aimed properly should be able to severely damage a vechile.

I would like to see them add the ability to look at your objective without having to watch the animation of Ghost coming out every single time.

Also maybe some invasion angle where somebody or somebody can invade your SP game and than you can have a fight right there (as long as it warns you).

More pronounced loot chests, they are a little to easy to miss and I feel like I miss a lot of them.

That doesn't indicate fire, it's a motion sensor. If an enemy is moving, the indicator will show you which direction they are in and how far away (the darker the red, the closer they are). If you crouch/crouch walk you don't appear on the indicator.

Yeah I'm hoping there is a gametype that removes proximity indicator all together.

I like the radar though. Once I understood it and began to really pay attention to it I started doing much better in The Crucible. :P

No, I'm talking about a red "arrow " that appears in the middle of the screen when you're receiving fire.

Wait. I thought if you grabbed Heavy, it also spawned a clip for everyone on your team in their private loot stream where the chest was? I've seen a clip waiting for me after the chest was popped before.

You have to stand close?

Ability to hijack a vehicle like Halo.

Not really a small change, but nothing major either... vehicles don't need to be nerfed, stop trying to go one on one with them, a turret will own all vehicles.

  • Not a small change necessarily, but move that B point elsewhere on the Mars map. Too easy for teams to simultaneously hold B & C with A spawners at a disadvantage.

Point B is hilariously broken. On Mars the first thing I do is sprint toward B with a shotgun, cap it, and camp like the coward I am. I'll usually get my super up within about 90 seconds to 2 minutes and if I get killed while on B I'll usually spawn at C and I can Titan Smash those 2 or 3 poor souls who are either neutralizing or capping B.

Personally, I love it, but it's broken.

  • Minor reworking of the loot rewarding system in PvP. Percent chance of each tier of player getting loot based on performance. Top 3 about 60%, and go down 10% from each player for the winning team, while losing team top 3 players get a 40%, and go down 10% each player as an example. Doesn't sit right that the top players win nothing on a random dice roll while the baggage on the team gets a legendary loot.
  • Some in-game map of the region [beaten by CornDogg]
  • Slight tweak to point weight in control. Kills of all styles still seem too weighted as they did back in Halo in comparison to objectives.

It's an area thing. Only teammates near by get ammo, not everyone.

Wait. Really?

(at the crouching thing)

Nitpicks but I would like

  • 3rd Person in co-op option outside of the tower. Normal FPSs don't need a 3rd person option, Destiny does.
    Not in versus though
  • Option to make helmets visible or not(like most MMO/RPGs), for the sake of variety

-Lots more customization options plus a barber at the tower. Give me my beard!

-Make actual use of the touchpad instead of just making it a button you press that then asks you to press another button. Plenty of uses for them that won't be gimmicky.

Facial hair. Unquestionably. More character customization features too. I want red eyes for my Motoko Titan build, please Bungie.
