Well, that wasn't the most exciting update, but I will say that Mew, Celebi, and Jirachi seem to have much greater than a 1/493 chance of appearing. >_> I've seen Mew once, Celebi three times, and Jirachi five times, and I doubt I've thrown 493 Poke Balls period.



Edit: I'm going to tentatively put up scottnak's collection of quotes from posts 1-2,500, and maybe we can take votes or something on stuff that we think doesn't deserve to make the final cut. If it seems like a good idea, I'll do that for others too: basically I'll use the same post, but take out those quotes and replace with a new section to vote on. Okay, first I have to say this isn't particularly representative, because scottnak quotes more than everybody. Way, way more. Or at least way, way more than everybody who isn't me; I'm fairly comparable.

But anyway, it's very good in this case to have more stuff rather than less, because it should help us immensely in getting clarity of vision on what we think is deserving of a final thread summary. And some may back off on wanting to see full quotes rather than link clicks after seeing this, maybe. Shoot, for the sake of just a little bit smaller size, I'm only putting up what scottnak got out of the thread's first 1,000 posts rather than the full 2,500... Because he really, really quotes a lot. After all, this post is going to temporarily look ludicrously enormous until I delete it, which I will after people can see what it looks like as a CASE STUDY. And just think, this is only from 40% of a single section of 2,500 posts. (Even if it is scottnak. (I can so much only because he knew he quoted a lot and said so when sending in his collections. >_>))

First post wishing for a character to be in.

Is anyone else hoping for NiGHTS to make it in? I am, tbqh. Here is my shitty attempt at making a "moveset" for him.

btw, imo, NiGHTS would be a pretty awesome addition. He could do some kind of acrobatic kicks/trips/punches for his A attacks... he could fly/hover above the arena in an arms-forward flying position rather than running... his ^B could be a paraloop, and when he reaches the top of the loop, he could go up, or wherever you pointed (like Fox's ^b). Also, any enemies inside the loop would be damaged. His >B could be a spinning boost attack. Instead of jumping, he could fly temporarily when you hold X. Also, he would be able to fly in any direction, rather than just left and right. If the SSB64 intros return, he could enter through an ideya palace. Also, his taunt could be bowing. At the least, he would be really unique. I just came up with a few ideas because I remember lots of people being extremely opposed to the idea of NiGHTS being in Brawl for some reason.

Japan Time still not confirmed. People are waiting for the update 8PM PST...

Sakurai updated the site at 3am EST last night (that's 4pm JAPAN TIME:lol ), but I don't see why he would stick to that strict schedule. I'm guessing he'll update the site whenever he feels like it during the day.

Well they said some of the original characters wouldn't be returning, and Ness seems like a suspiciously throwaway character for the worldwide audience. Even more so than Fire Emblem characters, which actually has been getting consistent releases in the US now.

Sakurai said that all the original characters from the first game will be back, so yes...

Even though I don't care for them, I'd rather see the Ice Climbers stay and the clones (Pichu, Roy, Falco, etc) be removed... also, I'd like to see Ganondorf's moveset stripped away from him completely and rebuilt from the ground up as a totally new character (with a sword) as opposed to being a clone.

Too bad Mr Game & Watch was already confirmed to be out... as much as I didn't care to use him, he was pretty entertaining visually and had a very cool stage.

Sakurai confirmed months ago that Mr Game & Watch was out. It's been too long for me to be able to find the story, but Mr G&W is gone and that is straight from the man himself. You can choose not to believe me if you like, of course.

Mewtwo has plenty of potential: the problem is that he's big, has a bad shield, AND is light.

Pichu? On one hand, he's harder to hit than Pikachu, and he's faster. On the other hand, he has no range, he doesn't have the power of Pikachu's smashes, a lot of the annoying moves pikachu has (tail spike and down smash) are completely nerfed with pichu, he has the most difficult shorthop in the game, and he's the lighest character in the game.

I would say the characters iwth the least potentialk in the game are Kirby, pichu, and Bowser, in that order (from best to worst)

Well, rumors are pointing to Sheik..being eliminated. Apparently, because the Twilight Princess-Zelda is the one that will be in the game; she's going to have a sword and a bow/arrow....all moves are going to be magic-based (magic arrows, etc)..

Rumor so far...who knows.

On a more serious note, if anything (to me) was going to indicate Shiek's removal from SSBB it would be some of the moves we've seen so far from Zero Suit Samus. Maybe it's just me, but some of her moveset seems Shiek-esque.

Don't even talk to me about those freaking Legendaries. I've never seen Mew once (though I don't really need it anymore since I have all of the CDs now.). I've seen Celebi twice and both times he dropped all of his trophies off of the side of the stage. I've seen Jirachi twice and he spilled all of his stickers over the side of the stage the first time I saw him. That sounds fine. I do want to throw in another vote for keeping the majority as actual readable quotes WITHOUT links, though. I can say that I, personally, will read/skim much more of these if I don't have to actually click links to get to them. (However I do like the idea of having links for when specific discussions start, like where you have "everyone starts talking about this here *page link*, AND I do think the quotes should mostly be kept to really interesting/relevant/funny stuff )

I don't think it's a huge deal if it ends up being insanely long... think about it - these will be the final posts of the thread. It's not like people need to scroll past it to get back to regular discussion. If they don't want to read it, there is no reason to continue reading the thread anyway

Pretty much. The only reason I had ever opposed actually embedding the quotes directly into the post was out of concerns that the post would end up being extremely cluttered. However, I think that it's a better method than to have a thousand links, which would be really inconvenient for readers.

And, like Cheezy said, since it's going to be the end of the thread, length isn't really an issue. Although I do think that we should avoid quoting an excessive amount, just to keep from going totally overboard on the length.

Predictions are going to be fun, last night got rid of a ton of potential updates.
