Because we are stupid and secretly hate ourselves?
Edit: I know that's true for me.

I think you guys are over thinking it. He's either A) available from start, or B) the first or third unlockable.MrCheez said::lol Yeah I did. At least if I had to be so thoroughly owned, it got to be from someone as rad as Sakurai. Whoever said that it seems like Sakurai reads GAF is right O_O
Pretty unlucky that the ONE NIGHT I decide to get into heavy discussion about how Snake wouldn't be shown is the same freakin' night it happens. Grrr
Oh well... I wonder what this means at this point:
1) Snake is a starter character,
or 2) Sakurai doesn't mind showing unlockable content on the site before the games release,
or 3) Number 2 is in effect ONLY for Snake because he's a special case (since Sakurai and Kojima are buddy buddys)
or 4) Nothing is possible to predict anymore, just stop trying!
Considering that Snake was shown at the MGS event in TGS earlier (with pictures online from Famitsu and other sources), it really wasn't a surprise to see the long-awaited MGS update.Keru_Shiri said:I'm really thinking it's just #4. Count me in the camp that was sure that Snake's profile wouldn't be mentioned on the site, and lo and behold, we get Snake, MGS music, and Snake's moves all in one day! :lol
Not that I'm complaining, since I can finally prove to some of my friends that, yes, he is still in the game and not cut for some weird reason.

When this generation is over, think about how many people will have played Smash Brothers. It's not a stretch to say that this could be the Wiis best selling game for the whole generation.
But meanwhile MGS4 is being billed as the PS3 killer app and it's being shown at TGS right now. And with Brawl Nintendo is actually advertising a Playstation exclusive property.
:lol :lol :lolusea said:You should drop a line to nintendo and let them know that they could use your advice in matters of business.

This is the first we've heard of that particular music, no? (Although it did sound sorta PotC-ish) Only problem is (and this is simply a HUGE pet peeve of mine) the MIDI. Gargh! I understand they won't ever do it in the game, but I hope we get an orchestrated version of the Brawl soundtrack at some point. (ala Smashing Live)

EktorPR said:Are you sure it isn't orchestrated? That piece sounded very much orchestrated to me!
XiaNaphryz said:Kinda surprised there wasn't a separate thread made for Snake...considering all the other ones that were made.
The standard in the game industry is to use MIDI for sampler tracks...when all the tracks are finalized and written up there's usually one large recording session with the orchestra done shortly before alpha.traveler said:Yeah, I'm positive. Non-orchestrated music is my "uncanny valley."
Edit: Smash Bros. has never had an orchestrated soundtrack in-game, so I doubt it. (Aside from the main theme) There have been releases after the fact.

Didn't stop all the other silly separate update threads, just surprised considering the sheer amount of Snake fanboys around here is all.Holy Order Sol said:There was. 2 years ago.

I'd be very surprised if the in-game music is still MIDI from all the info we've heard so far.
You can still sample a chorus effect in synth you know.EktorPR said:But I thought the Poké Stadium theme in Melee was orchestrated!! That chorus couldn't have been "created", no sirre.
traveler said:Yeah, but look at Melee, or Twilight Princess, or Corruption, etc. Hey, I'd be the happiest of all if it turned out to be true, but I don't think it will happen.

I don't think any of those games stated that they were going to have a fully orchestrated in-game soundtrack, did they?traveler said:Yeah, but look at Melee, or Twilight Princess, or Corruption, etc. Hey, I'd be the happiest of all if it turned out to be true, but I don't think it will happen.

The legendary mercenary makes his miraculous Smash debut! This law-breaking news roared around the world.
He comes fully loaded with cool and showy weapons that only he could possess. Couple them with these different worlds, and it will clear a path to new horizons.

Did they explicitly say they would for Brawl, or was that just for Nobou's piece? That would seem a bit inconsistent if they just leave it at that one track...
No it doesn't. This game is about iconic video game characters.koam said:This game needs a "Create-a-Character" mode... on top of Mii support (should it support Mis of course)
Two words: My Music...robut said:While the new MGS4 music is awesome I'll be forever sad Snake's theme isn't the MGS2 theme
Seriously, people. Do try and keep up.Akai said:Two words: My Music...
traveler said:I guess I was mistaken then. I remembered the main theme being orchestrated, but that was it.
Can someone find me a link to where Sakurai says the Brawl soundtrack will be orchestrated?

The main theme was created for us by none other than famed Final Fantasy composer, Nobuo Uematsu!
Additionally, opera singer Ken Nishikiori has also participated in this project on vocals.
...And as a special service to readers of this site, I can say that the game's music will be performed by a full orchestra.
It will be a deluxe chorus complete with lyrics in Latin.
maybe... maybe its a taunt.SuperAngelo64 said:So, I see Snake with his box.
And I remember earlier a long ass time ago, Sakurai said something about how Snake would definitely have his box in this game.
But since it doesnt really fit into any of his attacks.. it makes me wonder.
Will this game have custom stage entrances like Smash64? Maybe Snake's stage entrance is popping up from his box.
Ever since Sakurai announced the crapload of musicians working on the game, I always felt that complete orchestration had been compromised...Even more-so after the My Music update...But I'm a midi fan, so whatever...WastingPenguins said:That's kind of ambiguous. I can't tell if he's just saying that the main theme will be orchestrated and someone translated that sentence poorly, or if he's saying that all the music will be orchestrated. The sentence right after that, "it will be complete with latin lyrics", makes me think maybe he's just referring to the main theme... who knows.
