In honor of that occasion, let's see the latest post counts for the thread:
Code:
Zeed 724
ShockingAlberto 577
Firestorm 469
Haunted One 454
Jiggy37 440
Awesome.

Good God, if Zeed wasn't banned the Halo 3 thread wouldn't stand a chance.
I think it might get beaten in the long run regardless, actually. Right now it's at 309 pages (50 per page). After the game's release I expect another 300 or so following relatively quickly. That might be lowballing, but the logic I'm working on is that Pokemon D/P ultimately only managed around 312 and most of that was because people basically had to communicate via GAF to get games set up, whereas for Halo 3 they have a perfectly workable system built into the console itself.
As for this thread, it's at 425 pages after 18 weeks of updates, and there are 10 weeks of updates remaining. If the posting rate remains consistent, we should end up at around 661 pages before the official SSBB thread starts up.
Of course, the posting rate may slow down. Partly because of the temporary Zeed absence. :lol But more because the Subspace Emissary and Wi-Fi Play updates were about as big as it'll ever get in terms of single updates that spark a load of thread activity, so in some ways the best is behind us.
On the bright side...
Any new challengers from here on out will be entirely new to us, no E3 remnants left. And 12 SSBM characters have gotten profiles so far. Assuming that even as few as two characters were cut, this means we've already seen at least half of the returning fighters.
