Smash Bros Brawl Dojo Official Update Thread: Goodbye, Cherry-don

Looks like Nintendo games are showing third parties the way. Metroid controls, SMG graphics, SBS customization features, in other words making full use of all the Wii features.

From 2008 onwards, third parties will have to try harder to earn their monies from me.

Cheers for this update, biggest improvement so far over SSB. :D

Using Wii-mote and Nunchuck as NUNCHUCKS!

Maybe if you chose to play as your Mii you would pick another character to mirror. And maybe your Mii would wear a cap of sorts like Kirby to let other players know what character you are mimicking.

Boxer, hit you with a golf club, splat you with a tennis racket, own you with a homerun bat.
Send tons of bowling balls raining down at you for a final smash. also can all on mini tanks and cows from Wii Play
Pretty good ideas actually. All centered around the Wii and Wiisports.

For the final smash, they could also use the Wiimote as a weapon to take control of another player's character for a short period of time,. It would then mirror what your mii is doing essentially taking one opponent from the battle field and you're mii having a double to attack two sides of the stage. Or you could just direct them to fall off the stage for a one hit KO.

This is fucking pimp. I guess the next megaton would be everybody's favorite Square Enix character to put up against link in Gamefaqs polls.

And Mii support I guess.

I just thought of a better final smash for the Mii

he blows a whistle and a Mii Parade of thousands of Miis trample you to death :D
I like yours better :(

Bonus if it includes Miis you already created and recieved from friends.

Question: would another delay be acceptable if it means stage editor for the adventure mode?

No. Stage editor for adventure mode? What?

You're probably right about that, but I was having a hard time thinking of anything else

I guess any addition of a 3rd party character will be megation.

I think a Mii Plaza stage, inhabited by the Miis saved in your current console, should be a given.
You fight amongst them, scaring them to death.

Give this man a crown. :D

We all know the delay was for marketing reason first and foremost.
Yes, but would another one for the express purpose of more user customizable content be acceptable? Just a 'what if.'

Do you guys think the stage editor will be wiimote compatible (so we can drag and place blocks and things by pointing at the screen).

This would be pretty awesome.

(This may seem pretty obvious but normally when we play with the wiimote we hold it to the side)

this will be the last smash bros game ever.
This is the sad part of today's update. Sakurai won't make a sequel when there's no room for improvement left anymore. Plus, he destroys the whole industry because people stop buying games after SSBB.

Don't see why not...

With the grid there, it looks like it's slot based so the only advantage the Wiimote will have is a little faster manipulation of the objects.

EDIT: Oh... the blue bar in that pic isn't completely down; wonders if there's another set of contents available.

I have been waiting for this since Iwata said that Wii was meant to be a system that was new and fresh everyday. I just hope it works flawlessly. I dont want to get into the shop channel to download the stage or anything. I just want to get into the game and see a the new stage!

SMASH BROTHERS HAS A FUCKING LEVEL EDITOR!

I wanted this before, but not too much as it's fundamentally similar to Melee, which isn't fresh enough for me to enjoy too much now. But this is fantastic.

If it was for marketing, why would they announce it as December first and push it back? Just so they could lie through their teeth at E3? I find that hard to believe.

Shit..SHIT!!

1. Level Editor (we can save in Sd and send to friends...maybe)
2. Nintendo DAILY levels!
3. Bumble Blast!! :D
4. Sonic style spikes!
5. Dedede float.

This is THE megaton of this game... I mean what could top this update NOW? I can´t think about anything at all...

BTW: who the hell is Forge?

Yeah. the only thing I can think of right now that I really want is smash bros is a replay mode, a la Halo 3. Me and my bro and cousin would record our games just so we could rewatch all the great things and close calls that unfold during a game.

Insaniac said:
Man, a Level editor would be icing on the cake.

Even a simple one that lets you choose the backdrop, and simply place platforms (with options of destructibility and rotation) would be sweet. If Sakurai had a deep level editor.... I just don't know what I'd do.

Insaniac said:
Ya know how much replay value SSBB would have if it also included a good level editor? i could deal with a delay.

So yeah I admit, I know sakurai personally and this is why he delayed the game.

But srsly o.m.f.g. i am the happiest camper ever.:D

"There's a lot more to Smash Bros. Brawl than platform jumping and fighting--perhaps too much. There are so many different modes and characters that you get the sense that the developer didn't say "no" to any idea that was presented during the design process. It would've been preferrable if they simply had one central character named Master Chief and presented the game from a first person perspective."

HOLY SHITTY FUCK! This game is beyond epic now, level editor now, omfg this is awesome!!!

And the fact that new levels as given to us everyday is just a nice treat! This game is to be played forever!!!

Dexter is coming home to you....

OH MY GOD! I would've never expected this, not in a million years!!!!! GOTFOREVER!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Great use of Wii Connect 24 as well! Finally! a game that uses WiiConnect 24 the way it was always intended to be used!!!!!!!!!

I just hope we can actually play with these custom levels online! Plus, those damn elitists can die happy with their custom "Tournament Ready" flat stage!

Does anyone know if this Subspace adventure mode is going to be a fully fledged single player game? As in, 5+ hour single player campaign? Or, is it just going to be the story mode for each character like they have in fighting games?

No one really knows for sure except for sakurai

There is nothing else to say, could this game POSSIBLY HAVE ANYTHING ELSE LEFT TO GIVE??? EVERYTHING +1 IS WHAT WE'RE GETTING.

Without a doubt GAME OF THE FOREVER.

This games legend will be passed down from generation to generation.

Gawd I feel sorry for people who are like "Oh, I don't really like Smash Bros." I seriously feel so fucking bad for you. You are to miss out on something this amazing, the greatest gift gaming has ever given to us and will probably ever get again (unless he somehow comes back to make a sequel... but what else could they put in?)

The Kitchen Sink will be an item to throw at people hopefully.

not to complain but i don't understand why you can keep nintendo-chosen level only for a single day... if you really liked the stage you could just recreate it so why don't they let you save it and save yourself the work?

oh also sending snapshots makes sense considering when melee was released there was a contest for funny screencaps

Yes you could just remake the level yourself. The reason it's daily is probably so levels don't start to take up too much space. A level a day would add up quickly

Now, they just need a character creator (with the option of using trophies and assist trophies as skins too, rather than only generic custom looks) and then Brawl will basically be eternal.

Sakurai called it a "robust single player game". It seems to be a generic mode for everyone, not a specific mode for each character. According to the videos and screens, character selection is made before each stage (either in the party screen, from the world map, or choosing between a few characters in a pre-battle cutscene). It has its own world map and each level even has its own individual completion's percentage.

Of course, that still doesn't reveal how long it's really supposed to be- but I'd guess it's obviously longer than single player from fighting games, considering how it's a unified single player experience, rather than something that is supposed to be played through repeatedly with different characters.
