I still want a Tetris stage...

"Look! Where are they fighting?"

"The tetris theme starts playing!"

"Wa... watch out for falling pieces!"

"You fight on the pieces as they build up! The level changes constantly!"

"Finally, a line piece scores a Tetris! The stage resets!"

Do you see the little orange sliver? That's how little that piece adds to the bar. There's more than enough room for a stage you want. I honestly do prefer the platform approach. I don't see people complaining that all the stages in Street Fighter are flat with a different background.
But this isn't street fighter
but do you see how easy it would be to recreate something like new pork city in the level editor than something like hyrule temple

The thing that makes me think it'll be SA is the fact that they used Live and Learn for his trailer music, which makes me think they'll use it for his level, as well.

But then again, I'm pretty sure they didn't with Snake, so who knows.

Your logic is sound. If I follow that logic then the only logical place for the stage would be another hovering platform stage flying around the ARC with the Biohazard, ultimate life form thing in the back ground.

However, I'll still hold on to the belief that Live and Learn was used because it describes Sonic so well. And pray we still get Green Hill.

I expect to see a level that looks like the first level in Sonic Heroes which was inspired from the Genesis days but had a realistic 3D look.

For all that Sonic Heroes did wrong in gameplay, it did get the proper Sonic aesthetic down. Bright colours, checkerboard hillsides...that's what Sonic's supposed to look like. I detest the pseudo realistic look of the Adventure games, Shadow, and the 360 title.

I know people put down the Sonic games alot but I really think people just have this pre-conceived hatred.

Gameplay-wise I think the newer games rule!

I even enjoyed Shadow the Hedgehog. I mean I really hated the character, his cheesy plot, and the music. But it was a fun, fast-paced game.

Mega Man music would be so amazing in Brawl. More amazing that Mega Man himself! :D

No need to spoiler that. Everyone knows it to be true.

Edit: :lol I just realized, the new subtitle not only describes the update, but also this entire thread. :lol

The game would have been a lot better with another year or two of work. More variety in the levels, focus on one core team instead of four, and run some damn bug testing.

The latest Smash em up is up with Square Enix characters possible for Brawl

Its pretty funny checking IGNS old Smash em ups. They were right on stuff like King Deedee and Lucas

Well, the GBA Sonic fighting game, Sonic Battle, had a Green Hill Zone level.

Take that as you will.

Sonic Advance 3 had Sunset Hill. The music was basically Green Hill on steroids.

(I want Palmtree Panic so much :( )

To be fair, they weren't hard guesses.

Both were on the Smash poll and both were supposed to be in earlier games, but weren't in there for various reasons that have been remedied with Brawl's release.

Casino Night Zone would be the perfect stage for Smash.

Green Hill Zone wouldent be bad, but they wouldent be able to make it a creative and cool level, it would just be the normal flat land with platforms to jump on, maybe spikes and springs also.

Casino Night Zone could have all sorts of awesome stuff going on inside it, while it wont be the most practical for "serious" Smash players, it would be the type of stage that is awsome fun like Big Blue.

Yeah, since seeing some E4All videos I've thought this stage looked like it had a lot more 'fun' potential than the old Metroid stages.

Hey, could I bug you for some brief E4All impressions while you're here?

How much did you enjoy what you played and is there anything about it that you didn't particularly like? What character did you like the most? Stage? Anything else stand out to you after your playtime as particularly noteworthy or memorable?

(I'm about to head off to work but thanks in advance if you take the time to answer :) )

Well, I played it a couple of times only, but id say it is as awesome as you are probably expecting it to be. Basically Melee on steroids. Needless to say probably the most important addition is the smash balls, and the power ups that they trigger. They add even more fun to the fights and look soooo freaking cool. Secont to that being a nintendo fan the assist trophies are like the most amazing fan service ever, and had me grinning. The stages: id say starfox stage looks especially amazing, as does Zelda TP bridge stage.

Nothing was lacking as far as i can say, probably except for the selection of characters being limited in the demo. And about the timing, which some people have been callling slower than melee, i have to say seemed spot on with me.

All in all i was happy as a child playing Brawl. February cant come soon enough.

That level was the only worthwhile part of Sonic Adventure 2. The rest of the game was complete garbage, but that one level was awesome.

People give Sonic Adventure 2 way too much shit. I thought it was a solid 7 to 7.5 game. Awesome music and some great levels intermixed with the shit. I don't regret it's purchase nor the fact that I actually did the work to unlock the Green Hill Zone. From what I played of Shadow the Hedgehog, now that game seemed totally broken. That deserves all the shit it gets. Haven't played any of the other 3D Sonic games since Adventure 2 so I can't comment.

As for IGN's Square based "Smash it Up" I couldn't help but laugh when their first two choices were
Slime and Chocobo
. I had flashbacks of deja vu considering all the debates in this thread over them.

This thread is so dead during the weekend.

That's okay because it's totally going to explode with tonights megaton!

Let's get my prediction in early: Veteran tonight! But who? Captain Falcon seems the obvious choice, but it'd be nice to be surprised by someone like Sheik or Ganondorf. (Maybe Ganon will become a starter character this time around, just like how Falcon and Ness went from unlockables to starters in the 64 to Melee transition?)

Sheik (if he's still in the game, anyway!) and Ganon will both make for really exciting updates. Sheik because of his possible redesign, and Ganon because he should (hopefully) have an all new moveset!

Don't forget guys... tonight is the 150th update!

I remember all the hype for the 100th update, and thinking to myself: "I doubt Sakurai even notices that this is the 100th update... I wouldn't expect anything special"

...and then, BAM! We got the Wifi Megaton that night! O_O

It's a man, baby!

...(It'd probably be best if we didn't get into the age-old debate about this, though!)

SSBM calls it a girl, so, at least, in this topic, Sheik's officially a girl, there's no room for discussion.

Anyway, I'm predicting a character too, either Sheik or Falcon.

Predicting Jigglypuff tonight because I said Captain Falcon the last two times I predicted a character. Would pick a character regardless since we've gone eleven sad days without one. :(

Also, I have to pick someone up from the airport late tonight, so my statistics should be a minimum 30 minutes late even assuming that the traffic coming back is moving flawlessly and that baggage is out fairly quickly.

Eh, I disagree that the US translation closes the case. Does anyone know what the Japanese profile in Melee says?

The US translations of the mario games refer to Birdo as a female, when it is in fact male in the original Japanese games. :p

Even if the Japanese trophy page in Melee says the same as the US page, I'm still not convinced it's cannon when it's a small blurb in a spin-off game worked on by people who weren't involved in the development of OOT.

It's going to be a sad day indeed if there isn't a character profile tonight. Then it would be 12 days without one... insanity! :(

Just think of it this way: We know who Sheik really is so there is no point in debating in whether a simple badass persona is a diff gender. If you think Sheik is a guy, then the disguise has work and you have been fooled.

I think the debate centers around what you think actually HAPPENS when Zelda becomes Sheik. Is she putting on a costume, or is she actually transforming into a different person?

I think the complete change in her facial structure, her skin tone, eye color, and new muscular physique points to the fact that she is actually transforming into a different person. In fact, perhaps she is changing into a Sheikah that really existed - maybe Sheik used to be a living dude?

Either way though, this is all just my opinion (I think it's an interesting topic anyway, although it's a debate that is years old now) and I can see how it can be looked at either way.

Anyway, it will be interesting to see if the NEW Sheik design is more masculine or feminine looking. Hell, every aspect of this new design is going to be interesting... I can't wait. I wonder what the philosophy behind the changes will be. Can anyone pinpoint an aspect of the "Twilight Princess Style" that they think will be adopted for the Sheik makeover? Darker or less saturated colors is one thing to probably expect I guess?

Didn't later games like Super Mario RPG retcon Birdo into a female anyway? (I'm honestly not sure, just asking.)
And it shoots eggs, so it must be female. /Snake logic

so it's only 3 week before we hit 3 december,it's probably that since they didn't plan the delay on 3 december they will start unveling the unlockable characters also since only a character get revealed in a week that means there are only 3 more starter at maximum
right now there are also 23 character... 26 sounds an improbable number so i guess there will be 25 character also since c.falcon is nowhere to be seen so i guess we will get only another starter newcomer
