Nintendo fricken rocks!
...why?Lé Blade Runner said:I am also pleased with this update. *Very* pleased.

pvpness said:Neat. I like the idea of one force invading the Nintendo universe.
Unrelated to that awesomeness, would it be possible to throw a stage editor in this game? I'm thinking yes as long as it was restricted to platforms within specific environments.
WildArms said:I actually don't want anything like Create a stage/Create a character/Add your own music etc.
I'm not sure why. I'm just overly pleased with what they are offering, and it's as if all this is for nothing if they give us a chance to add in or create our own stuff.
Here are the least recent types of updates:JohnTinker said:We're due for a stage
I'd love it if that was the next online mode they revealed: share created stages LBP-style. Of course, a good 60% of the Mother stages would be made by Amir0x, but nothing they'd be able to do about that.pvpness said:Unrelated to that awesomeness, would it be possible to throw a stage editor in this game? esbern said:as long as they come out with a perfectly flat stage i'll be fine. 1v1 tourney no items is the way for me.

Dr.Hadji said:You know there are more tourney legal stages than just FD. Depending on the tourney, crazy shiz like Poke Floats is legal.

I'm mostly like you, but even perfectly flat stages aren't entirely fair.esbern said:as long as they come out with a perfectly flat stage i'll be fine. 1v1 tourney no items is the way for me.
WastingPenguins said:So... just a thought. If we have a GAF Wi-Fi Brawl Tournament, how are we going to decide on the settings/stages for the matches? Half the community will blow up if you tell them we're not using items, and half will blow up if you tell them we are. What will we do?! :lol
Exactly, have two divisions. One "tournament friendly" with a limited stage selection and no items, and one "no limitations" with random selection of any stage and all items open.WastingPenguins said:EDIT: I suppose we could just make two or more "divisions" of the tourney--one for items, one for not?
SuperJay said:But it would be so cool! Imagine: you select a picture from an sd card as your background, a song as your background music, and place a selection of platforms where ever you wish. Then you could send your custom level to a friend and battle it out!
I don't think this is going to happen. But if it did, it would be an amazing feature. DO WANT.
Jiggy37 said:The trouble I see with items in general is that they tone down the advantage of ordinary projectiles. I can't think of the last time I was seriously worried about short-hop lasers or Samus missiles in a match with items on--there's too much to fear from the flying beam swords and bats instead, things that do real damage and have real knockback
.
But I guess it could be moderated a bit if items were on but set to very low. And the really broken stuff like Heart Container, Starman, Golden Hammer, etc. would need to go.

Being more powerful, being faster, and having better functions (midair floating) than an already broken item makes an item broken to me.Dr.Hadji said:How is the Golden Hammer broken? Banning things before the game gets off of the ground? Come now.

Hmm, maybe I just haven't played enough matches with Hammers on to notice. Well, either that or it's because in item matches I tend to pick characters I'd never use otherwise. But okay, you seem like you know more about this than I do.Dr. Hadji said:The original hammer is no where near broken. Its a linear attack which makes it very easy to read and very easy to counter. It has a set timing which you can easily strike through once you know it. It has ok priority, so you can attack though it given the right move.
I'm kind of figuring he won't be.ant1532 said:So I wonder if Pokemon Trainer is going to run around with his pokemon in Story mode if he can even be selectable...
Jiggy37 said:Pokemon Trainer would be needed for the Pokemon switching to make sense visually.
WastingPenguins said:Someone said that custom stages would be limited because of the system's limited internal memory... but now that I think about it, couldn't we just store them on SD cards?
Raging Spaniard said:Pokemon Trainer will be selectable on story mode, hes one of the new main characters after all.
I mean shit, even if he "cant" follow you around on the stage, does it even matter? He has no active role in the gameplay other than to add visual flair.
bigmakstudios said:meh... no offense intended, but I don't really care for the idea of a stage editor in Brawl. Part of the SSB series' appeal is its nostialgic flair, and I don't think user created stages would really provide that at all... and strange as this might sound, I think it's actually a bad idea in a series that doesn't thrive on user-created content and periodically has sequels. If fans are given all the tools to create ssb stages for themselves, then what original layouts will be left for future installments? i'm not sure if this actually makes any sense, but whatever. >_>
Stumpokapow said:Possible Game 1: SSBB
Possible Game 2: SSBB + custom stages
Why would anyone pick number one?

Raging Spaniard said:Because the effort to make a really good custom stage editor could take staff off from designing the actual stages of the games, resulting in poorer quality pre set stages + stage editor.
Haunted One said:Maybe he'll just run along in the background of the stages.
Stumpokapow said:You know full well that Nintendo is willing to give development teams all the time and resources they need to finish things at their own pace... Especially someone like Sakurai. If Sakurai said "We want two extra months to add more features", they'll get the two months. If he said "We need six months to polish", they'd get the six months.
