1. Sheik is AWESOME
2. I heard they were redesigning Sheik to look more TP-ish
3. Sheik is a guy

Think about it this way-- if a guy is dressing up as a woman in a play and he is convincing enough to pull it off, then the character he is playing is FEMALE, much like how Zelda plays Sheik who is MALE
This thread has reached a new low.

well, that wouldn't change the fact that that person is still a guy, so Sheik is still a reverse trap.

anyway, i like this rotation mode, and considering the trend, i'm going to predict another game mode update: this time maybe an online tournament mode?

People still think Sheik will be in this game? Poor souls.

My belief is that every non-cloned moveset from Melee will transfer over to Brawl in some form or another. (Even if in some cases it is adopted by new characters (Ness -> Lucas))

A year ago I thought Sheik was probably gone because ZSS appeared to be a clone, but now we know that isn't true so Sheik's chances shot way up in my mind.

Plus you can't disregard the fact that Sheik is popular. Sakurai is basing almost ALL of his decision on what the majority of the player base wants (there is TONS of evidence of this... just look at the old character poll and how much of it came true)

Sheik isn't a definite yet, but he is very likely. (I keep trying to be very clear about using "likely" instead of "sure thing". We should have all learned by now that in the end we can never be 100% sure of anything with Sakurai and his crazy mind games)

I'm not denying that Sheik is a woman in disguise, but the concept or the essence of Sheik himself is that he is male.

I still think the final character reveal will before release will be Mii :D

and that both snake & sonic will be not only playable from the start but feature on the cover and in the adverts.

M&S @ olympics status as best selling Wii game ever in the UK suggests that the game will market itself to the great unwashed with the right cover stars.

I can't wait to see what Brawl sales figures are like :O

Personally, I would prefer to just see Sheik's moveset revitalized in another character, as opposed to just bringing her back one more time. I mean, if I can't have my Nobuyuki Hiyama-voiced Link from OoT, why should any other character, or version of that character from OoT, get any sort of additional play? The TP generation is ruling the roost this time, with the possibility that WW Link may take over for Young Link. That's pretty much going to be the story for this release of the game.

Now, again, if they were to just transfer the playstyle, or an evolution of it, over to some one else (I'd nominate a F-Zero character, like Jody Summers!), that's fine. Hell, I'd love it, even.

I don't think Sheik is in the game, but I do find it odd that there have been few updates about Princess Zelda. I do think it would be cool if she could transform into (Twilight Princess spoilers)
Ganon's Puppet Zelda.

Nah, you could change characters by pressing on the D-Pad or Control Stick or L or R or something stupid. They never told you how though. I doubt we'd use it considering people come and go every hour as a class starts/finishes.

That's true, traffic moves through pretty quickly... It might end up being more of a hassle to go back and change who's actually in the rotation than to just leave it in versus mode.

Firestorm said:
Go to Tournament Mode, change the game mode to Winner Out or Loser out. Voila.

Yes, but that makes you play a tournament. You can't just play singular matches, like this Rotation update talks about.

No it doesn't. It puts you through a Rotation. Try it out. There'll be three modes, Tournament / Winner Out / Loser Out. Winner/Loser Out are NOT the same as Tournament.

Ganon's Puppet Zelda.

^ That would be nice too. Especially if it would still give Zelda the opportunity to use a new move-set to increase her versatility, even if Sheik was lost to her. I would imagine being able to have fancy pants air combos would be nifty... :D

I'll be surprised if Sheik isn't still Zelda's transformation, myself. Sheik is both a unique moveset and a unique transformation mechanic. Unless they include another transforming character who isn't limited by time (Pokemon Trainer) or final smashes (Samus), I don't see Sheik being detached from Zelda, TP version or not.

Ah. Another one of those debates that never die.

Anyway... There is no way for us to know if Zelda simply costumes herself, or if she uses magic to actually transform herself into a biological man. Sound crazy and perverse? Sure, maybe, but OoT doesn't tell us which it is so everyone is pretty much free to believe what they want. For the record, Sheik is actually a man in the Japanese OoT manga. Personally, however, I find it easiest to forgo the wild theories and just call Sheik a 'she'. To each his own I'd say. :lol

Also, Sheik is definitely, definitely still in Brawl. Believe.

It's not as noticeable in-game, but if you listen to the voice samples in Melee by themselves, the Sheik samples are obviously a female voice trying to sound male. That may lend to the fire one way or the other.

If Sheik isn't in Brawl, I'll... absolutely not say anything that could conceivably be considered a ban bet, since those have seemed to annoy sp0rsk in the past. >_> But I'll at least be very surprised. Whether separate or still part of Zelda, I'm calling that Sheik's in. And so is Phantom Hourglass Link; he's the most recent incarnation, after all.

Does it really matter what gender pronoun we use to refer to Sheik? I consider that the "character" or persona that Zelda assumes when she's Sheik is male, but Zelda is, of course, female. When it comes to Sheik, I use the pronouns interchangably and leave it at that.

By the way, put me in the camp that says Sheik is still in.

Didn't the Eiji Aounuma confirm that Ganondorf and Shiek would be returning? If only I knew where that interview was...

That interview, much like the "Animal Crossing Resident is a character" interview, never really got "confirmed," so to speak, people just kind of decided it was true and it got accepted as fact just like so many other false rumors in this big game of fanboy telephone that is Smash Bros. Brawl.

That said, the interview only said that he made designs for them in Twilight Princess style, not that either of them are playable. So if the interview is true, then they could just as likely be Assist Trophies.

Really? Hmm...oh well :lol

I SERIOUSLY doubt they'd be assist trophies. It's more likely that a character like...like...Viewtiful Joe would be one :(

I can just imagine it now:

Sakurai gives us a "Zelda's special moves" update, confirming that she does indeed retain her SSBM moveset. But, being Sakurai, he'll leave off the down special move, say something cryptic, and then we'll all be torturing ourselves trying to speculate on exactly what he meant.

This update would've been really great back in my college days, when we'd have 20 people waiting to get in on a 4-player match in original/Melee. But now, I don't even think I could find 3 other (worthy) opponents.

Huh, well, that's the first time I've seen an actual source for it. Odd that they'd ask about Link, Ganondorf, and Sheik instead of Link, Ganondorf, and Zelda. Still, it doesn't change what I said: they could still be Assist Trophies instead of playable characters (though I expect Ganon at least to be playable).

Still never seen a source for the Animal Crossing one, and since that "interview" came right out and said the Resident was a playable character, I'm more inclined to believe it was fake.

The original fake interview said something along the lines that the AC guy, originaly worked with Sakurai for an item in 2006, but after the success of AC games, that expanded into a stage and character concepts and eventually Sakurai changed some things to better fit the stage and character to be fun to play with in game.

Animal Crossing one is Fake. http://go-nintendo.com/?p=26011 Shows the screens and the 'translated' caption. However in the comments section is another link to another currently banned site that shows the interview isnt actually from Famitsu.

I mean, the interview is only posted on banned sites from what I've found, and disproven on another currently banned site, so it should AT BEST be taken with a grain of salt.

It's good to hear you say that... I stumbled into a woman clad in Zelda badges and buttons and thingies at E for All. We discussed Zelda games for a bit, then she asked if I thought Sheik was a guy.

It was unpleasant. I've never seen such arched eyebrows of anger as when I said Zelda was just wearing a costume.

Isn't it generally more logical to believe the simpler solution given the complete lack of any support for the more complicated, obtuse one? I mean, the Mario games don't tell me that Luigi secretly had liposuction between SMB and SMB2/USA, but as they don't say he DIDN'T...

In any event, I fully expect Zelda to retain the Sheik transformation in Brawl. The "Smash Ball" transformation seems rather unlikely, honestly, but I suppose it's possible. I don't think they'll remove the transformation or split the character, though.

I predict that Zelda will turn into Shiek as her down + B in Brawl, but the character will play noticeably different.

For tonight's prediction: New item

NeonZ said:
I don't think that's the case. Why haven't they shown the opening yet?

A slightly edited version of SSBM's opening (hiding the Zelda gameplay footage) was shown at E3... Brawl is less than 2 months from release, and there's still no sign of opening footage.
The Melee opening is one of the greatest videogame intros of all-time! I hope Brawl's intro can top it. :D

My track record for success in predictions is 1 day out of 146: I got Zero Suit Samus' moves correct. So tonight, clearly I'm going to be correct again and it'll be Zelda's final smash.

Holy shit, NOW the stats are just getting ridiculous. =P

I hope you're right, though.

I got the sonic triple update, and that's it. Let's see who can have the most correct predictions! I predict a music update-F Zero

I called a game mode last night but guessed the wrong one. I also predicted online play but wasn't posting at that point. Anyway, what are the odds of Coro Coro info coming tonight? Sporsk said that there was a chance.
