So the PlayStation Vita.....

Like mentioned earlier, we can only hope that games will be shown on the show floor.

All games shown for Vita though were games that would appeal to typical western audiences.

Man I thought this was the E3 to show why to own the Vita with some of the hype they did, but it wasn't at all...

The Walking Dead bundle makes sense, reflects the Vita's current status.

But it isn't even walking. Sony is just stepping all over it.

Recovering from the PS4 OMGness, I'm actually shocked at how little time they devoted to Vita. Even last year when we crucified them for the lack of time they gave it more attention with stuff like PS All Stars. Hell PS All Stars may have gotten more time than the enitre Vita segment this year

As someone who owns a LOT of games on Vita...I really feel like the thing is going to be virtually dead after this year. I mean, that's TWO E3s in a row of saying pretty much nothing.

This thing is the new Dreamcast. In a year or two it'll be dead. Doesn't mean it isn't going to get some great games in the mean time, but it's just a matter of time now.

They did announce a few more games after the show started last year.

Didn't help then, won't help now. System is basically dead in the west.

Shahid is still promising announcements at some point in the future on Twitter, it seems.

FWIW, it's still possible that Sony will announce some Vita stuff via their livestream and PS Blog over the next few days.

I guess we'll have to wait then. Actions speak louder than words, so I'll take what he says lightly and see if he delivers. It's what I did with Microsoft, and they delivered on the games front somewhat.

They did hype up Destiny of Spirits somewhat though which was a massive disappointment...

"By the end of this year" - still more goalpost shifting.

WTF...

He seems like a really nice guy, but come on now.... if anyone else treated one of their platforms the way Sony treats Vita in front of the largest audience you will have all year long than they would not get the benefit of the doubt. And this is 2 years in a row.

I really expected a price drop announcement... I was disappointed.

Well I suppose. But it's not like he's saying he's going to reveal the info at the end of this year. I took that to mean the games will be out by then. Then again, if they don't announce them this week, I'm not sure what great games could be ready by Christmas.

I really think we're going to hear a lot more this week.

Edit: I should probably admit that I bought my Vita on Day -7 and really, really want them to give it at least half the love the PSP got.

Gamescom is probably where Vita stuff will be focused on.

Heck, this was the PS4's show. Why would they focus on the Vita here?

Welp this was probably the last chance. I really was expecting something good for Vita out of this conference. Not even ONE new game? That's too much.

Sony of America couldn't care less about the Vita. Ask again around Gamescom.

Where the two titles announced last year (Killzone, Tearaway) still won't be out meaning the next game from a European studio won't be out until 2014.

Sadly Vita is close to PSP level of failure in the West. It didn't even get an Assassin's Creed spinoff...

Close? PSP sold 50 million units outside of Japan.

The PSP sold 76 or so million units, and only 20 in Japan. It was a modest hit in the West the first few years.

The Vita is closer to the Dreamcast than anything

Guys just accept the fact that the vita is dead.. HD games will be moved to PS360. Sell your vita while you can get reasonable return

sell it to me for $75 so I can continue playing NFS:MW since its the closest thing the vita will get to a GTA game

As a Vita owner I am very disappointed that the only game i have preordered for it is Killzone. However I think the Ps4 reveal may breathe new life to the vita with its remote play function.

Price drop at gamescom.

I wish they showed more but they already ran over two hours. If there's nothing on the floor I'll get worried.

I've already heard major parts of the software lineup through Fall 2014. As much as people want to think Sony is killing it off - they aren't. That 10 games per unit sold and 60% of that being digital is good money for Sony. It's not the 3DS, it doesn't print money - but it's fine.

But is it good money for retailers is the bigger question(when some can't sell 1 Vita a month) but you seem confident they have some things to show.

I've always said I really liked the hardware of the Vita ... but I can't justify picking it up for only Persona 4: The Golden. I'd rather a PS4 TBH.

I know full well that you do have access to some actual inside information, but given how many times I saw you change your tune on Vita's E3 showing, I'm curious what the basis for this confidence is.

...actually, you're kinda contradicting yourself here. If you're so confident about the software lineup for a year and a half from now, why would you get worried just because there aren't many previously unannounced games on the show floor?

SCEE did a much better job of acting like they cared about Vita last year, but they only announced one new title for it, and that and one of the other two previously announced titles revealed there have yet to see release.

I'm still excited about the platform, thanks to it being region free. Japanese games will probably keep coming, even if only otaku ones, and that interests me.
But it's still sad to see it being ignored on E3.

I can boldly say that there is nothing else besides what was shown. I think Sony is predictable enough. I can see the vita not getting its own iterations of the remaining Sony IPs. Its a pity though. I don't think they would starve their cash cow (PS3) for the vita thats why games like GOW Ascension and GT6 are PS3 games. I bet Sony has moved Bend to console development too.

My question is that even if system is on the backburner in the west and it has sort of found a little niche in Japan and they do have Pantioception

Disappointed like crazy.

I expected greater support for it during the conference but if they just wanted to cut their losses I don't blame them.

Glad I bought my system used. Well I think I got some great value for it though as I have definitely gotten over 1500 hours of gaming on the system since I bought the system in September, and its been more than affordable for me because of PS+.

Only bought 3 titles for it, but I expected so much more at E3.

With the loss of this I don't expect a successor to the Vita at the end of the generation. And I'm honestly glad, because I didn't want another handheld with a backtouchpad. Almost as one where I don't want shoehorned 3D (atleast that one has great support though).

RIP in peace.

Is this a thing? Or already a meme after that #dead thread? Or is there just a lot of stupid about today?

I was expecting more Vita stuff, but I'm sure there will be a ton of indie stuff shown on the floor during E3 proper.

I am totally hyped for Dead Nation, even if it is a port (which I assume it will be). One of my favourite games this gen.
