• Hey Guest. Check out your NeoGAF Wrapped 2025 results here!

So what do we Vita owners have to look forward to this E3?

I think you'll find most fans just can't be bothered trying to discuss anything Vita related on GAF anymore. Five years of every thread being derailed with "Vita's dead!" or "lol Japan!" will eventually do that.

Yeah. I still use my Vita nearly every day, and it's still getting new games.
Don't care what others think about it. Vita 2k is a great system for people who appreciate good games on the go.

This thread reminded me that my Vita is collecting dust right now .. as is any other console I own (dad-problems).

So, what to expect from E3? Nothing. But my backlog is strong enough. Vita had a great run, longer than expected and I still love that little machine.

As someone that just sunk 35 hours into Operation Babyl, I'm constantly reminded of how damn comfy the Vita is for lazy Sunday gaming.

It'll probably be the only thing I bring in my carry-on for E3.

True lol but how hard would it have been to bump the resolution. Still looks like a PSP game, but I guess it's not that big of a deal. Would have been nice though and doesn't seem like it would even take much effort. Seems like they don't bother at all anymore.

I've never understood the demand for PSP up-ports on Vita. Happened with Peace Walker; happening with LocoRoco too.

I mean trophies is cool, but personally I'm happy playing the PSP versions

I see you, OP. I think there's a chance that we'll at least see something. It's not a bad idea to ask what we're going to see, funny though it may be. I bought a Vita last fall, knowing that it wasn't getting much else, and I'm super happy with it, but it would nice to look forward to one or two more titles. sadsmile.jpg

Confirmed
-------------

Danganronpa V3: The last hurrah for the Vita, I guess; I suppose the PS4 version will get all the push, but the Vita will still get some attention here.
13 Sentinels - Aegis Rim: Ahh yisss, mother. Fuckin. Vanillaware. Big fan of their stuff and can't wait to see this in action.

Likely
--------

PSN sale: I know people are saying that Sony won't bother, but I don't see why not. I figure that the Danganronpa games might go on sale to coincide with V3 previews. It'll all be stuff that most Vita owners already have, but there are still a couple of things that I would snatch up.
Musou Stars: This may actually be confirmed to appear, but I'm not sure. Doesn't interest me but some folks are into this.
A Certain Magical Virtual-On: Most random crossover in history. I'm actually curious about this.

Unlikely, but who knows
-----------------------------------

Uppers localization: Yeah, probably not going to happen, but there's a slim chance we'll see something about this.

This picture made me really sad for some reason rven though I do not own one haha :(

No "Vita is dead" drive-by posts please, just discussion and friendly speculation for E3.
Yeah you can't expect a Vita thread without shitposts nowadays man.

Even if we don't see many western releases at this point, which is a damn shame, there's still the import market and a huge library to work through. Between my Vita and PSTV, it's probably tied for my second most played system to this day. Wish it would get some solid E3 love, but I think we all know those days are long gone.

I'm looking forward to Tokyo Xanadu and Danganronpa 3 coming out later this year. It feels like gaf has proclaimed the Vita is dead for about 3 years now and every year it still has something new to show. Not sure if it'll come out of E3 but there's still life in the system.

No list, no life.

Two games are no list.

Got a new 64gb mem card.

Looking forward to more news about Danganronpa V3, the new Ys, and some new announcements for what could be the Vita's final hurrah before things wind down in 2018. Last game I played was Salt and Sanctuary and some PS1 classic that I haven't finished, now it's hungry for something new.

*High five*

I also got a 64GB card not too long ago (i only had a 4GB one since '14) and i'm still downloading PS+ games that i got a long time ago but never tried on it.If you combine that with my own games my Vita backlog gets insane. :p I'll be using my Vita for years.

As for e3 there's already confirmation that Atlus will show 13 Sentinels: Aegis Rim (also for PS4)
http://gematsu.com/2017/04/13-sentinels-aegis-rim-appear-e3-2017

Other than that i don't expect much if anything about Vita at this year's e3 but there are still lots of games on the horizon that i look forward to get at some point.
Here's a few:
Akiba's Beat
Deemo the last recital
God Wars
Tokyo Xanadu
Yamawari Midnight Shadows
Cladun Returns
Utawarerumono: Mask of Deception
Operation Babel: New Tokyo Legacy

No list, no life.

Two games are no list.
Best Buy has more upcoming physical Vita games than 3DS games, I think that's pretty good for a system that's been dropped by its first party.

As for me, I've personally buying:
Hakuoki: Kyoto Winds
GOD WARS Future Past
Mary Skelter: Nightmares
Utawarerumono: Mask of Deception
Utawarerumono: Mask of Truth
Ys VIII: Lacrimosa of Dana
Danganronpa V3: Killing Harmony
Tokyo Xanadu

Not to mention some still unannounced localizations that I'm really looking forward to

I saw the thread title and assumed it was just a very old thread that got bumped for some reason. I was shocked to see it was a recent thread.

Sony never really gave the Vita tons of support and hype at past E3s. So to expect it now, in 2017 ...I just feel sorry for the OP.

Does anyone know the benefits from Danganronpa 3 and ys 8 on the ps4 and vita because I'm thinking about going ps4 if there is clear benefits or might just stick with the vita for them.

I understand why some are saying VN's will start heading to Switch instead, but, the tit games are staying on Vita.

I've got plenty of game time out of my Vita and still another 200+ hours to go with games I've yet to play, while also being able to use it for remote play until it breaks. I'm clearly in the acceptance stage of Vita owner grief.

Ys VIII - lots of new content; shorter load times; better framerate. Probably worth it unless you really want to play portable (like me).

DanganRonpa - resolution bump, but otherwise I don't think there's much difference.

If you haven't noticed E3 isn't exactly the event to look forward to when it comes to Vita announcements lol (minus some very rare cases like WOFF).

PSX is when Dino Corgi delivers the goods.

Ignorance is bliss OP. I envy your optimism.

But hey, new Dreamcast games still get release so I guess we can expect some games for Vita in the near future. But anything from Sony or major announcements is completely out of the question.

Ok if we put all the Vita bashing jokes aside

We are still getting a lot of overseas content for the rest of this year

I just dont expect them to talk about it at E3

Expect the remainder of Vita software to come from Localizers and JP Companies

This may be the last year of content flow for the system though much like the 3DS

I already answered re: my expectations of what will be announced (e.g. Visual Novels) but a more important question, given the success - so far - of the Switch. Do you guys think Sony is considering getting back into the hand held market again?

What if there's a possibility that Sony somehow managed to cram PS4 tech within the form factor of a Nintendo Switch and advertise the PS4 exactly as the switch? I feel this could happen more than a true successor to the Vita, considering the current state of handheld gaming market and how it's largely dominated by smartphones right?

Yeah cuz $599 worked so well for them last time.

So Danganronpa on vita so I have the trilogy on one system and probably ys on the ps4. Might sway on ys because there's an appeal on playing anytime on a long jrpg on a handheld system.

Highly unlikely. Sony took a beating marketwise with PSP and PS Vita. Plus the Vita has old technology compared to the Switch. I think Sony won't try anytime soon, umless PSVR tanks and they go al in for a Switch like console in the next gen wars

The impressions I've read of Ys on Vita are that it's still a very good version that's a lot of fun to play, but the PS4 release is effectively a "plus" version with a lot of extra changes plus it makes use of the PS4's power.

For me, the appeal of having Ys Origin - IV + VII + VIII on one system makes it an easy choice :P

Forgive the lack of knowledge but I've only played the one on vita. Celceta I think. Are the listed games you said in regards to the ps4 or vita. Slowly becoming a fan of adol and his amneisac adventures.

How many of those make it to store shelves? Every Best Buy in my area has like 3 Vita games and a handful of uses. The 3DS section is still healthy because Nintendo has actual hardware to sell.

Almost none, but who cares? They aren't going to sell many more Vita's and people who do own them and use them probably do know how to order online or how to buy games via PSN.

Fact is, Vita is still getting a lot of games.

I expect some turn-based JRPGs together with PS4 version of course but turn-based Strategy I end buying on Vita.

There are a lot of games to be released on Vita.

I expect Phil Spencer to wear a shirt with a picture of a VITA on it, and the word "LIFE" underneath, this year @ E3.
