So where's the next gen kids games?

I played RTS, racing games and GTA as a kid (8-12). I feel people often underestimate kid's understanding/learning abilities.
Yeah I had my 11 year old cousin come over today and he wouldn't stop talking about how awesome Watch_Dogs looks.

I think OP is actually asking for an even younger age group though.

Why just next Gen? I think there werent many "kids" games on this Gen either. If one compares it to the last 6-7 Years, its a little amount of "kids" games that came out over the years. I'd like to see more Puzzle, Action adventure games (Zelda style, not some adult themed like Darksiders °-°), plattformers, jump'n'runs. Maybe i just miss the games of my youth. More Games on Disc please.

Sony doesn't care about targeting kids with their devices until the end of the gen when they already own other devices.

There were plenty of platformers this generation.

Those come when a price drop comes - no parent will buy these things for Under 12's at launch

Um, yeah they do. Kids get expensive clothes and tablets all the time.

I mean, people buy a $150 pair of nike shoes for a kid who will grow out of them in a few months.

They're not going to promote shovelware at E3.

Being a kids game doesn't automatically make it shovelware. They could have got a deal with Activision or Disney to get some nice exclusives in their figure games if they wanted to or invested in one IP for children.

except 99% of the time a kids game is going to be shovelware, twice so when its a movie/book tie-in

If the child is into racing, you cannot beat Forza 5 if you do not mind getting the XBOX One. There are plenty of driving handicaps and cars are always fun to race. Sadly I am not sure if the social network aspect of DriveClub on PS4 would be age aproperiate with playing with adults online unless you supervise the child by being an observer.

I dunno, I'd imagine most kids would prefer Need For Speed.

Besides Knack, I think Kingdom Hearts 3 is another big budget game that's going to appeal to younger audiences (as well as older audiences of course).

I think it's important to remember that games such as Call of Duty and Assassins Creed are as equally appealing to younger audiences as they are to older audiences. The product's color palette doesn't dictate the audience that the product will appeal to.

Ugh, we need more quality games with non-human characters. Whatever happened to AAA titles like Sly, Ratchet, Banjo, etc.? Is Nintendo the only place to go for this?

If the child has taste, they will warm up to Jeremy Clarkson and friends.

Besides if Top Gear was around when I was under 12, I would learn a lot more about cars and Top Gear would be the talk of the playground.

Microsoft the official console for kids.

Fantasia music evolved

Zoo Tycoon

Project Spark

Kinect Sports

4 exclusives for you child to enjoy at launch.
Fantasia is 2014, Zoo Tycoon isn't dated, and Project Spark is 'launch window', aka 2014, nor is it an exclusive as it is on PC too.

So looks like you're left with Kinect Sports Rivals to play at launch.

Zoo Tycoon is on 360 too.

A new Ratchet released last year, and a new Sly released this year. Both basically bombed. There's a reason no-one is making 3D platformers on non-Nintendo platforms, and no-one's daft enough to compete with Nintendo themselves on their own platforms.

Gave my 6 year old my 360 and he has a 3ds. Debating the wii u. We had a wii but I sold it as it collected dust.
