Heh, they might as well just cancel the game now if it isn't a name change.
LOL, awesome.
LOL, awesome.
Well is stupei going to get unbanned or what?
Sony should sell the IP to EA or Activision.
Ryan Davis's tweet in reply to Kohler is pretty funny:

@kobunheat yeah, that's probably not a giant lie, coz Sony!
I do firmly believe that the game is still in development, but it's true that they would probably say that no matter what the situation.
You should though.
Opinions are nice to have.
Someone else actually said this, right? :lol
This picture is so full of life, Trico really seems to be a living creature, looking and admiring his creator.
She was banned for referencing some comments made by Ueda about the protagonist of the Last Guardian. To the less-informed it could have been misconstrued as a sexist joke. Regardless, it's negated by the aforementioned comments and the fact she's a woman.
But yeah. Someone should totally buy the trademark.
This game is pretty much guaranteed dead. Even if they are changing the name, it doesn't make any sense to abandon the previous trademark unless things are going seriously wrong somewhere at Sony.
The GIF now in the OP is fantastic.
Where is the link of Sony saying the game is still in development?
Someone must add the link in the OP.
If Sony wanted to strategically wait to announce it's cancellation, they'd have renewed the trademark so the discussion didn't even come up.So Sony says it's still in development. They would perhaps say something like that anyway to postpone an outroar? Hmm?
Why change the name?

USPTO.gov snapshot:
Got the news from a banned website.
They wouldn't admit they lied, they'd lie about it more.
If they announced it was cancelled in three months, they wouldn't say it'd been cancelled for six months, they'd just say it had only just been cancelled.
Rumors are worthless. They wouldn't have any impact on their reputation long term, or even short term outside of a few pissed off gaffers. But nobody would buy it after all the prior news of cancellations. They would call obvious bullshit and say they arent fooling anybody.
Didn't they move some of the Santa Monica studio staff to the project? Something like that would suggest to me that they really want to get past the technical hurdles they've been facing and finish the game.

We let The Last Guardian trademark expire as we have a new name that’s more fitting considering how long it is taking to make: The Last Game
Sony is digging a gigantic hole for themselves if this game is indeed canceled. All the confirmations that its still in development after news that it isnt would lead to a drop in credibility that would put them in negative levels.
So they damn well better be releasing this game.
