A 30-minute Nintendo Direct doesn't seem so short in comparison to this.
Imagine thinking.... that they showed trailers of games, one after another. What did the conference bring that a YouTube playlist wouldn't (aside from that you could see the full picture that way)?
You're missing that the conference is a spectacle, an event. It's not just hitting "play" on a stack of trailers, or at least it shouldn't be. The score is not for the games. It's for the 60-minute event. There are some E3 shows that get replayed for years after (for good or bad reasons). This is not one of them.
Looks like The Last of Us little brother.. not that's a bad thing...

I'll address two points:
I don't think their exclusives looked terrific. I think Days Gone looks bland. Nothing in that demo interested me about the game. Detroit didn't look that interesting to me either. The DLC stuff is fine, but both DLC add-ons didn't do much for me, personally.
Microsoft had some stuff that will show up on PC (Sony did too, to be fair, CoD, Destiny, MH is a multiplat and that was far and away the most interesting announcement for me), but they showed a chunk of things that wouldn't show up on PS4. Crackdown 3, Cuphead, and Sea of Thieves come to mind. I think there are a couple others, but I don't remember. I get that they have exclusive content for some of that multiplat stuff, but they are still multiplats.
I honestly thought both MS and Sony's press conference was a letdown for me. Spiderman looked cool visually, but I'll wait for more game play because I wasn't sold in that regard. GoW looked pretty cool too, I think that was easily the highlight of the conference for me.

I agree the Sony games are much better...but that doesn't make the show any better. It was just lackluster unfortunately and disappointing.

It was a decent show... I guess but I think people were expecting a new exclusive game that wasn't VR, like sucker punch or something. I guess if you add the pre show and this together it wasn't all bad, but man I guess I over hyped my self up this E3. Like I said before after their last E3 I was just expecting more, but I guess they all can't be good.
Original xbox bc was wow and even if they were multiplats, they did show great games and gameplay. Something i missed at Sony's conference was NEW stuff.
No, I'm happy that Ill get to play those games on PC, but in terms of exclusives God of War and Spiderman blows anything on that list out the water.
Spiderman looks cool but so many QTE's, I want games to evolve from that.

I really don't see what people see in that game, it looked generic as fuck. I still want to see something like you getting resources and defenses for your fortification.

Like literally everyone who played Playroom VR came away wanting Rescue Robots to be a full length thing and from what I can see Moss is quite possibly that thing. So thats a winner in my book. Im curious to see more. Perhaps Sony can crack this whole VR trailers thing that has thus far eluded them.

A solid 8.5/10 conference for me. Way too short. And certainly not good enough to get rid of the feeling that this is an underwhelming E3.
Sony needed the Sucker Punch announcement. God of War & Spiderman looked fantastic. SotC was legit a fucking megaton for me. The VR segment was 1 game too long. They should've made some of the pre-show in the main conference itself.
Definitely much weaker than past years, but still my favorite conference in a sea of weak conferences. Hopefully Nintendo changes that tomorrow.

Yeah, they didn't announce Horizon DLC, Moss, SOTC remake, Monster Hunter, release dates etc. LOL It's fine to say it was underwhelming but this is pure hyperbole.

i get they had to show they were serious with VR but the VR segment was the boner/momentum killer imo, i wonder if it would have been better mixing some VR in the pre-show with the main one

But what you can really see is one problem with modern AAA titles: freakishly long development times.
Since games take longer and longer to make it gets kinda hard to surprise people several times a year with E3, TGS and whatever.
Most other games they could have shown are probably too far of, and this would have been disappointing as well.
Sure most of the games they showed right now had a 2018 sticker, but what would have happened if they were 2019 games? We'd have the same situation next year.
It's kind of a bummer that there weren't any real surprises (apart from Shadow of the Colossus, which is awesome!) but it was still a solid conference.

Good conference, not great. As a PSVR owner, I really appreciated them dedicating time to it. Loved Spider Man and loved God of War. U charted looks great, as always, and I'm getting more and more impressed by Days Gone.

Totally boring and lots of games shown from last year and again without release dates. Microsoft easily had a better conference , Ubi has had the best (total shock) and I doubt Nintendo will have anything truly great.

People can say that it's only gaffers with unrealistic expectations that didn't like the show but the crowd looked bored during the show and just sort of stunned and not sure what to do when it was over.
