The biggest surprise is no PS4 Pro price drop. That $499 Xbox One X price probably won't be as shocking to the average consumer now I'd guess.
The only thing surprising would be if they dropped the price at E3. That would make absolutely no sense.

You've been keeping up with the news regarding FFVII, right?
I mean they haven't even hired people to make it yet...
I'll say this. Someone brought up a great point.
This conference would have been perfect in a Nintendo Direct format.
Preshow was a dumb idea. Whoever thought that was a good idea even if it's someone at the top needs to get stern criticism. There was zero upside to the preshow while it actively took away from their conference by showing shit that should have just been in the show.
- Hey, why don't we announce Dissidia Final Fantasy during the conference?
- That's not good enough.
- What about the fishing VR game from FF XV?
- DO IT
It was rock bottom? Lmao
You didn't think it was interesting to see games like metro being unveiled? And all the other stuff like Black desert, Playerunknown's game, cuphead, ori, anthem or all the indie games? I don't care that these are 3rd party games, they add to the conference's entertainment level as a whole. To call it rock bottom is just hilarious to me and it kinda reeks of fanboyism and hate towards ms/ xbox.
Not arguing on the lack of MS 1st party announcements, they should've stepped up and so should sony have this year.
Y'all are witnessing the harsh realities of the AAA contraction my boy da Prophet Mark Rein talked about ages ago.
Sony's bread and butter may be polished, cinematic SP games, but they're AAA and expensive and can't be pumped out quickly.
If you think PS5 will somehow remedy this ...
... I have some bad news.
I think they did well by PSVR owners by dedicated a nice portion of the conference to VR games.
I feel like this is the conference where Sony's early announcements came back to bite them in the ass. They've shown so many games 2-3 years in advance that now that the gen seems to be winding down, they don't have much left up their sleeve. GOW, Spiderman, and Days Gone didn't need to be announced last year, Last of Us 2 didn't need to be at PSX... But they announced them then because well, what else would they have announced that wasn't already? Also surprised there wasn't more third-party stuff to make up for it.
Maybe this was an off-year and they're going to gear up for shorter announcement windows in the future, I dunno. But uh, as far as a look into the near future goes, that was pretty myopic.
They really hung fake bodies from the ceiling, didn't they
Weird conference. Like watching an audience in a movie theater watch trailers. I get the minimum talk approach but a bit of developer humanity on stage can go a long way towards demos leaving an impression.

You know what is worse than the conferences this year? Crapcom.
They announced a bland MH spin off, but not DMC5.
What is wrong with this company?
LMFAO!!

Lol they can't win.
They talk on stage and it pisses people off. They get off stage and it's not human enough.
They should have just moved some of thier big pre show annocments over to the main show and there would have been a big boost. Relagting fucking GT and crash to the preshow was a mistake.
Does Sony have any first party games this fall? Or major exclusives? Spider-Man is next year, right?
OT
But is your avatar from a movie/tv show?
Lol they can't win.

How would Ubisoft win? The Mario Rabbids game was cool. Yet another AC game. Beyond Good and Evil 2 is god knows how far out from release. Just don't see how they would be considered the best conference?
The conference was really great. All the games shown look like heaps of fun aside from the VR stuff. Plus, we still have PSX which makes up for the lack of big surprises. Overall 2017 will be packed with some fun exclusives which is all I can ask for.
