Sony E3 2017 Conference Thread [Over]

Now that uou mention it...is [WiLD] cancelled?

I think Sony is likely to cancel their support as publisher....I doubt that they are making their milestones, if they have nothing to show at E3. Anciel looks to have moved on to BG&E2. Outlook is not so good for WiLD, but we shall see.

This.

Tastes aside (i'm one of those that are still not sold on Days Gone),. I found the order at which they presented the games a bit baffling.

i agree...the preshow content should have been rearranged with the actual show content

I really thought this was going to be the year where legacy of kain comes back, I had no reason to believe that but... I felt it in my heart. God damn it! It was a good presentation but no real surprises other than the remake of Shadow. Other then devolver this e3 felt pretty underwhelming.

This conference is what happens when you announce all your games five years out... Eventually you hit the moment when you have nothing to announce

Plus everyone wants new games announcements every year and it's not possible.

Not to mention the crazy crowd thinking that from is gonna announce some BB2, and ND to show TLOU2 they said it was early but usually you have a few fools screaming believe lol.

This Sony E3 showing really makes me convinced that PS5 is coming sometime before the end of 2019. They just had very little to say, and honestly, not much new content to show. Monster Hunter (multi-platform) and Shadow of the Colossus (remake) were the only things that surprised me.

I just get the feeling they are going through the motions this E3 and plan to announce the PS5 next E3. You can say it's too early but you know that Sony isn't happy that the XB 1 X is more powerful than the Pro and if they start losing multi-platform sales to it they have to respond.

This could very well be the most forgettable E3 yet. 5 years or so from now, I doubt anyone will be able to recall anything from this year's show.

Ultimately I'm ok with a subpar conference, now that I've watched 1440p footage of the SOTC remake. It's cracking my head. I can't believe we're getting the fully technologically realized version of that game, with the art style and animation (seemingly) completely in tact.

Weird conference though - the lack of talking and abundant footage of an indifferent crowd was really emotionally confusing.

Why did Sony let Squaresoft dump their Kingdom Hearts 3 trailer as a random and sudden web debut? I think reactions to their conference would have been at least slightly better if KH3 were on display.

That'll depend if America and the UK still care about the Most Powerful Console Ever Made.

Can u do me a favor because You broke my heart. Do u know what the rumored setting is because if it's Mayan which people want I will literally way all the years for that because that would be so rad :)
Out of the single ARPG I know about i can tell you its not mayan. I can't tell you what it is, but its not that.

Is this something is going to keep getting repeatedly said because some didn't like their press conference? PS5 is not getting announced next year.

They basically didn't show as many games, but spent a longer time with each game they did show.

If we include the preshow stuff, this was easily an A conference.

Just the conference alone and it goes down to a C+/B- minus though.

Nah they show a ton of games.

All the games show at the conference and preshow:

PS4:
God of War
Knack 2
Uncharted: The Lost Legacy
Horizon Zero Dawn: The Frozen Wilds DLC
Detroit: Become Human
SpiderMan
Days Gone
Shadow of the Colossus*New*
Monster Hunter: World*New*
GT Sport
Everybody's Golf
Destiny 2
Crash Bandicoot
Matterfall
Tropico 6 *New*
Undertale *New*
Hidden Agenda *New*
Ni no Kuni II
Knowledge is Power*New*

PSVR:
The Inpatient *New*
Skyrim VR*New*
Moss*New*
Bravo Team*New*
SUPERHOT VR*New*
Star Child*New*
SPARC*New*

Why is Sony not releasing Spider Man and Detroit Become Human this year

When we have Spider Man and Detroit movies this year
Dude look at this Fall and it's 3rd party games, better to delay those games on purpose than to send them out on a minefield. Sony now tends to focus on Q1/Q2 for their first party games.

Aight that's fine that's fine they still easily make my favorite action games so I will play it whatever it is, but if I'm going to go crazy then I would love if they just said fuck if and went with like a really cartoonish look but it's still hard as hell.

Like u go through a deserted toon town with fire hydrants attacking u and stuff. Then u make it to sunshine forest and while your fighting normal enemies the sun is bouncing to the beat. But then the sun goes away and the moon come out. It starts chanting then all this trees surround u and start chanting to. Then the moon grows legs and u have to fight it while dodging its notes of song.

Damn that will never habben but would be unbelievable

Well they are working several projects and I expected maybe a little teaser.

I was just expecting some kind of leak like Project Beast considering how many people were talking about FROM being at the conference and a Bloodborne 2 possibly being announced.

Thinking back on all the conferences I think a big reason I'm finding it all so underwhelming is there's been no massive surprises outside of Ubi, SoTC would've been one, but I figured out it'll be Bluepoints's Project after the trademark was news. I don't think anyone outside of Bethesda and EA has had a bad conference either, just all missing one huge announcement to really make you get excited and put them on another level. I really doubt Nintendo will be different either.

Also why I thought Sony's pre-show was better, had legit really nice surprises I didn't see coming.

So what games are you guys planning to get based on the pre-show + E3 conference? Mine are:

1. Ni no Kuni II
2. Undertale (Vita version)
3. Detroit: Become Human
4. Shadow of the Colossus Remake

MH World

All of the above im very excited for.

Gaf creates artificial hype in their minds and then claim to be disappointed.. some were expecting REmake2 trailer.. a logical person would think "gee.. Capcom hasn't even released all re7 dlc" but that's just me idk.

The reality is people want new world premieres.. but get annoyed when said game is at least 3 years away.

And to get that back, they need to drop PSX, which fans will then complain about.

Remove PSX2016 announcements from the mix and we'd have an e3 with

Uncharted: The Lost Legacy - Releasing in 3 months
Marvel Vs Capcom Infinite - Releasing in 4 months, Demo today
Crash N Sane trilogy - Either Releasing this month or available today
Knack 2 - Releasing in 4 months
Yakuza Kiwami - Releasing in 3 months
Yakuza 6 - Coming to the west
Horizon Zero Dawn DLC - Coming Soon
Monster Hunter - Early 2018

A lot of games, revealed and releasing soon, but then people wouldn't get their dopamine in December.

Dear Sony:

The purely theatrical format is not working. You've gone a bit too far.

Not allowing at least a couple of key developers to come out and hype their games and get their fans excited is a mistake. There is a balance between letting them talk too much, and not at all.

Also: BIG mistake in just letting a trailer run without knowing the game first for every single title. The audience just didn't get hyped, they were very subdued, and it's for this very reason.

Sure, the 'hiding of the title' until the trailer is done can be impactful, but that should be held in reserve for the HUGE games that are well kept secrets. There's a balance - do it for some, but not all. You're not letting the audience get hyped for the entire trailer because they aren't sure what they are seeing until it's over.

Really quite liked the format of this show. I'm not sure they got the order right, though.

Not as bombastic as recent years, but Spiderman, GoW, Uncharted and SotC make it a good show for me.

I thought the pre-show was pretty good idea, got some decent visibility to smaller titles that would have otherwise missed the whole show.

Pretty wide range of thing shown... what are games you want to play?

Not saying there aren't any good games, it's just that none of those appeal to me. I shouldn't be expecting a From Software game, but they skipped E3 last year. I thought that have something to show this year.

1. God of War (was getting anyway, but that was by far my favourite trailer of E3)
2.. Spider-Man (was getting anyway too)
3. MonHun Worlds
4. Undertale
5. Ni No Kuni 2
6. Detroit
7. SoTC Remake.
Uncharted Lost Legacy too, but I didn't watch it's trailer, so won't count it.

A C grade conference for me at best. They had games and showed quite some of them but almost none interest me. SotC remake and Monster Hunter world is noce bit that's it.
This seems to be more of a transitional year for sony this time and I'm ok with that.
But I didn't think that Ubisoft already did beat two of the big ones this time, really surprised.

It was a good idea! I liked it.

Only part for me that blew it was the host. I found him a little off.

Also, the interview with Cerny - sigh. I really dislike these interviews where it's quite obvious the people aren't even in the same room when the interview happens. It's so incredibly fake.

They like new stuff, but no one wants to see "coming in two or three years" on the screen.

We saw almost no Japanese games, even though I'm sure there are some interesting titles coming in the next year or two. It felt like a PS3-era keynote to me.

That's a bit literal which I don't think they do, they just show games that are far off without a date.
We still got PSX so I ain't worried, a less stellar show had to happen at some point (because of showing games too soon).
Regarding almost no Japanese games, that bummed me out a bit as Shawn said other wise to Times.

I cant believe how unreasonable some of you are being, they just crap out new games like that.

Alot of their devs now either release a game or working on a new one thats already announced.

I very much liked the pre-show as a space for unannounced ports (SuperhotVR, Undertale) and games that we already knew were coming but don't really need stage time (Ni No Kuni 2, Gran Turismo Sport). There's really no need to take up time during the main conference for stuff like this.

I think I'm in the minority here though.

Unannounced stuff like the cell phone-compatible games probably should have been on the main stage, even if they aren't heavy hitters.

Honestly, I wouldn't mind at least a few speakers on stage. Especially if it were say someone from Insomniac or Santa Monica dropping a few details on their game. I liked what Microsoft did where it was like 4-5 trailers and then a speaker to help segment the show slightly better. But this is nit-picky as hell.

If my math is correct Sony thus far ordered 480 million of 1Gb GDDR5 sticks (60m PS4 sold, 8x1Gb in each).
They seem to use mainly memory from Samsung (beside PS3's memory from Elpida), according to Samsung's roadmap GDDR6 production will start next year.
That's not enough time I think to mass produce enough chips and I don't think they are going to be sticking with GDDR5.

Plus a lot of other factors that I've been looking into doesn't add up for 2018 as much as I'd love it to be so.

I must say some are down on this E3 but throughout MS and Sony's Press I saw tons of games I want to play Great E3 from both in my eyes

i agree...the preshow content should have been rearranged with the actual show content

Yup, they easily could have beefed up the conference and rearranged the content for a rising arc of hype.

The combination of both is really loaded with games and release dates.

It's true that given how flooded with content PSX was that they probably should have saved TLoU2 for this conference to end it on a true surprise.
