Sony Knows

Man, if PS4 gets PS2 BC, I'll be ecstatic. Ive ahead expected folders, library modification, and the obvious improvements to come eventually, but seeing PS2 compatibility on the same level of potentially-happening as PS1 is pretty huge.

I'll actually buy digital PS1/2 titles if this happens, so it's in Sony's interest to do so.

Sony's well aware that all of those should be added. They are sending surveys because they won't be able to work on all of them during this gen.

;)

I just don't understand why they'd need a survey to understand that some basic stuff would make everyone happier, such as: "Notifications when friends come online", "Download avatars on PS4", "Appear offline" and "Change PSN ID".

Those are things that people are requesting for a loooong time, and they're pretty basic and well known to even need to show up in a survey.

Folders and removing unused icons are my top two, but all of these (mostly) look great. If they add PS2 BC, my local game store is going see some serious new business.

If they could implement some of these into the next update, it would be the best update yet. Adding more social and sharing features is not a big deal for some of us. And stickers? No.

They clearly have a more or less working software emulator for the PS2 (see: PS2 classics on PS3), and the PS4 should have no trouble running it, given some time. That said, my suspicion is that this will be compatibility with those PS2 classics releases, and not disc-based compatibility. There's unfortunately quite a bit of money to be made in selling people's PS2 favorites to them a second time.

Would love Sony to prove me wrong, of course!

All of them! Is that being greedy?

Can somebody explain the desire for the ability to change their PSN ID and why it's the #1 request? I don't get it.

People don't want the same username that they picked ten years ago (as in, a person will change a lot from the age of, say, 15 to 25)?

What's to get?

Thanks for letting me know. Going to answer later.

I have my PSN mails filtered and check them only once every one~two weeks. There was such an email for JP PSN since ~5 days ago.

Personal Example: Offensive ID = Ban = Lose all achievements and everything in GTA Online.

Also, nobody wants to be XX_SniperLeet_XX or whatever dumb name forever.

What annoys me is that literally 75% of those would be wanted by everyone and would probably take a developer about ten minutes to program and we've been asking for them from the PS4 launch.

Probs been too busy thinking about what remasters to make instead.

Damn bluepoint ruining everything.

Serious market researcher response - there are three possibilities here:

  • They might be removing what we call 'straight-liners' from their responses, in which case this means your response will get thrown out. Hopefully not, though; I think this is a legit response to this question.
  • They could just be using this question to rank-order prioritize what they're going to work on, in which case this response effectively won't change anything.
  • They could be looking to prioritize every item that hits above a certain %, in which case you might be helping some of the less-popular options see the light of day.

This is all an over-simplification, because they're going to be taking difficulty into account, too; implementing PS2 classics is probably way more difficult than adding an option to hide library items. At worst, you're probably not hurting anything, though!

like...not being able to change your PSN is baffling

dudes out there having XxXEliteSniper69XxX as a name still because they thought it would be cool and people would be jealous during the CoD4 era of them are now burning on the inside

no that's not my username lol

I imagine it's to help them prioritize the order in which they work on them.

All of this stuff + making the PS4 OS as snappy / fast online as it is offline would literally make it into a perfect video game console OS. Maybe putting Spotify and Media Player into the TV and Video section (and renaming it to "Apps")

Sony if you don't implement all of these features by summer 2016 i'm going to sell my PS4, you have been warned

probably not

PS1/PS2 classics is not a must for me but for the remaining there is an immediate need. PS4 is terrific however it lacks some basic features as those. And for the survey, i can say that it was known that PS2 classics will be added ( can not find the source but some people streamed ps2 game siren which means, if it was not fake, they are trying to establish the feature). Also, wishlist thing has come to the desktop version of the ps store. All i say is that, those features are coming already, sony is just playing to the audience by showing that they listen to their customers (look we asked you for what you want and here it is). I just wonder those are really basic features why in the first place they weren't implemented. I mean some of those were available on ps3 when it was released. Instead of asking us the features, even they used the ps4 for several hours they would easily point out these missing features.

Hmmmm... no increased cloud save storage on there, probably the only thing I'm really bothered by right now.
They did increase cloud storage. Or is it still not enough for some?

I would like all of those minus the store wishlist, though it wouldn't be a bad idea to add it in there eventually.
Apparently, they snuck that in there in the 3.10 update. Which makes you wonder how much of this list is close to being released.

Offline, psn Id and both ps1 and ps2 classics for me personally. The fact they're all mentioned gives hope we will get them all eventually.

I feel like ticking all the boxes would be counter productive. Sony is looking to prioritize working on some features over others probably, even though we want all of them. So some features get worked on first before other depending on what you tick. It would be better to select the options you most want instead of just all of them. I personally don't care for changing psn id but would love custom backgrounds like the ps3 had.

A lot of these things should be there already but it will be nice to finally get them, I know the change id and location has irked myself and friends for a long time
