Sony Knows

Does Sony not understand how much money they could make with a name change feature? It could literally pay for more media bias...

Then perhaps they should of thought it out more thoroughly when creating this network. I'm looking through this thread with the wish lists from everyone and I'm thinking to myself, it's over half way 2015 and these are standard features on other networks but not PSN.

Considering they now charge for the service in terms of multiplayer, they should get their act together.

I agree it needs to be there and their network is dumb and outdated, but it's not "free money" like many are saying.

True but I feel they didn't really take online seriously till deep into the PS3 era, with nice additions such as trophies, avatars and so on. I lost count how many times people asked for cross game chat and in a way they dug a hole for themselves with the whole "we are free" routine.

PSN on PS4 is better but I still think a little revamp was needed to go along with the launch of the system with basic features people take for granted on other services, still aren't here. I hope they get things sorted soon.

How many ppl have actually received this survey? You might have a point if this was an open survey as the backlash would outweigh the gain, but to most if not everybody in this thread apart from the OP it's all hear-say.

Not that I think this is all PR but I'm certainly open to the possibility especially one who is as good at it as Sony.
 
I don't understand why friend notifications are something that is still not implemented. This should be a pretty basic feature and is pretty annoying that it's not already there.

If the people who did PSN's database are as incompetent as the hack and what came out of it suggests, it's very possible that the reason why you can't change your username is that it's used as the primary key in every database table. I mean, even the most terribly-designed databases I've ever seen have used integers or guids for that, but you never know. If that's true, though, then implementing that feature would require some major changes to some pretty massive tables.

Why don't you take a break, go for a walk outside, a swim in the ocean, enjoy a night with some friends, etc...anything that can ground you to reality.

I know it isn't exactly a PSN feature, but external hdd support is what I want more than anything. Then classics, then custom background music, and then probably the name change feature.

Seriously, it's the future and I can't even hear Gone when I turn on my PlayStation. Unacceptable.

Sony let a "westerner" design the ps4 hardware. Perhaps they should of let one their western branches handle the ps4 firmware updates.

I think what they mean is the ability to upload and use your own avatars. You can already change your avatar to any from their system/store + from facebook, but I don't know who can actually see your facebook avatar besides yourself.

No, I think they mean the simple act of choosing avatars you've purchased without having to use a PS3. It's a ridiculous oversight.
 
All I want is solid confirmatiin of when things will be implemented. Even just an arbitrary 'Early 2017' would be enough for me. Might not be happy about it but at least I'd know.
 
See this goes along with my theory of 3.0 being some sort of stress test for the communities feature. The beta was to verify if would brick systems. If all goes according to plan, we'll see 4.0 at PSE. BTW, why would you list literally every wanted feature in a survey

Having your baseline be "it's PR and we're getting nothing, this is just to give us hope", is crazy. Especially when we already got wishlists off that list.

Obviously it's unlikely we'll get them all. But if your first thought is that they put this survey out to 'trick' or 'fool' us, you really need to take a step back from your computer. It's wildly paranoid, pessimistic, and illogical.

Not to say that they shouldn't or won't do it, but that's a pretty big reason to be fearful, especially when you have tens of millions of daily users and purchases.

What a shame if true, such a huge install base and they can't hire a team that is capable of providing basic features. Hard for consoles to remain competitive this way.

There are risks anytime you change code. It just requires sufficient planning, testing, and a way to recover. They don't need to change the keys. Leave that alone. They need to add aliases.

They did that with the PS4, but in the worst way possible with the real name system lol

The problem is also that all current games are made to display your actual PSN username and aliases wouldn't change that
 
I got to change my PSN name. In doing so I lost all if my trophies and friends list. And my name still appears as my old name with certain games. Frickin stupid.

I have a feeling this will be difficult for them to pull off.

As time passes more and more people will get frustrated. I don't see what's baffling about that.
 
Change PSN id should allow re-claiming of the nickname that is let-go, so that I can claim hesido on my primary account once again, not the U.S. account that is a sub account of my wifes account, dammit.

Stick your music on a USB stick and you can play any music you want while playing. Google the needed folder structure. This has been there since last year.

Or fire up the Spotify app and you can also play for free with ads or paid no ads anything you want while gaming, provided it's on Spotify. This has playlists.
