KZ2 was fantastic cause of its multiplayer and decent campaign.
Resistance 3 had a fantastic campaign but a bugfest mp at launch.
You should play one of them.
You should stop calling games you haven't played shite.
I think extending the deal is a no brainier, those games make money and are well received. They've extend the PixelJunk crap a lot.
As for having been given free reign, no idea if they'd get that elsewhere, but I'm surprised how long Sony have allowed them to delay Journey, it was meant to be out last summer.
It basically boils down to the install base. When you look at Xbox's install base last gen, it would have been pointless for Microsoft to even go after these games. The situation is completely different now with the Xbox 360, as the third-party developers cannot ignore the platform. Sony already mentioned earlier that they won't go after third-party games, and would rather prefer to build their first-party portfolio.Maybe Devil May Cry... but I hardly believe Final Fantasy and Tekken (especially when Sony helped develop the hardware for the arcade versions) were going to be on 360 without MS moneyhats.
EDIT: And there was no competition because microsoft didn't aggressively reach out to 3rd parties like they did this generation. Sony should have stepped up and tried to win them back.
I can't for the life of me understand why anyone needs or wants a Killzone 4, Resistance 4, God of War 4, Motorstorm 4, Uncharted 4, Infamous 3. They didn't lead to success for Sony now, so why would they in the future?
What the hell are you talking about?
Why anyone needs them? Because they are great games and every game sold ~5 Mio. copies.
Also is there deal with Insomniac over? Great. They seemed like a waste of money for most of this generation.
I don't play online, and can't say I'm really interested in modern FPS games, to be honest. I enjoyed Duke Nukem Forever, but that's about it. I lean more towards old FPS games like Duke 3D, Rise of the Triad, Blood and that kind of thing, and that style of FPS games is pretty much dead nowadays besides Serious Sam 3, which I haven't had the chance to play yet.
It's a console FPS and not Medievil 3, so it's shite by definition
Resistance 3 is kinda old fps with health packs and a lot of different weapons you can carry with,
It seems they already shipped their first game: Metal Gear Solid HD Collection. They're currently working on a game for Capcom as well. I'm not aware that there's a deal with Sony, nor do they seem to be in any way Sony exclusive.Armature is the former Retro guys right? Interested in seeing what they're working on. Wonder how big that studio is now and how far along they are.
Sony's stable has always been phenomenal, but it seems like there's almost too many of them, even many of the great ones see only modest success. I don't know if it's Sony's inept marketing or what. It's annoying for me as a fan of studios like Bend to see their titles not sell while fucking Assassin's Creed moves millions.
They've also got a ton of great dead IPs. Colony Wars :_-(
Nah, it did better than the first and sold nearly 4 Mio. copies worldwide now (if I remember correctly. Tried to find a link, but couldn't :-/ )Didn't inFamous 2 sell.. not all that great?
What did they do on MGS HD?It seems they already shipped their first game: Metal Gear Solid HD Collection. They're currently working on a game for Capcom as well. I'm not aware that there's a deal with Sony, nor do they seem to be in any way Sony exclusive.

Can you circle strafe enemies like in, say, Duke 3D? And do you have to rely on taking cover during firefights?

I can't find any platform references on any profile anymore - except for "multi platform".They aren't Sony exclusive - but they are working on PS3 and Vita projects. I believe the Capcom project was canned and the only projects appearing in CV's as works in progress are the PlayStation projects.
it's an investment, we need to understand that they will get better as time goes by or they will get shuttered, however talent and quality aren't the only things that make a game have success.
Sony is creating an ecosystem from which they get the exclusive content in-house, motivated by the death of 3rd party exclusives, is a strategy that they have short term and long term goals. I'm more optimistic for them to achieve the level of quality and sucess with most of the studios, as they produce more games and get better insight of the market they are catering to.

How did I miss that? Anyway, the games they did so far aren't exactly mind-blowing, all they did was helping out on ports (Halo and MGS). Not sure what to expect from them.Linky.
That PSN project could be for PS3, Vita or PlayStation Suite. Given that they could have just mentioned Vita instead, I think its likely that this is a PS3 PSN game.
Maybe its a PSN-Vita cross compatible game, like Ruin.

When you consider that the studio contains a lot of former Retro Studios employees (and by a lot I mean. . .a lot), I think something great could come out of it. I'm sure someone has better stats than I as to the make-up of the development team.
I feel like this is bullshit. Can anyone verify this?Nah, it did better than the first and sold nearly 4 Mio. copies worldwide now (if I remember correctly. Tried to find a link, but couldn't :-/ )
How many and who ? Or is this just an assumption because it was started by two former Retro/NOA employees.
Well if we count bundles and pack-ins, that could be true.I feel like this is bullshit. Can anyone verify this?
Ah, didn't consider that. Maybe it did.Well if we count bundles and pack-ins, that could be true.
Linkedin lists six former Retro guys working at Armature. How many and who ? Or is this just an assumption because it was started by two former Retro/NOA employees.
I believe a few ex-Retro guys actually work at BluePoint, the people who did MGS HD and some of the other HD collections. If I remember correctly, there has been a massive exodus from Armature Studios. Nirolak made an informative post about just how many scarpered. A lot of those chaps are at Armature if my memory is correct. Again, I'm sure someone else is more knowledgeable than I on this issue.

What? inFamous 2 sold well over half a million in the US.Really? That's not bad at all. I just remember USGAF talking about both inFamous 2 and Resistance 3 completely bombing in terms of sales.
Too bad with all those Sony studios, not one of them has made the megahit needed to propel a platform. Some have been preeettty close, like Uncharted and God of War, but still nothing on the level of Mario, Pokemon, Halo, heck, even Gears. Nothing revolutionary.
I would say that the PS2 never had that first party megahit either, but Gran Turismo certainly was that. But as much as I LOVE Uncharted, it's just not on the same level. I really think that's Sony's biggest problem; more studios than everybody else, and not one megaton.

I'm not condemning the quality of the IP, it's just that I personally value novelty over "more of the good stuff." My hope if that Naughty Dog's "The Last of Us" indicates that most studios will be branching off into new experiences going forward rather than re-hashing what they've already done.
This! They have the best first party out of all the big three. That's why I will always be interested in a new Sony console it always get great exclusive support.
Only the (J)RPG's are missing ;-/
You hear me SONY? Give us some AAA (J)RPG's!

JRPGs that aren't named Final Fantasy or Dragon Quest (is Pokemon a JRPG?) don't sell enough to make it worthwhile. They tried with White Knight Chronicles, but it flopped. So we'll be getting Grayzone 4 instead.
This!
Exactly why their console will always be my nr. 1 system.
I love their 1st party stuff.

Ninokuni came out of the gate and had a heart attack too.
JRPGs named Shin Megami Tensei could work, where are those?
The only thing that your 'megahit' is missing is a hundred million dollar marketing budget.Too bad with all those Sony studios, not one of them has made the megahit needed to propel a platform. Ni no Kuni's performance was really bizarre, L5, the new hotness, Ghibli, the family name you can trust, Command-RPG, the genre you know and love, it seemed a sure thing.
It was very expensive, it came with a big book on DS. Which also meant being sold in a large box which probably put additional retail pressure on the price, if it was the West it wouldn't get the time to gather speed with word of mouth before the price was slashed to get it off the shelves, not sure about in Japan though. But the PS3 version didn't have that excuse. Was price an issue? Was it actually marketed?
UC3? Not in US, Japan or Europe. Gears did 2+million just in the US debut (vs. 700k for UC3 in US)UC3 sold better than Gears 3 didn't it?
It's only Halo, and Reach didn't do that great, GT5 outsold it very comfortably.
