Not really. Sessions was never going to resign, his resignation would have signaled the collapse of the entire Administration at this early stage. All of these issues are still being investigated and if they pan out nothing Trump can come up with will distract from it.

That was my point it took that out of the headlines. I wish I could believe that discussion will reappear on the front pages but at this point it's unlikely anything else will happen to him. Which is a shame because SSessions is in many ways worse than Trump.

Well my point was that it didn't really matter how long it stayed in the headlines once it became clear that he wasn't going to resign and congressional Republicans had no intention of forcing the issue. The Democrats probably know that Sessions is the target of one or more of the current investigations into the Russia ties and are content to let him stew in the administration and take everyone down with him if he's insists on staying.
The other thing that is clear is that while Trump made these allegations to distract from the Sessions story he also made them because he's dumb enough to think that they were true. The man believes anything fed to him by Fox/Breitbart/Infowars and assumed that he would cause turmoil by exposing Obama's crimes to the world. Instead he completely squandered the tenuous amount of credibility he gained from his Joint Session speech which also got washed from the headlines by this.

See, wire tapping involves microwave ovens that spy on you, vs wiretapping which is just phones and flower pots. Clearly we need to do a new investigation and check out all Trump's microwaves.
