To all the haters

I feel like God of War and Detroit were WAY more interesting than Spider-Man when it comes to Sony's showings, but it was definitely the biggest crowd pleaser between the IP and the spectacle, so I'm not surprised.

Now show some non-scripted/non-linear gameplay and I can start being interested.

Congrats insomniac games
Man, seeing the new god of war really make me want a good Thor game now. Kratos axe is basically Mjolnir now.

If the combat in new God of War turns out great, I can see many action game start copying it just like we used to have many gow clone during ps2 era.

Possibility? Spider-Man will easily outsell Odyssey. There is no sense arguing otherwise.
At launch? Probably, just due to install base. But lifetime, I'd give Mario the edge here. Galaxy did 12M on the Wii. Only figure I can find for Spiderman is 8M for the whole series, but it's from 2004.

So much salt Spidey can't breathe.
Guys, like five people complained in a thread with hundreds of posts. It's all of you salty about the 'salt' derailing this topic, and nothing else.

God forbid the circle jerk doesn't garner 100% participation.

This is so warranted.

I have no idea why people are so distressed by their personal favorite game not winning this award.

'People' aren't. Someone posted a salt macro on page 2 in response to like five posts in this thread, not all of which have to do with other games, and y'all ran with it. the ratio of 'lol all this salt' posts to actual salty posts in here is like 10:1

Considering how its basically Spiderman Arkham, I'm not surprised. I was waiting a while for a Spiderman like the Batman Arkham games and its nice to see it finally happening. Looks gorgeous to boot. Not my personal favorite but its up there

Then you don't know how humongous Spider-Man is.
To be fair, that's not a guarantee of anything. It'll no doubt be huge but so will a lot of other games, both this year and next year. Best not to count our eggs before they hatch

There's not anywhere near as much of that going around in this thread as you guys think. The same three posts are just being endlessly requoted.
That said, there really shouldn't be any of that shit, but damn, it almost feels like y'all wanted the derail, considering how this thread pivoted into "Wow all this salt" and VS discussion after what? three Mario mentions and three people whining about how they just didn't like the game?

Yeah, there were like a handful of posts about Mario and suddenly everyone's salty about Mario. Most in this thread are actually happy a good Spiderman game is getting attention as they've been kind of ho-hum for a while. Its why I'm here :P

And yet that has been the dominating concern of just about everyone I've heard talk about it. Like that's the stuff that has stuck out the most.

I'm not sure what to tell you since again, there were literally only 35s of QTE's in that demo. And that 35s includes the animations that go along with the QTE's, so it's not even 35s of button presses. The reactions have been bizarre since they do make up such a minuscule amount of time in the entire demo.
