honestly, I'm genuinely surprised this game isn't the most talked about game of e3. I'm a big fan of Mario and God of War, and while I'm excited for this game, I'm not really caught up in the hype. But in my circle none of that other shit got the kind of intense immediate reaction the Spider-man footage saw. This game looks like an interactive Spider-man movie. People are gonna want that, and they aren't gonna care about the occasional QTE.
Topic: "People think this thing is the best!"
Some people: "I agree, this thing is the best."
Other people: "I disagree, this thing was not the best."
Like, what else could the topic possibly entail?

Among casuals it seems to be the hottest topic at least. I said it in the other spidey thread but I was off watching a bunch of e3 reactions from just a bunch of different ppl and they were all jaw dropped to the floor to the exact things this forum is complaining about that setpiece had ppl super excited because it made them feel like they were watching a Spider-Man movie but it's playable. Games gonna be big

For sure. And don't get me wrong, Spider-Man may very well end up with the larger lifetime numbers. I think a lot of it will depend on how well the Switch keeps selling beyond 2017.

Definitely see what you mean though. All it takes is a early timed derailing post focusing on a competing subject, and suddenly gets easier to get that subject pissed on. So yeah. Much as it doesn't matter if it's just 1 or 2 people doing it, acting bitter about grades/sales/awards is always embarrassing. But there's nothing to do about it if it's on purpose knowing very well what the consequences will be.
This one I don't get. 64 and Galaxy and notoriously known for having a different approach to level design in this regard, where 64 is more open and exploratory, Galaxy's levels are smaller and more linear. So which is it?

I hope this game is good. The demo presentation didn't really do much for me; it looked cool, but it's just Arkham combat which I've done before and the QTE's put me off. More interested in seeing some non-presentation based gameplay in the future.

Moving right along, Spider-Man was far more impressive, however.
If this game can deliver - with tons of villains and what it feels like to actually "be" Spider-Man; with his acrobatics, parkour, cool martial arts moves and combat, it will be the superhero GOAT.

Both Spiderman and SMO are going to be top sellers and neither brand is in any danger whatsoever, so I don't really understand why comparing sales would be important unless you work in accounting at Sony or Nintendo. It's not like it's EA looking for a reason to put your favorite franchise out of commission.

Like Spider-Man, what pushes Mario's public interest beyond games of the same caliber like God of War, Anthem and DBZ is simply the nostalgia factor (GoW and DBZ have been around for a while but not nearly as long as Spidey and Mario). Nothing hypes up the public more than a well sustained, long standing IP that reminds older fans of their childhood while still looking appealing and "cool" to the newer/younger fans.
Whatever happened to the gaming press having some variety with their own best of E3 and GOTY picks? It just seems like 2-3 outlets pick the same game and then the rest just follow the trend to be safe or something. GoW, DBZ, Anthem and few other standouts really deserved at least a few best of E3 wins too.
