Square Enix Jump Festa 2013 Lineup

Toriyama and Lightning finally are finally alone, both of them contemplate the magnificient Star Ocean while The Last Remnant of Toriyama's uncertainty falls and he finally talks.

"You know that my World Ends With You, right? I can't even imagine living my Final Fantasy without you"

"I know" she answers, "you really conquered my Kingdom Heart"

They both kiss with passion and he proceeds to draw his Sword of Mana, Lightning understands is time for her Front Mission and prepares herself before the Children of Mana finally pours inside her.

Then both Toriyama and Lightning lived together forever.

Now I should go to bed, sorry for this lol

Knights do it two-handed.

Which sucks, because the first three games in the series were absolute GOLD.

The death of Mana was the hardest thing I saw as a kid. Little did I know it was the harbinger, and not the freak accident.

At least Chrono was allowed to die a peaceful death following Cross.

Well, one of the interesting things I remember reading in discussion about the series is that it's decline was more the fault of the creator than it was Squaresoft/Enix. He just wanted to keep experimenting with the series. While I applaud that attitude, they hit gold with Seiken 2 and 3. Sometimes change is bad.

Don't know how true this theory is, though.

And on that note, where the hell is Seiken Densetsu 3 anyway? No port and no digital release on VC, even in Japan.

Can't wait to see Lightning Returns. Hope they call it quits with the FF XIII series though after this one. I love it, but I know it's fracturing the fanbase from my observation, and that's not good.

Couldn't care less about Versus tbh
well, maybe a little
. In fact I hope it comes out soon so I don't have to hear about it in every single Square Enix thread. It's annoying as fuck.

I've heard the same, and I do lay the blame at the creators' feet. I've heard it was the same guy doing art all the way across and he must've had a stroke after Legend or something, because starting in Sword of Mana the character art is AWFUL KILL IT WITH FIRE.

And Seiken Densetsu 3 will never come here because it is too good a game. That's the sad truth of it. What I would give to have another one like that, though . . .

It wasn't even good compared the the two previous entries in the series. They removed everything from the first two games gameplay wise. No mods, no armors, no parasite powers, no status ailment, no elemental damage, no items. They did not even try to balance the game around enemies dropping ammo when defeated. Instead you find ammo crates at specific point on the floor. As a failproof device you are stuck with your handgun w/ infinite ammo locked in one of your slot and it quickly becomes useless. That isn't what I call good design.

That's a really pessimistic way of looking at the handguns. It was co-developed with Hexa Drive, which is made up of ex-DMC team members. They also worked on EX Troopers. They have infinite ammo guns in almost all their games. The way 3rd Birthday controls is pretty similar to DMC honestly, because that's what that team is good at making.

Controls are not good at all with one stick. Nor are the mechanics of the game.

I just completely disagree. It's not Vanquish, but for a TPS on PSP I think it's pretty well done. I can't think of any other PSP games that have better TPS mechanics. Trying to claw your way around the d-pad in Metal Gear is painful.

Your only hope of survival is to use the dodge roll that makes the camera go haywire then auto lock on on something so the camera set iself properly.

The game isn't perfect, and having a single stick is a big limitation, particularly on the camera. This is the exact same kind of gameplay that FF Type-0 has, and everyone is dying for them to bring that over. The two games don't play that differently.

Anyway, you clearly hate it, but I enjoyed it and I'd love the series to continue. No way they will do it now though.

Not an unexpected lineup since those games are going to be released within the next few months. I am indeed surprised about Versus but I imagine they are just trying to find the right time to announce it as FF15.

Is this what happens when SE fails to deliver what their fans want?

This is what happens when they refuse to do that for 7+ years. We all accept that we'll never in this mortal body see Versus, and the sorrow drives us insane, spurring a flurry of terrible puns.

Now excuse me while I chocobo myself to death.

Damn, this is some Sword Art Online 16.5 shit up in here.

EDIT: 16.5 is NSFW. Read at your own risk :3

Square is becoming like Type 0's Tempus Finis. It's a downward spiral of disappointment wherever you look.

I am going to view Square as the new Namco Game Hoarders.

I'm surprised by the lack of iOS ports.
Why is Square Enix neglecting their new favorite development platform?

It's not canned, I just can't believe they are taking this long without showing anything. I am interested in seeing how Lightning Returns looks however.

They will after LR is released.

You know, I really enjoyed FFXIII. I liked Lightning. I did not like FFXIII-2, and her goddess embargo got annoying. Just make good games, release Versus, and start work on XV. No more sequels or spin offs, for the love of God.

I'm just being hateful and assuming they are using Versus as leverage to release LR before canning it.

Hope I'm wrong.

Are you bring up SAO in this thread? Really? Is this how low we're going to stoop? Not only that but you're bring up 16.5. Come on.

Would you rather talk about all the info on Lightning Returns?

Or talk about re-released games or Square Transformers RPG?

You mean Gyrozetter? lol I forgot that even existed for so long until you mentioned it. I really wanted to play that one from what I saw. Was getting a Xenogears vibe from it. But the characters looked rather obnoxious so who knows.

It's been FF5's anniversary for like 14 hours already!
But I don't live in Japan land! I live in the Bagged Milk version of East Coastland.

'Sides, I thought someone would've started a thread for it by now.

It would be so, so awesome to give this a remake on a handheld with a more modern spin on the Job System :-/
FF5 + FFX-2's instaswitch would be nice.

You like FF5? We should celebrate. I'll go get beer and whatever booze is legal in your country.
