n just four days, Star Citizen fans have raised another million dollars. We gave you the goal of becoming the first fully crowd funded AAA game and you are delivering faster than we ever imagined possible. The $13 million goal adds frigates to the roster of player-flyable ships and introduces one very cool new element for gameplay: the Command and Control Center. Found as an optional seat on larger ships, the C&C lets you coordinate the battle between multiple ships: let your friends or NPCs who are flying escort know where to go and what to do.

Next up is the $14 million goal, which adds another great design element we’ve been thinking about as well as a making-of documentary and one player-demanded feature we hadn’t originally considered:

Hibernation Mode: for the explorers out there, we will add the ability to save and resume while you are out in space. When not in combat, power your ship down, hit the bunk, and exit the game safely until you can resume your journey.

Just imagine the kind of missions you could create with all these big ships at your disposal ... Nnnnngh. Modders will have a field trip with SC.

It's just plain evil that I'll have LTI access to most ships until way later this year. I am so tempted to add the pirate pack or a racing ship to my pledge. Or that crazy-ass tanker. Dammit, I feel like a kid in a candy store.

Edit: Bugger it all, I caved and rebought the Pirate Pack. I think a ship that's likely to get blown up should have LTI, and the fact that it's already half-equipped and thus more or less ready to go means I can get a cheapish disposable NPC escort for my Freelancer. Plus, it just looks far too awesome to ignore.

FML, I don't wanna think about how much money I've spent already.

How is modding going to work if everything is the same multiplayer instance? (probably another clueless question, but I thought I read that on a site/this thread)

The persistent universe is separate from the player-run servers, which allow modding.

Just the hangar is being released next month.

Dog fighting alpha in December.

Semantics, but the Hangar is the first of several parts of the alpha. It's split so that the hangar, dogfighting test, planetside test, persistant universe, and squadron 42 are modular parts of it that will be released at different times before the beta.

i really hope they don't skimp on player run servers, it should be the same as the persistent mp universe, not cut down.
 
The way he describes the economy sounds almost identical to how Freelancer was described when it was originally announced (before it was scaled down).

From what they've said of how that will work, you'll have the full SC universe at your disposal, but will not have the full functionality of the PU, which of course would require its own data center to operate.

RSI has stated that the maximum player count per instance could be somewhere north of 100, but probably south of 200. A certain group already has 50 Retaliator bombers. Will be interesting to see how it plays out.

Modders... I wish I could set up a pub fund for modders. I have no doubt that the mod community will produce some spectacular results. Already the new CnC interface from the 13 million goal SCREAMS for an Allegiance port. I would abandon all of my pledge ships for a new Allegiance update in CryEngine 3.
I'm not a backer yet.......I'm so broke atm :(. This looks like my dream game.
If you get the chance to back after July 6 ask on GAF before committing to anything. No guarantees, but original backers could still get you an LTI ship through gifting.

So are a lot of people getting more than 1 ship? I have a Stella which was my starting pledge ship tier, I also just got an Aurora LX today.

So I went from the original $30 package to the $60 Origin 300i package. Having learned a bit more about this game I cannot wait for it to come out, gonna be awesome.

Aurora LX and M50 for now.
My LX will likely become a 315p at least, but probably a bigger exploration vessel. A pirate pack is also in my future.

Hornet and Connie variants will be very hard to resist. My hangar is very modest compared to most.
All that said and I still plan on playing mods as much if not more than, SC.

13 hours 13 minutes left to receive veteran back status with LTI perks.

They picked a bad time to end the LTI program. The Kickstarter -> New Website migration is a known issue and support has been answering a lot of tickets since the livestream. Bad timing with the holiday.

Chat said e-mail could take up to a week to be answered.

Well, I wish a new Wing Commander game for years and fuck, lets go. Advanced Starter Package. No more kickstaters for a while. All the budget for risk projects went to Star Citizen. Just wish a playabe version soon, even if is only flying the ship around the carrier.

A small crew might be answering support tickets but Cloud Imperium is technically closed until Monday. Did you get an auto-response after opening your ticket?

Man, this thing might break $14M tonight. It'll be close, anyway.

And then we'll probably see them reach their $20m goal for a private investor free release with similar sales for Freelancer, Hornet, and Constellation :)

They may need to do some discounts for those or release some more entry level ships as there wont be as many people willing to split with $100+
