Star Fox Zero - Video from review copy + plus Falco amiibo unlock revealed

More than anything I want to know if the retro Arwing just plays SNES Corneria on every stage, or plays more songs from the original game (Space Armada, Asteroid, Venom, Staff Roll, etc.) on other levels.

Damn, even that?

Based on what I've heard so far (through trailers and the narrated intro) it sounds pretty solid. I do hope they get Rick May (Soldier from Team Fortress 2) back to voice Peppy.

Edit: I'm not sure if this IMDB listing is accurate.

NDAs are pretty tight in the US VO world. You'd be surprised, actually. Most voice actors don't even know what they're auditioning for until well after the fact. Stuff like this is part of what instigated those rumblings of a SAG-AFTRA strike a while back.

The IMDB thing is probably just guesses based off comparing videos to SF643D. Mike West, Mark Lund and Lyssa Browne are back for sure but ATM anything else is conjecture.

Nearly all. Peppy Hare was recasted in Star Fox 64 3D (Jaz Adams as opposed to Rick May).

SF64 3D actually replaced a lot more of the cast than people realize. Only Mike West (Fox/James), Lyssa Browne (Slippy/Katt), and Ja Green (Leon) stuck around. Everyone else was new, though most of the impressions were good enough and it'd been enough time since the original that it slips by most players.

Remember previous reports about motion controls which can only be adjusted and not turned off? Well... without going into details, I have to say that fans of classic Star Fox reticle control will like "adjusted" controls, which are best of both worlds IMO. They are surprisingly well made, too, unlike non-motion controls in Splatoon, for example.

Glad to hear the options are actually solid, no point in offering a bad option to players.

I've never played Star Fox or any type of game like this where you're in a plane and shooting objects, but this does look like a lot of fun. I might buy it.

If the glass cannon mode and classic SNES mode are unlockable without amiibo I'll probably get this. Not at full price, but maybe in a B2G1 sale.

Also hoping those aren't Amiibo exclusive. Both seem pretty neat and I'd hate to miss out on them because I don't want to buy some dumb plastic toys.

Woah, I never realized as much, though I do know whoever is doing Andross now isn't as good as Rick May's portrayal (That "He he" when you first meet him in Venom).

With this video I guess I have my answer about
Corneria 2
The preview screen of the second mission on Corneria is called "Hidden Plans" et show ennemies completely different than the first one, and with that the hidden boss of the first mission is not Corneria 2

So yes it seems pretty confirmed that we will get 2 versions of each planet.

If SLAY Fox isn't in the OT title, I'm going to be a little disappointed.

Prepare to be disappointed. :) (because I have no idea what it means)

We know about pressing Y to center and pressing a shoulder button to temporarily activate motion already. :)

Since you don't understand it allow me to explain it:

Slay means to 'killed it, succeeded in something amazing' e.g. You slayed it gurl! (It's slang)

Star Fox is impressive and succeeded. Star Fox slayed.

Therefore, SLAY FOX is born

Is this how Gaga writes song titles?

I believe that it only plays the original Corneria theme from the SNES on the first level, no additional SNES soundtracks are in the game.

I think Rick May is semi retired. I think the only role he plays these days is Soldier, and even then it's infrequent.

HYPE for SLAY fox

about to finish Twilight QWEEN so my schedule looks clear for Slay Fox

get PERCHed

I don't get this? do you talk like this in real life?

anyway, I hope the game is good and I look forward to PERCHusing it mawhahahahaha.

I keep coming in here hoping to find out if the amiibo modes are unlockable within the game and I keep seeing tidbits of info I wish I would experience on my own. The torture!

I keep coming in here hoping to find out tidbits of info about the game and I keep seeing people talking about Lady Gaga.

Oh. :) I was talking about the latter. It works far better than I've imagined.
Hmmm, this control scheme seems good. That DOES sound like the best of both worlds. Really looking forward to this. 3 weeks left!

Slay Fox ain't happening, guys.

Even after it's been explained to me, I don't get it or why it's even supposed to be funny.

Correct.

ITT old people who don't keep up with funny pop culture memes reveal themselves.

Here's hoping OT2 honors our fearless leader, SLAY Fox

Sorry for posting things not related to PopGAF, but the Y button functionality seems to be what this game really needed. Anyone can play the game in the "old" way if they want, but to get big scores the player needs to master the gyro controls. Seems fair to me.
